Work Text:

A Wonderful Winter in Hell

Winter in Hell is completely different than it is on Earth. More festive, demons actually getting into the holiday spirit, funny enough, and they actually seem cheerful. Not something you see every day in this obnoxious place.

It feels more at peace. More than Earth could ever handle.

We actually call it Sinsmas here. Everyone gathered together to eat dinner, open presents and chit chat. Charlie was in her absolute glory knowing we were all together while Vaggi tried to calm her down. Angel Dust and Husker were sitting at the bar together, not quite sure what they were talking about. Nifty and Baxster were making themselves content with the weird bugs. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. Alastor was actually no where to be found. I’m guessing he’s not the holiday and festive type of guy.

Not that I care. Never really liked him in the first place.

And Lucifer, he seemed non interested in anyone. Kept to himself and was pretty quiet. He did although come and sit with me outside, on the balcony and just watched the magnificent but sketchy horizon.

Most of everyone went to bed after dinner and movie night.

It started to get loud at night, hearing screams, crashes and explosions. The normal. I finally lay down, trying not to remember the last time I saw my family for Christmas. I usually get pretty quiet and distant when it come to remembering my family. I do miss them. Sometimes the dreams are so vivid, it feels real. Three soft knocks are placed on the door. Barely audible. I roll to my side. “Yes?” The door creaks open a bit, Lucifer dipping his head in, the hallways light shinning behind him, making his figure a silhouette. His hat was down like he was trying to hide something. “Can I come in?” He asked softly but had an edge to it. “I never got to actually talk with you.” His eyes scanning the ground as if it might crumble beneath him.

“Oh, uh, yes of course.” I said while repositioning myself. “What brings you here tonight?”

Lucifer gracefully stepped inside and closed the door quietly. He treaded softy to the side of me. He stops steadily in front of me, holding his hand out, waiting for me to take it.

He looks at me with a crooked smile, his eyes looking through mine, hoping to see something.

“Come here, I want to show you something.” He reassures me. He can see the look on my face. “I promise you’ll love it dear.”

“Lucifer, what are you up to?” I said with a small chuckle. “This isn’t like you. Is everything okay?”

Lucifer shakes his head while guiding me to my somewhat stable balcony. He lets go of my hand, in an almost sad way like he didn’t want to.

He closes the door, just with a soft click.

“Lucifer, what’s going on?” I say, starting to get worried. I can see something is making him distraught but also calm at the same time.

“Remember when you first showed up here at the hotel? You were pretty scared.” He said with a soft chuckle, turning to face me. “You were alone.”

I flinched at the word ‘alone’. Remembering I was alone. Didn’t have anyone in this wretched place.

“But then I saw you, standing at the entrance with Charlie and her girlfriend. You seemed so innocent. Nothing like a sinner.” He sweetly says.

Lucifer grabs my hands into his, feeling the warmth and comfort of his. It’s different from Hell. His warmth is like a soft comfort, not too hot and not too bouldering. Just perfect. That’s what makes it so different from Hell.

“What are you trying to say?” I asked quietly with a hint of confusion.

“Heh, what I’m trying to say is, I see you. I see all of you.” He says pulling me closer, close enough I can feel his warmth on my cold face. “This is something I’ve always wanted.”

Lucifer shifts his body to the side, letting his arm stretch out into the sky. He keeps me close, not tight so I know I can leave if I want. Which I’ll never leave his side.

With one soft movement of his hand, he let out sparks of light, swooshing up into the sky making these beautiful fireworks and stars.

I watch with absolute joy and pleasure. This is the power of the fallen angel.

“Lucifer…it’s so beautiful.” My eyes wide open from such beauty and magnificent detail. I am beyond amazed. “This is what you wanted to show me?”

“Not just this, but everything. Everything else.” He says with confirmation. “I never wanted anything more than to make you happy my dear.”

My heart skipped a beat. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach jittering around. I can feel the heat spread across my face.

Lucifer must have notice how red my face was, because he did his usual crooked smile while tilting his head slightly downwards.

“You are my everything and more. Merry Sinsmas, my dear.” He says while pulling me close into a deep hug, making me remind myself that this is the only place where I want to be. In his arms.

“Merry Sinsmas, Lucifer.” I say while burying my head into his chest. I can feel his comforting warmth, making me at ease.

Lucifer plants a soft kiss on my head. His hands gripping on the back of my shirt near my waist, not in a distracting way, but as if he doesn’t want to let me go.

“I hope this present meant everything to you.” He says with a soft chuckle, still holding me tight.

“Everything means to me when you’re here. It was perfect. As so you.” I say leaning against his chest. I close my eyes to fully take in his warmth.

Tonight was perfect. I never want to forget this moment.
