Little lamb why do you hide?

Summary:

We all know Avid and Owen are narrative foils. What if Owen had a soft spot for those who are thrown away. Would a romance occur? Or would it all burn?

No Ai has been used to write this and I do not concent for my work to be fed to Ai. Keep it away from Ai!!!

Chapter 1: Journey

Chapter Text

Owen 'woke' up to a pang of dread. He could sense humans intruding into his town. Why could they never stop? It was always the same, they cast out a sorry soul then take something from them. It happened to him, and it'll happen to others. It had happened to others.

Owen got up and stretched. His bones popping with a cracking sound. He cracked his neck and joints. He started to walk back down to Oakhurst. It had only been two centuries since he was last awake. The town was certain to be in ruins by now.

Owen continued down the path to Oakhurst. It was a familiar path he had taken many times before. Mostly back when he had chopped down wood for the town. It was weird going back to the place after the massacre he had caused.

When he reached the boarder of the town he could already hear the voices of people. He put on a mask of indifference as his rage grew. He entered into the town, introduced himself. It was a quick introduction that left much to the imagination.

He saw how they all avoided one man like the plague. Figures, humans never do change do they?

The man in question looked to be in his late teens or early twenties. His hair was a mix of raven and blond with it swaying more to the raven side. His eyes, possibly the most eye catching feature of his, was a deep violet. Two separate shades of purple mixed together.his skin was pale, almost vampiric like. He wore a green vest, it matched well with his eyes.

His shirt was a simple white with ruffles at the end of the arms. On his neck laid bandages tightly woven to protect his neck from something. He wore simple trousers.

Owen could admit that the man was quite attractive, beautiful even. The man seemed to notice him just then. He let out a small yelp as he jumped back in shock. The man looked at him, his violet eyes wide in shock.

"W-when did you get here!?" The man asked.

"A few moments ago. I'm Owen it's a pleasure to meet you." Owen replied.

"Oh- I'm Avid. I guess it's nice to meet you too." The man replied.

Avid… A beautifuly unique name, it matched his eyes. Owen looked at the man and a small friendly smile graced his lips.

"What brings you here?" He asked.

"I'm a monster hunter! I heard rumors of vampires in the area. My hunting partner came out here a month ago and disappeared. I'm currently looking for her." Avid replied, his voice filled with cheer.

"Vampires?" Owen questioned fainting confusion.

"Yep! They are real you know!" Avid replied cheerfully.

"Say how long do you plan to stay in town for?" Owen asked.

"I really don't know but I think it's a good idea to build. Speaking of do you have any wood or stone?" Avid asked.

"I have a bit on me and I'm a lumberjack. If you can build a house for us both I can get the wood for it." Owen replied.

"Oh like roommates? Sure! Can I have the resources you have so I can start on it?" Avid asked.

Owen handed over the logs to Avid as he set out with his axe over his shoulder. He tracked into the woods and cut down a few trees, he replanted them as he went. Owen only chopped down the oldest ones.

After a bit he returned to town. The logs safe in his inventory. As Owen returned to the town he could hear conversations. Mainly one that was being held with his new roommate. Avid voice led Owen to believe he was in distress.

As soon as Owen made his way to the spot he and Avid had claimed earlier that very day, he could see Avid with what looked to be tears forming in his violet eyes.

"May I ask what is going on?" Owen's voice cut through the conversation as if it was butter. His tone was flat with an edge of danger laced into it.

"Oh, hi Owen!" Avid greeted. He wiped the tears from his eyes as he forced a smile. It didn't reach his eyes.

"Hi! I'm Saussage!" A bearded man said.

"Hello, My name is Scott." A blued haired man said.

"I'm Shelby!" A redhead introduced herself.

"I'm drift, a detective from the capital." Another woman said.

"Owen. Still you have yet to tell me what is going on. I could hear you from the woods." A minor lie if he was human. He had never been happier that he had inproved senses.

He could sense the dread on the men and women's faces. They looked guilty, it reminded Owen of when the townsfolk would talk behind his back.

"Our friend Avid here was telling how Vampires are apparently real. He must be manic to belive such a thing, no?" Scott answered.

"If that is all then can you leave? Avid and I have a house to work on." Owen snapped. His patience had run dry. Humans never change do they.

With a slight grumble the others left Avid and Owen alone. Owen turned to Avid, the man seemed surprised that he stood up for him.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Y-yeah. Thank you, really." Avid thanked.

"It's no problem. Non-believers always shame you for telling the truth." Owen lied. He knew the supernatural was real, he was the supernatural himself. His new Roommate did not know that however.

"You belive me?!" Avid asked shocked. The man seemed quite surprised that he had been belived. If Owen had to guess Avid was not the one who went out on the 'hunts' most of the time.

"Of course I would be a fool not to. I would recommend quitting down about it though, Non-believers will call you insane. It's best not to waste that trust before you gain it." Owen told Avid.

The other man just nodded his purple eyes catching the light. Owen does belive that the other had beautiful eyes. They stood out in a wonderful way. It drew attention to Avid, the good kind of course.

Avid looked at Owen. Really looked at him. He looked at the man's beautiful brown eyes, his dark curly hair that fell from the pony it was tied in like a waterfall. The mad had lightish dark brown skin. His cheeks sunken in slightly to reveal his cheekbones.

Owen was handsome, incredibly handsome. Avid had heard of love at first sight. Elle had experienced it plenty, she was always ranting on about the drop dead gorgeous monster woman she met. Yet he had never experienced it himself.

This, this man before him had shattered that claim. Breaking it into millions of pieces. Avid could feel his cheeks start to heat up a tad as a light pink blush made it's self known on his face. He hoped Owen hadn't noticed it.

The two chatted as they built up the house. A few short hours later it was done. The two went inside and went to their separate rooms. Avid fell asleep as soon as he hit his bed. Owen waited until he was sure the man was asleep before making his way to the lake beacon.
