Chapter Text
Snow covered the side walk like glitter as the street lamps and moon beamed their lights onto the ground. On the overpass, a trail of foot steps lead to a man dressed in all black. His feet made gentle crunching sounds against the powder but they were muffled by the whooshing of cars passing by. The bright headlights were almost blinding as drivers made their best attempt of seeing through the thick snow falling down. Despite the dangerous risk of a car swerving into him the man continued walking on the narrow side walk beside the road. Eventually the man made his way back to normal, flat ground. Still stomping through the snow nonetheless.
He made his way to a building, taking a look to ensure the lights were off and no cars were left parked in the lot. He walked to the front door and dropped down the heavy duffle bag that was resting on his shoulder. "Shit that's heavy." He complained before cupping his hands around his face and pressing into the glass door. He scanned the inside of the building. An ice rink. Once he was confident nobody was inside he pick up the bag and walked around to the side of the building until he reached a window. Like he had done this a thousand times before, he carefully lifted the window up until there was enough space for him to slide his was inside. He tossed his bag onto the floor and knelt down to unzip it. He made sure to keep his hood up, covering his face and any details about his identity. He sat on a bench as he pulled out some gear: skates, blade guards, and a water bottle. He took off his shoes before putting on the skates, making sure to lace them tightly and snug to the shape of his foot and ankle.
Once that was done he grabbed the water bottle and made his way to the guard rail that surrounded the ice. He set the water on the top before opening up the gate and stepping onto the ice, taking off his blade guards first of course. He began skating, practicing different techniques, moves, and jumps. He was good, above the average, but not perfect as he wouldn't always land each jump perfectly. His ankle would wobble upon the impact which frustrated him. He continued this for about an hour until suddenly his heart jumped as he spotted someone holding a flashlight.
He was silent as this person had not yet spotted him. He quietly but swiftly made his way back to his belongings and headed back to the window he used to enter. "Hey!" The man with the flashlight yelled as he had now spotted the intruder. "Who are you?!" As the mysterious man attempted to slide back out the window, his hood was blown off and exposed his long blue ears. A bunny. He looked towards the security man, his eyes widening as he noticed him making a run towards his direction. "Fuck."
He quickly slid out the window and shut it before stumbling to another side of the building. He sat down and frantically started unlacing his skates. Once they were off he could hear the security guards foot steps heading in his direction. "Where'd you go bastard?!" He zipped up his belongings. With no time to put on his regular shoes he slung his bag across his body and started climbing a fence. Once he was on the other side, he ran until it felt safe enough to stop. He bent his body over, resting his hands on his knees and staring into the ground as he gasped for air. Once he felt his breathing return to normal he started walking towards the path to get home.
He began to have this sour sensation in his gut. 'Fuck dude... that guy totally saw my face.' He thought to himself. He felt a rush throughout his body like he had gotten away with murder. However all he really did was break into an ice rink and skate an hour for free. No property damage. Nobody was hurt or dead. Deep down he knew his actions were still wrong as he was technically stealing from a business. But he had no other opinion. With entrance fees being up to twenty dollars an hour to skate, he couldn't afford to do things the morally correct way. But his passion for skating wasn't going to stop simply because of some financial struggles.
Unbeknownst to him, more people would see his face than just the security guard he encountered that night. And eventually, someone of high power would see this event too.
