To the naked eye, it seemed that Viola was simply sitting on the floor, legs crossed in complete silence. In actuality Viola's mind was racing at what felt like to great a speed to keep up. The overwhelming thoughts had been consuming her at every waking moment, and at this point she did not believe that they would stop.
The emptiness within her chest had spread throughout her body. Every fiber of her being was aching to be released from its gilded cage. The skin that had her soul trapped like an animal in captivity. The light in her eyes, just a mere nothing compared to her younger self.
Her last glimmer of hope nestled comfortably in front of her on the cashmere pillow her partner had gifted her last year on her birthday. The shining polished silver gleamed in a way that was calling out to Viola. She couldn't help but stare at her savior as she picked it up. The metal was cold. That was the only observation she took a mental note of.
It fit so perfectly in her hand, as if it were made for her. As if it were made for this moment. The moment she felt the cold against her temple, the thoughts that had been her greatest and relentless enemy seemed to fade away into nothingness. Her mind was now simply empty. She felt an inhumane euphoria that only told her she was making the right decision.
