I Want to Be Everybody and Nobody

Summary:

A very depressed Mike Wheeler comes to visit Will in Montauk

Testing the waters for a book I'm writing by putting Byler in a similar scenario.

Personally I LOVED the finale/epilogue and I loved seeing them allow Will to explore himself and Mike to actively be depressed instead of just there. So this is primarily about their characters, and is mainly a look into how I imagine Mike's mental health

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

NOVEMBER 6TH 1990

Mike stepped out of the shower. He felt what was meant to be a soft, but was a really, horrible, dry, old towel beneath his feet.

He cleaned himself off, and stared across at the radiator. On it, lay a brown suit jacket, brown dress pants, a tie, white shirt, and white socks. The last time he'd worn them was 3 years ago. His brain was too preoccupied to even remember, or care, why. He put the clothes on. They still fit, of course they did. No matter how much he grew, his clothes just seemed to grow with him. He pulled the socks on, hating the way the seems scratched beneath his toenails.

He walked over to the mirror, looking at the dry, messy, birds nest he was going to have to pretend was hair. He combed it first, parted it, then, like every morning, carefully gelled it to one side. Perfect.

Finally, he reached for his razor. But unlike every morning, there was no water, no shaving foam, and the razor blade didn't stay on long.

One

One huge, open gash, right through his vein, the blood dripped down, not even the upsidedown had hurt him like that before.

Then another.

A third.

Four

Five

Six.

Switch hands

One two three

It was rhythmic, if he didn't get them in the right places that simply wouldn't do.

Four five

His vision went bleary, he could just about see his jacket, stained in splotches of disgusting, red, blood. Fag blood. Fag blood for a fag.

One left

Just as he fell, he brought the razor up to his wrist.

Six

Crash.
