Chapter Text
Smallville, Kansas. December 21st.
The snow storm was not supposed to be here for another three days and seemed to focus more on the outskirts than in town. Kon heard on Ma's radio that they were laying down salt to prep, closing schools, and asked everyone to stay home if possible so the roads were clear for the plows. Before planning this date, Kon had snuck out earlier that day and checked to see how the cluster of closer neighborhoods were looking. Mostly clear, which was why he and Tim were bundled up and heading outside. "You sure you don't want to come with us, Ma?" A pause at the door despite being able to hear her well beyond it.
"I'm alright, sweetheart. I'm going to go with my friends later on when the roads are better. There will be warm pies ready when you both get back. " Ma was heading out of the kitchen to peek, hands wiping themselves of the flour on a towel tucked into the apron Kon had made her last year. "Be safe you two."
A wide smile from Kon was given before a kiss was blown toward her and he followed Tim out the door. Kon's boots floated above the cold snowy ground as Tim followed the path made to the barn, side by side. When Tim walked past the truck, Kon laughed. "Hey, come back here. We are not taking kon-air lines. You are doing the whole experience of sitting in the car with hot cocoa and heat."
Despite that face being covered with a wind guard, Tim was always good at emoting. His head turned to look out at the two feet of snow that still covered the long driveway, then to the truck, and back to the snow as his clever brain tried to put it together. "I take it you are not four wheel driving us out of this?"
Kon's face was uncovered so that a radiant smile could be seen in the flood lights from the porch. "Nope." A pop given at the P. The driver side door was opened so Kon could pat the top of that seat inside. "Come on. You can steer while I fly us." Tim hesitated and then his pace was quickened so he could take that invite. The moment that wind guard was pulled down, his warm lips were there to find cold ones, pressing firmly enough that thinner ones smooshed under his full set. Kon pulled back first from that quick kiss. "Ready, handsome?"
Tim quickly snuck one more smooch, making sure it was over exaggerated in noise because that always made Kon giggle. God, he looked so cute dressed up as if the cold could actually affect him. "Yes. By the way, this still counts as Kon air." The door was closed, the window rolled down so Tim could hear. Both hands rested on the wheel for stability and he gave a quick thumbs up.
Positioning in front of the old truck was more for show then skill, giving Tim a front row seat as he lowered down, grabbed the grill of the vehicle and allowed his aura to surround every last bit of metal. Each gear, bolt, sealed frame, and even Tim was felt - tendrils teasing like fingers caressing his lover along the thighs and arms, through layers of clothing to that cool bare skin. Slowly, the whole truck lifted, frame creaking at weight distribution as he used his TTK to balance it out while hands shifted. Under the frame and between the tires put 5,000 lbs above Kon's head, both palms used to keep balance. Feet lifted from the ground, taking them cautiously in the air where darkness swallowed them up from view.
Tim was thrilled, the date already starting out just right as he got the chance to watch Kon at work, using his abilities to lift up the vehicle so they could soar in the air. The coat’s wind guard was pushed up to cover that mouth and nose so Tim could lean his head halfway out, the air moving past him was loud until Kon’s aura gave him a shield. It was thoughtful in a way that always made Tim feel seen.
"You okay up there, sunshine?" Kon's voice came from somewhere underneath.
"Kon, have I told you how amazing you are today?"
"Hmm, not yet. I am disappointed actually." The tone was clearly a tease.
Both arms rested along the window sill as Tim laid his head on them dreamily staring down at the few lights from roads and houses among the acres of fields. The truck remained steady like an air plane or as if they were on a smooth road. Kon always went above and beyond to make sure anything done like this was as safe as possible when Timothy was involved. "People misuse the phrase 'in awe' because nothing compares to you, right now, using your powers to lift a what… 5… 6 k pound vehicle up? I bet you are not even breaking a sweat in your insulated jacket right now, huh?"
"Nope!" A giggle ascended up and Tim sighed happily.
"You're amazing."
"Awww, babe. Getting so melty on me already? Being literally swept off your feet always makes you gooey. It's cute."
Tim fake squawked despite the gesture being visually missed, but Kon was right. What could he say, he was in love.
"Dashing through the snooooow."
"Kon." There was a warning, though no heat behind it.
"In a one horse open sleeeeeeeigh."
"Kon!"
They both started laughing at the same time, that light mood infectious.
"I need you to not be cute when I can't kiss you."
"All you can think about right now, huh?"
"Actually, I was thinking about when your TTK went through the truck to feel all the mechanics in it. You know, over every little part of it to keep in place. At the same time you caressed my thigh -"
"Freak." Was said with nothing but affection in Kon's voice. "Of course you focus on how I am intimately touching the truck to keep it in one piece."
"Amazing, like I said!"
“Uh huh. Maybe I have something planned later on our itinerary whereI can touch just you, intimately."
“Did you make an actual itinerary?!” The perk up in that voice could not be mistaken.
“Hook, line, and sinker for that little detail. You are so cute with your love of organization. I’ll show you when we get back later. Don’t want to ruin surprises.”
“It won’t ruin anything! It will end with us breathless and worn out.”
“Timothy Jackson Drake. That’s naughty talk!”
“Is it working though, is the question?” Tim mused as he leaned a bit more out but it was pointless. Kon was too far under the truck to see.
“I am a lady. Hold your nerd wooing for goopy moments so I can live out my hallmark romance.”
Tim laughed, gloved hands up in the air, going unseen. “I’ll save my nerdy seduction for later on. Will talk about your itinerary all night while I smash.”
From under the darkness, he heard Kon giggle. The truck shook a little from it, but Tim was not concerned. Shifting back into the truck fully, gloved hands went to the steering wheel when he felt the vehicle begin to descend.
Right under a street light on the side of a main road, Kon set the truck down as gently as it was picked up, the frame groaning at adjustment of weight bearing when it rested back on those big wheels. Gloves brushed off against each other as those boots made their way around to the driverside, the crunch of asphalt loud in the silent night. The roads were all cleared and resalted for the next wave. The window was still down and Tim was shivering a little, but the challenging look given caused one eye brow to perk above Kon's left eye. "Scoot over."
"No. You fly, I drive. Thems the rules." Keys rose and were jingled at Kon for a little display. Then Tim inserted it into the engine and turned the truck on all while keeping perfect eye contact with Kon.
"Those are not the rules. I made the plans so I am showing you around." His gloved hand went for the door but Tim started pouting. How did he make those eyes look so big, cute and also luring cause now all Kon wanted to do was kiss it away.
"You just want to test out the tires we put on." Was stated.
Tim nodded eagerly, smile returning. How could he say no? Playfully defeated, Kon moved around to the passenger side to climb into that long seat. The truck might be old, but with both hands into the mix when it came to fixing it up, the lukewarm air was produced faster. Kon shut the door and slid over to hug Tim. Chins over shoulders, his arms embracing and hands slowly rubbing up and down to help warm Tim up for a few long moments.
"Seatbelt, babe." was whispered. Unable to resist the instinct that years brought when it came to taking care of Tim, fabric and buckle were stretched, clicked, then adjusted. Gave him all the more reason to touch. Kon suddenly remembered the accessories for their date. "Oh! I have another treat for us before we get going!”
Scooting back to the passenger space, Kon reached under the seat and pulled out a thermal lunch bag. Gloves were removed and left on the seat so he could open it to reveal two mugs. "Tada! Hot coco." He watched with fondness as Tim eagerly removed his gloves too and reached out with a grabby hands gesture, a soft moan of contentment as those digits embraced the outside of that container.
"So warm."
"And perfect for the vibes." Rifling through, Kon pulled out another three clear bags, dangling them for Tim to see the contents. One has tiny marshmellows, another some crushed candy canes, and the last had chili powder. Tim chose the marshmallows, Kon took a little of both. They huddled together over the mugs after opening and added how much both wanted before taking careful sips. It was still too hot for Tim by the hiss he gave, but that smile remained as the lid was secured.
"Ready?"
"Let's go, handsome!" Kon put his own lid on, set them both in the cup holders attached to the dash and put away the add ons. Eyes landed on Tim to watch that face squint in focus as his arm used a little force to shift the gear, making them jerk forward, causing Kon to laugh.
“Ssshh.” Tim said without looking away from the road as he pulled out.
The next two shifts went much smoother and when they entered the first neighborhood, Kon scooted all the way back over. Tim’s arm lifted in open invite, wanting that warmth and solid body pressed against his own so they could snuggle as he dropped gears. Kon did not even mind that bit of jolting, enjoying Tim in his element. Lights reflected off the window and flooded the cab of that truck as every house had some theme or color scheme.
This was what Kon loved about the season, bright lights that sparkled and shimmied to a beat or pattern. “Tim!” Kon jolted to sit up a little straighter. “They made their bushes look like a Wompa!”
“Where!?”
“Over here.” Kon raised his hand up to that chin so he could angle Tim’s view.
“I think that was an attempt at the abominable snow man?”
“Where do you think the idea of a Wompa came from?”
“Okay, maybe you have a point there. However-”
Tim and Kon began their rant of Star Wars creatures, which ones they would want to avoid, come face to face with, or be friends with. It lasted for a whole neighborhood and died down into the second where both were back to snuggling. At one point, Kon refused to give up the arm wrapped around him and attempted to help Tim out by bringing his mug to those lips. When it was still too hot, Kon opened the lid and blew a controlled, light huff over it to cool it down faster before replacing the lid. This time, he switched off to hold the steering wheel while Tim took a careful sip. “That’s so much better.”
“I know. I’m amazing.”
“Yeah.” Tim’s voice softened as he glanced at Kon and back on the road during their continued slow pace. “You are. I have lists of all the ways.”
Kon could feel the heat creep up into his cheeks from that compliment as it washed over him. “You do not.”
Tim took another sip, contemplated if he wanted to reveal it and thought, why not? They had been dating for an entire year now - Kon had seen a great deal of Tim’s oddities and was still invested. Grateful for the affections that came with the heart of gold, he decided to do it. “I do. One on why you are my best friend, another on all the ways I might like like you and why I should ask you out.”
“Hmm.. I think I really like lists.”
“Freak.” Tim breathed out with pure affection, finally able to turn the tables and tease Kon in return.
“To match.” Kon’s lips were on Tim’s in a firm kiss that had them both sinking back into one another before focus had to be shifted again so they could continue their date. No phones, just the two of them enjoying those visuals from the least decorated house to ones that went all out, some collaborating with each other to make a bigger piece.
When it was time to head back to the farmhouse, Tim parked the truck, undid his seat belt and climbed over Kon to switch places. This time he got to snuggle and press his hands deep into Kon’s coat so those cold tips could start warming up. One of their neighbors had come to dig them out, the long driveway was freshly plowed.
Ma was gone, the house empty of any other human soul but both remained in the truck with that engine running, warm air circulating, and the Christmas music playing. Every press of lips and slide of their tongues together, progressed to grow hungry. Each sigh spurred on the other to squeeze more noises out until air took priority for Tim as he pulled back, goofy smile on that blushed face. Grey eyes sparkled and there was no mistaking what other ideas were behind them.
"You're so pretty when horny." Kon giggled as the rush of blood crept up from under the jacket to spread into those cheeks, making Tim more red in the glow of that radio. The song that had been faint in the background of their attention, changed. Sia's 'Snowman' came on, soft and pretty enough for the perfect wrap up on their date. Kon untangled himself from Tim and slid to the door so he could climb out. Shoes did not even touch the snow, floating around the other side. Tim's face was still flushed with all the affection but baffled when his own door opened.
"Don't turn off the truck. Come here." Kon's hand wrapped around Tim's bare one, tugging gently along to break one spell to place his partner into another. The crunch of snow was heard when Tim hopped out. Kon leaned back in to turn the song up louder so it echoed around the open area, bouncing off Ma's farm house and barn. That floating form lowered down to the ground. "Step on my shoes." Tim did so without hesitation, a cute smirk pressed against his mouth when he knew they were about to go flying. To have someone he loved be so comfortable with this part of him always made Kon’s heart feel so full. The trust, the love of soaring, and letting him protectively hold that body in his arms were what had bonded them.
Kon had a better idea.
"I want you to know that I'm never leaving -" He began to sing softly to Tim as they swayed back and forth while rising in the air. Thick jacketed arms wrapped around one another to hold their bodies close, noses brushing as Kon's voice stayed soft compared to the loud music. "You are my home, my home for all seasons." Just level with the roof, they remained floating in the air. Kon led their dance and watched as Tim's smirk softened, that very moment when all his emotions were on full display for them both in this last quiet part of the night. The thick layers of winter clothing could not stop them from leaning in, lips brushing each other as pulled up hoods blocked out the lights of the porch.
"I love you, Conner." It was the most confident thing Tim had said in a while, not even a moment's hesitation in that body or speech. Kon felt fingers curling into his puffy jacket to pull him in the rest of those millimeters so cold lips were pressed to his. The music continued to be their ambience as their make out shifted to cherishing, slow and full of gentle exploration. Kon never said it back, too invested in Tim's physical affections, but they both felt it.
