Misere Nobis

Summary:

In a desolate world ten years after civilization's fall, Kim Dokja has adapted to life as a supply deliveryman for the remaining survivors.

But everything changes when an emergency broadcast reveals that the region's last major hospital has succumbed to a bizarre infection that brings the dead back to life. With questions swirling about its sudden emergence after a decade of survival, Dokja can only cling to whatever luck he has left against these horrors of man.

Along the way, he encounters a lone wolf with a troubled past, whose only goal is to reunite with his little sister.

If he plays his cards right... this unlikely partnership might just save the whole goddamn world.

Breaking News

Global Crisis Network (GCN)

– JULY 16, YEAR 3570

“..... Scientists are concerned that a continued rise in greenhouse gas emissions is a clear indication that we are approaching a major environmental devastation. This year, global temperatures have once again reached a monumental peak.”

“Millions of fish have died following the release of ancient bacteria from melting polar ice. At this stage, it’s difficult to predict the extent of damage. The world faces its greatest crisis in history and it’s anticipated that this crisis will last for several decades at least, with no clear end in sight.”

“Food shortages have hit countries worldwide. Civilians are beginning to riot.”

“Experts have also raised alarm over the vulnerability of nuclear power plants. Extreme heatwaves, rising sea levels, intensified storms, and flooding threaten to disrupt critical cooling systems at these facilities, potentially leading to catastrophic meltdowns and widespread radioactive contamination…."

“Could this be the end of humanity?”

BEGIN TRANSMISSION .  .  .  .

[This is an announcement from your government.]

[As the world continues to grapple with unimaginable hardship due to radiation, famine, and drought, we stand here today as a beacon of resilience and hope.]

[For more than a decade, our nation's resolute policy of strategic isolation has shielded us from the failures that have overwhelmed other countries. While global supply chains collapsed, ecosystems faltered, and civil order eroded in many places, our careful stewardship of resources, unified national effort, and forward-thinking preparations have ensured that our fields remain productive, our water supplies secure, and our communities strong.]

[This abundance we enjoy today is not an accident. It is the direct result of the sacrifices and contributions made by the Lee Family, the discipline of our people, and the unwavering leadership that has guided us through these darkest times.]

[Our unity has been our greatest strength, though we know the road ahead remains challenging. The full restoration of the world we once knew will require patience, perseverance, and continued cooperation. But we make this solemn promise to you: we will not rest until the world is fully restored to the prosperity, security, and civilization it once embodied.]

[Let us take rightful pride in our survival.]

[We extend our deepest gratitude for the trust you have placed in us. Your faith strengthens our resolve. In return, we renew our sacred commitment and will continue to protect you, to provide for you, and lead you toward a brighter future.]

[Long live our nation. Long live our people.]
