Chapter Text

Dick stretched his shoulders as he stepped out into the cool morning air, the sun was just rising and the birds were chirping. Dick made his way down the steps and tried at first to hide his wince, but then he remembered that no one would be out this early in the morning and he didn’t bother hiding it. He reached the bottom, gave himself a little pat on the back, and then started making his way to the coffee shop on Robinson Avenue that he knew would be open.

It was a nice morning out, and Dick saw a few runners as he walked. They cast him quick glances as they made their way past, feet hitting the ground in a steady beat that reminded Dick of the music in the club the night before.

Dick had needed to unwind after a long week and Donna had been begging him to go out or weeks, so he’d sauntered into the club with her and proceeded to drink too many shots before heading t the dance floor where he’d run into a tall guy with blond hair and proceeded to spend all of his time dancing with him before stumbling out of the club with him around 1AM.

The sex had been decent and the sleep even better, which said a lot for how stressed Dick had been lately. Dick had woken up just past dawn needing to piss. He debated leaving his number on the nightstand for a few minutes before deciding against it, dragging himself out of bed, and throwing on his wrinkled clothes from the night before.

Dick turned a corner and saw the Luna Coffee shop sign in the distance. He wiggled his hips a little in excitement, regretting the action seconds later. Ugh. Sore. He opened the door, bell jingling and made his way to the counter.

“I’ll take a medium breve and a croissant,” Dick said, pulling out his wallet. The door jingled again and Dick’s mouth nearly dropped open when a tall guy with dark hair and a leather jacket, looking just as rumpled as Dick was, walked in. Dick paid for his coffee and stepped aside to let the guy order.

“Large latte and a croissant please,” the guy’s voice was smooth and his hair tousled in a beautiful bedhead that made Dick jealous. Dick’s hair looked less purposely ruffled and more bird’s nest right now.

Dick stuck his hands in his pockets and rocked back and forth on his feet as he waited for his coffee.

“Lovely morning, huh?” Dick said to the guy as he approached. He had a hickey on his neck and Dick’s eyes flicked to it.

“Yeah, it is a nice morning,” the guy said.

“Good night too?” Dick asked before he could stop himself.

The guy shrugged. “It was decent.”

“Same,” Dick responded.

“I can tell,” the guy said. “You’ve got a little something here,” he gestured to his own jaw and Dick was hit with a memory of the blond guy sucking a mark there.

“Ugh no way,” Dick said. “I told him not to leave any marks.”

The guy laughed and Dick liked the sound of it. He wanted to hear more of it.

“You’ve got one too,” Dick pointed out.

“I’m not surprised,” the guy said. “I tend to go for mouthy ones.”

“Well lucky you, I’m known for my mouthiness.”

The guy raised his eyebrows. “Are you?”

“Yeah. I’m Dick by the way.” Dick held out a hand.

“No way that’s your real name.”

“Guilty,” Dick said.

The guy took his hand and shook it. “Jason.”
