Chapter 1: Slow Romance I

Chapter Text

2013 – IPL: RCB vs MI

It was the second match of IPL 2013, and the cricketing world was buzzing with excitement. For one young player, though, the spotlight felt especially intense. Jasprit Bumrah, an unassuming debutant, had just been announced in the playing XI for the Mumbai Indians.

The murmurs started almost immediately.

Coach 1: "Do you think this debutant will be able to handle the pressure? In such a high-stakes match?"

Coach 2: "We can't afford to lose because of a rookie bowler. His action seems weird—will he deliver under pressure?"

Bumrah heard the whispers but kept his composure. While doubts surrounded him, the young bowler had one goal: to prove he belonged.

On the opposing side stood Virat Kohli, RCB's star batter, known for dominating bowlers with his sheer class and aggression. Kohli, a regular contender for the Orange Cap, was in prime form. Dismissing him would be nothing short of a dream for the debutant.

The Battle: Bumrah vs. Kohli

Virat Kohli walked to the crease with his usual swagger, the RCB jersey clinging to his frame like a badge of invincibility. The crowd erupted, chanting his name. Kohli responded with a casual wave, exuding confidence.

At the top of his mark, Bumrah paused. His gaze was fixed on Kohli, studying every move. The young bowler had spent hours watching videos, planning every angle, every variation. Now, it was time to execute.

The First Few Deliveries:

Bumrah started his spell cautiously, testing Kohli with a tight line just outside off. The deliveries were tidy, forcing Kohli to defend or push for singles. The batter looked comfortable, biding his time.

But Bumrah wasn't done. He added subtle variations—slower deliveries disguised with an unchanged arm speed, followed by quicker ones skidding off the surface. Kohli began to adjust, but Bumrah noticed the shift. The RCB captain was starting to look for gaps, his patience thinning.

The Breakthrough Delivery

Bumrah ran in, eyes locked on the batter. He unleashed a back-of-a-length delivery that nipped back sharply off the seam. Kohli, expecting the ball to hold its line or move away, instinctively tried to flick it off his pads.

The movement caught him off guard. The ball thudded into his pad, low and plumb in front of the stumps. Bumrah exploded in a loud appeal, his hands raised high.

The umpire took a moment before slowly raising his finger. Virat Kohli, the prized wicket, was out. The crowd roared, but Bumrah stayed composed, his fist clenching briefly in celebration.

Aftermath:

The crowd fell silent before erupting in shock. Kohli, visibly annoyed at misjudging the delivery, trudged off, his head shaking slightly.

Bumrah, meanwhile, stood at the center of it all, his face a mixture of elation and calm. He didn't over-celebrate. A quiet fist pump and a nod to his teammates were enough.

The wicket wasn't just a dismissal. It was a message to every critic who had doubted him: Jasprit Bumrah had arrived.

In the dressing room, the murmurs of criticism had transformed into whispers of admiration. "This guy has something special," one coach admitted, grudgingly.

By the end of the match, everyone knew his name. Jasprit Bumrah wasn't just a debutant anymore—he was a bowler to watch out for.

That wicket wasn't just a dismissal; it was a statement. Jasprit Bumrah had arrived. While critics doubted him before the match, by the end of it, they couldn't stop praising the young bowler who took his first IPL wicket in style—and against one of the best in the game.

At last, MI lost the match by 2 runs. Bumrah took 3 wickets in total. Taking wickets of Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair.

2016 – ICT Party for Jasprit's Joining

The ICT party was alive with music and chatter, but Jasprit Bumrah felt oddly isolated. As he stood quietly in the corner, the new recruit, who had already made waves in the IPL, found himself unsure of how to break the ice. Surrounded by teammates, he couldn't help but feel like an outsider. The air hummed with conversation and laughter, but Jasprit stood there, quietly taking it all in.

Then, a voice—warm and familiar—cut through the murmur of the crowd.

Ravi Shastri: "Jassi, welcome to the family!"

Ravi Shastri, the former cricketer-turned-coach, approached him with a wide grin and a special surprise in hand: the jersey for all formats. The moment felt surreal, and Jasprit's face broke into a smile. This was it. His hard work, his sacrifices, had led him here. To the very top.

But there was something else—one pair of eyes was on him, cutting through the noise, unblinking. It was none other than Virat Kohli.

Virat's expression was a mix of mischief and curiosity, the cheeky personality he was famous for evident in his gaze. But as Jasprit caught his eye and offered a hesitant, but genuine, smile, something shifted. Virat's intense, concentrated look softened and a warm smile spread across his face.

It was an unspoken exchange, but it spoke volumes. Jasprit felt a strange sense of belonging, like he'd been accepted not just as a player, but as part of the team.

Ravi: "If you ever need guidance, just ask the pacer gang. They'll always help you."

Jasprit: (nodding with gratitude) "Thanks, Coach."

Rohit: (with a teasing smirk) "Vii, look! There's someone who took your wicket in his very first IPL match."

Virat: (smiling, but with a playful edge) "Panda, if you don't stop, your last warning will come. I'll kick you where it hurts."

Rohit: (laughing) "Come on, the RCB key batsman is quiet now!"

Virat: (smirking) "And even after taking my wicket, you guys lost by 2 runs."

Rohit: (scratching his head, feigning disbelief) "What, we lost? Seriously?"

Harry: (grinning) "Yeah, bro, we lost."

Rohit: (mock-groaning) "Man, this is really bad..."

Virat: (laughing) "Now come on, stop it, Panda panda bear."

Rohit: (rolling his eyes) "Shut up, Vii."

Virat: (with confidence) "This year, I'll show you my real batting skills. Just wait and watch."

Ravi: (laughing) "Don't worry, Jassi. These two? They're like brothers. They tease each other, but it's all good. It's just their way."

Jasprit couldn't help but chuckle, but what struck him most wasn't the teasing. It was Virat. The man who, on the field, was known for his fiery aggression, his celebratory outbursts after someone taking a wicket or reaching a milestone. But off the field, Virat's personality was refreshingly different. He was calm, relaxed, and approachable, yet still carried that cheeky spark.

The contrast was striking. On the field, Virat was a force to be reckoned with. Off it, he was someone who made you feel at ease, even if you had just taken his wicket in a match. There was a magnetic appeal to him, something Jasprit had only seen in glimpses before, but now it was all too clear.

It was in moments like these that Jasprit realized: Virat's greatness wasn't just about his on-field brilliance—it was about his ability to balance intensity and calm, the fierce competitor and the easygoing teammate, all in one.

As the evening unfolded, the affinity of the team embraced Jasprit. It wasn't just about playing cricket. It was about becoming part of something bigger, something he could feel in every laugh, every teasing word, every handshake. And he knew, as the night wore on, that this was where he truly belonged.

Ravi: "Shami, Umesh, Ishant, and Bhuvi, take care of Jassi, got it? And Ash, if you tell Jassi any more scientific facts or non-fiction stories and scare him off, I'll throw you out. Jaddu, don't tell him about any stories from your Jamanagar either. This is a warning!"

Shami: "I liked this! Both spinners got scolded, just for similar reasons!"

The Pacer Gang Returns Home After Their Practice Session

Rohit, with a mischievous grin, holds a live rat in his hands. Spotting Virat nearby, his inner prankster awakens. He approaches with a teasing glint in his eye. After seeing Rat, Vi starts to run away.

Rohit: "Hey, Vii! The chase master is scared of a little rat? This is totally not your thing!"

Virat: (wide-eyed in panic) "Jaddu! Rajput! Help me, save me from this rat!"

Rohit: "What did you say? Disrespect Ganesh ji's vehicle? You should take blessings from this rat!"

Virat: (nearly trembling) "It will eat my ears! Mahi bhai! Mahi bhai, where are you?"

Virat's terror reaches its peak as he scrambles around, looking for an escape. Seeing no other option, he leaps onto Jasprit's lap, clinging to him tightly. Jasprit, caught off guard, freezes, his face turning a bright shade of red as he nervously tries to comfort Virat.

Jasprit: (stammering slightly) "Vi... bhaiya, there's no need to be scared... I'm here."

Rohit notices this and his protective instincts kick in. His playful grin fades slightly as he steps forward.

Rohit: (firmly) "Vi, get down. You're scaring Jassi more. Don't test his courage!"

Ishant: (chuckling, unable to resist a jab) "This Cheeku always manages to embarrass himself."

Umesh: (grinning) "Look at Jassi! It's like this is the first time someone's trusted him so much."

Virat: (still panicked, ignoring the comments) "Tell Ro to throw the rat out! I'm not getting down!"

Rohit: (raising an eyebrow, his tone teasing but protective) "Oh? You're everyone's hero? But now you're a coward in front of a rat?" Then, softly to Jasprit, "Jassi, don't worry. I'll handle this."

Jasprit: (muttering hesitantly) "Bhaiya, we shouldn't make fun of someone's fear. That's not right."

Just then, Mahi and Ravi enter, drawn by the chaos.

Mahi: (looking around, slightly exasperated) "What's going on here? What's all this commotion about?"

Jaddu: (grinning) "Ro's scaring Vi with a live rat. It's quite the spicy scene!"

Mahi: (crossing his arms, his tone sharp) "Rohit, enough. Throw that rat outside immediately. You're scaring Cheeku too much."

Ravi: (leaning towards Mahi, whispering with a sly grin) "Tell me the truth, why are you being so strict? Is it because you're scared of rats yourself?"

Mahi: (defensive but trying to maintain his calm persona) "No, bro, that's not it."

Ravi: (smirking knowingly) "Mahiya, I know you too well."

Rohit finally tosses the rat outside, but not before giving Virat one last teasing look. Yet, his sharp eyes catch something. He notices how Jasprit is gently rubbing Virat's back in a comforting motion while holding him firmly around the lower back. A confused grin tugs at Rohit's lips, but he doesn't comment, choosing to let the moment pass.

Rohit: (muttering under his breath) "My Jassi is so soft, and if some people try to advantage over his kindness. I'll definitely execute them out."

Ravi: (clapping his hands) "Is everyone calm now? Good. Ro, next time, don't do anything that could actually harm someone or scare someone to death."

Mahi: (grinning) "And if you do, we'll make you a rat in front of Ganesh ji."

The room fills with laughter as the tension eases. Virat finally steps off Jasprit's lap, muttering his thanks under his breath, while Rohit gives Jasprit a firm pat on the back.

Rohit: (with a reassuring tone) "Don't worry, Jassi. If anyone messes with you, just know your brother is always here."

Jasprit smiles faintly, his heart swelling with gratitude. The camaraderie among the group settles into a comfortable rhythm as the evening continues.

Kitchen, Hardik dancing to Gujarati songs in the background while Rah and Bhuvi prepare lemonade.

Rah: (cutting lemons, glancing at Harry, then turning to Bhuvi) "Bhuvi bhai! Did you notice Jassi's behavior after that rat incident?"

Bhuvi: (stirring sugar into a jug) "What behavior?"

Rah: (gesturing dramatically) "Come on, Jassi was staring at his hands and smiling like a kid who got his favorite candy. And his cheeks were so red! He looked like a full tomato!"

Bhuvi: (pauses, thinking for a moment) "Hmm... Maybe he's still in shock that Cheeku trusted him the most, even though Ishant was standing right next to him. For Jassi, that's a huge thing."

Rah: (nodding slowly but unconvinced) "Make sense, but I don't know... it still felt kinda odd. Like there's something more to it."

Bhuvi: (handing Rah a glass of lemonade) "How about you sip on this and stop overanalyzing everything? Sometimes, things are simpler than they seem."

Rah: (takes a sip, still thoughtful) "Maybe... but if Jassi starts acting any more lovestruck, don't say I didn't warn you.

Hardik: (suddenly twirling and singing along) "Jassa bhaiya ka chehra laal, kya hai iska haal?" (starts laughing and dancing)

Bhuvi: (sighing, amused) Harry, concentrate on your moves. Let the boy breathe without your commentary.

Rah: (smirking) Harry might have a point though.

Bhuvi: (rolling his eyes) Oh please, Rah. Let the kid enjoy his moment of glory. Not everything needs to be a detective case.

They share a laugh as Harry continues dancing, his energetic moves filling the kitchen with cheerful chaos.

The Indian Cricket Team was in London for their India vs. England series. Tired of their regular roommates, they decided to switch things up.

Ash: "Mahi bhai! Can we switch roommates this time? I'm done with having the most annoying roommate ever."

Jaddu: (offended) "Excuse me! I'm not annoying; I'm special."

Ash: (sighing) "Specially annoying. I just want someone normal for once."

Ishant: "I feel you. I've been stuck with Umesh for way too long."

Mahi: (grinning) "I knew you guys would complain. That's why I prepared this!" (holds up a box) "Each slip has a room number. Two people will share a room. Pick one and let fate decide."

The players excitedly drew slips from the box.

Harry: (reading his paper) "Room 107! Looks like I'm with Jaddu bhai."

Jaddu: (smirking) "Congratulations, Harry. Room service with a side of sass!"

Ash: (mocking) "More like room dis-service. Anyway, I'm with Bhuvi in 108. Definitely dialing this number for mental peace."

Bhuvi: (dryly) "We're going to need it."

Jassi: (holding his slip) "Room 111."

Vi: (grinning) "Same here! This is going to be awesome!"

Ro: (groaning) "What?! No way! This can't be happening."

Vi: (teasing) "Oh, but it is, Panda! Come on, Jassi! Let's go check out our room."

Virat grabbed Jasprit's arm and led him out, leaving Rohit glaring after them, grumbling under his breath.

Ro: "This is the worst idea ever."

________________

That night, in Room 111, Jasprit finished his analysis of different star batter's battling style and stretched. He turned toward his bed, ready to sleep, when his eyes fell on Virat.

Virat was curled up in a small ball on his bed, clutching a panda bear tightly, his expression peaceful yet vulnerable.

Jasprit froze, his heart softening at the sight.

Jassi: (whispering to himself) "Cheeku bhaiya, you're too good... too precious for this world."

Quietly, he picked up the blanket and draped it over Virat, making sure he was warm.

Without thinking, Jasprit settled onto the same bed. Despite the other bed being empty, he instinctively wrapped an arm around Virat, holding him close, as if to shield him from any harm.

For the first time in a while, Jasprit felt utterly at peace, falling asleep with a faint smile on his face.

________________

Virat stirred awake, slowly opening his eyes. He felt a warm weight against him and froze when he realized Jasprit's arm was draped over him tightly. Turning his head slightly, he found Jasprit sleeping peacefully beside him.

Virat: (softly, to himself) "Jassi?"

Jasprit stirred at the sound of his name, blinking awake. He quickly realized their position, and his face turned bright red.

Jasprit: (sitting up hastily) "Cheeku bhaiya! I... uh... good morning!"

Virat: (sitting up, clutching his panda bear) "Good morning? Jassi, what was happening here?"

Jasprit: (stammering) "You were sleeping in the cold, outside the blanket... I was just trying to cover you. And... somehow, I ended up sleeping on the bed too."

Virat eyed him suspiciously for a moment but then softened.

Virat: (grinning faintly) "Alright, but next time, sleep on your bed. Got it?"

Jasprit: (nodding quickly) "Absolutely, bhaiya!"

After a few minutes, Rohit stormed into Room 111, ready to call Virat out for something—anything. What he wasn't prepared for was the sight in front of him.

Ro: (eyes wide) "What the heck?! You two are cuddled up on the same bed?!"

Virat groggily opened his eyes, instantly annoyed at the interruption.

Vi: (yawning, still lying down) "Pretty much, yeah. Now go get ready, Rohit. You're still in those ridiculous bear pajamas."

Rohit glanced down at his pajamas and frowned but didn't back down.

Ro: (pointing at them) "Vi, come on, yaar! You can't do this! This is so... weird."

Vi: (sitting up, exasperated) "I didn't ask him, okay?! He must've been too tired to go to his own bed. Mine's closer to the table, so he just fell asleep here."

Jasprit stirred, rubbing his eyes, and sat up with a sheepish look on his face.

Jassi: (softly) "Good morning... Ro bhaiya."

Rohit glared at him before turning back to Virat, still suspicious.

Ro: (narrowing his eyes) "So... nothing happened?"

Vi: (throwing a pillow at Rohit) "YES, nothing happened! Now stop being dramatic and go get changed before someone sees you like that."

Ro: (grumbling) "I'm not being dramatic..." (mutters under his breath as he leaves) "Bear pajamas aren't even that bad."

As the door closed, Virat and Jasprit exchanged glances, Jasprit clearly embarrassed.

Jassi: "Sorry, Cheeku bhaiya... I—"

Vi: (cutting him off) "It's fine, Jassi. Just don't make it a habit, okay?"

Jasprit nodded quickly, though his faint smile suggested he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea.

It was practice time for the series, and the Indian Cricket Team was preparing for their big match. The players were all on the field, stretching and getting ready for their specific drills. Mahi took charge, as always, setting up the practice routine for the day.

Mahi: (clapping his hands) "Rahul and Bhuvi, come here. I'll show you how to stump for swing balls, alright? We need to sharpen that technique for the upcoming match."

Rah: (nodding seriously) "Got it, Mahi bhai."

Mahi: (pointing to another group) "Jassi, you're with Cheeku today. Start with some batting practice, alright?"

Jassi: (giving a playful salute) "Understood, Mahi bhai!"

Mahi: (gesturing to another pair) "Shami, you go with Rohit for some fielding drills."

Ro: (frowning and looking at Mahi) "What? Why does Vi get Jassi? I'm the one who needs the practice, not him!"

Mahi: (raising an eyebrow and smirking) "Because I said so, and I don't take questions from players who still wear pajamas with bears on them."

Ro: (looking down in mock horror) "You're not gonna let that go, are you?"

Mahi: (chuckling) "Not in a million years. Now go and get ready, you're wasting time."

Rohit let out a dramatic sigh as he trudged away to his assigned partner, Shami, muttering about unfair pairings under his breath. Meanwhile, Virat and Jasprit began their practice session.

As they stood on the pitch, ready to start, it didn't take long for the atmosphere to shift. To anyone watching, it was obvious—what was supposed to be a focused, intense practice quickly looked more like a romantic comedy. They were laughing, teasing each other, and working together so effortlessly that it felt like a scene straight out of a movie.

Vi: (smiling, taking his stance) "Alright, Jassi, give me your best. But if you bowl me out, I'll make you run a lap."

Jassi: (laughing) "Oh, don't worry. I'll make sure you don't get out. But you better be ready for my deliveries!"

The two of them went back and forth, their banter filling the air along with the sounds of the ball hitting the bat and gloves. Their rhythm was effortless, and there was a chemistry between them that even the other players couldn't ignore.

Ro: (yelling from across the field, waving his arms) "Oi, Vi! We need a century from you today, and Jassi, don't slack off. I need at least five wickets from you by the end of next match!"

Vi: (grinning, not missing a beat, while Jasprit lined up to bowl) "I need 200 runs from your bat, Panda. Don't let me down!"

Rohit rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but smirk at the easy affinity between the two. As he jogged to his fielding position with Shami, he muttered under his breath, "Of course, Vi gets Jassi. Why wouldn't he?"

Meanwhile, Virat and Jasprit were in their element, playing off each other's strengths. Jasprit's bowling was sharp and precise, while Virat's batting was aggressive and confident. They were so in sync that it seemed like they were performing in front of a crowd rather than practicing.

Virat winked at Jasprit before taking another shot at the ball, sending it flying across the field. The two were lost in their world, completely ignoring the commotion around them.

Vi: (turning to Jassi with a smirk) "If you bowl me out, I'll personally send you a lifetime supply of panda bears."

Jassi: (mockingly) "What would I even do with that? You're lucky I'm even letting you hit my balls."

Rohit could only shake his head as he watched the two of them. He still couldn't believe how easily they turned a practice session into something almost too comfortable, too familiar. The air between them crackled with unspoken understanding, and even the other players started taking notice of how much fun Virat and Jasprit were having.

Ro: (under his breath, rolling his eyes) "This is ridiculous. I can't believe I have to deal with this all day..."

Mahi and Ravi sir were in a deep discussion, their voices low as they analyzed the team's upcoming strategies. However, Mahi's attention shifted when he noticed Jassi heading toward the door.

Mahi: (calling out) "Jassi, could you send Cheeku here for a moment?"

Jassi: (nodding) "Sure, bhai!"

Jassi made his way toward where the other players were hanging out, playing games, and getting on each other's nerves.

Jassi: (grinning as he called out) "Cheeku bhaiya!! Mahi bhai is calling for you!"

Vi: (looking up from his phone, half-smiling) "Me? Okay, I'm coming..."

The two of them left, walking out together, and the rest of the group exchanged glances.

Ishant: (raising an eyebrow) "Wait... did Jassi just call Vi, Cheeku?"

Jinks: (laughing) "He did, and it wasn't a mistake, either!"

Shikar: (chuckling) "If any of us tried that, we'd be dead by Vi's hands. Only Mahi bhai can call him that, and maybe you guys."

Ro: (annoyed) "I swear, they're getting closer. I saw them sleeping in the same bed at morning earlier."

The group went quiet, processing the new juicy bit of information.

Rahul: (grinning) "I know, right? And have you seen Jassi's face when Vi asks him to taste his cooking? He can't stop smiling!"

Yuzi: (teasing) "Forget about that! Vi bhai's always off to meet the MI team, and Jassi's always tagging along. Whenever he sees me, he asks, 'Where's Vi bhai?'"

Bhuvi: (cooing) "Aww, Jassi likes our Viru."

Ro: (rolling his eyes) "That can't happen... no way."

Ash: (grinning mischievously) "Oh, it's happening. Who cares? They look good together anyway."

The group shared amused glances, some teasing, some curious, as they watched the two teammates go from just being companions to something... more.

Vi was getting ready for the evening hangout, carefully putting together an outfit that would turn heads. He dressed in a sleek black shirt with a corset-style fit that emphasized his physique, paired with black pants that hugged his legs perfectly. The entire look screamed confidence and allure—he was a walking course meal.

Jassi walked in just as Vi finished adjusting his shirt, his eyes wide with admiration.

Jassi: (hesitant but curious) "Cheeku bhaiya? Where are you going looking like this?"

Vi: (grinning at his reflection) "Going out with some cricketers for a hangout, why?"

Jassi: (brightly) "Can I join in? Pleaseee!"

Vi turned to face him, thinking for a moment. He considered the request, then shrugged with a smile.

Vi: "Sure, why not? Get ready, okay? But no backing out now!"

Jassi's eyes sparkled, and he dashed off to get ready. A few minutes later, he emerged from his room wearing an outfit that mirrored Vi's. Black shirt, fitted pants, the whole look—he looked like they could be twins. Or better yet, a couple.

Vi: (impressed, raising an eyebrow) "You look very handsome."

Jassi: (grinning cheekily) "Not just like you, Cheeku bhaiya, but maybe a little better."

They both laughed at the playful exchange, but their moment was interrupted when Manish appeared in the doorway, giving them a look of disbelief.

Manish: (smirking) "Where are you two off to, looking like this?"

Vi: (nonchalantly) "To hang out with some cricketers, why?"

Jaddu: (mocking, arms crossed) "Oh, so we're not cricketers in your eyes now, huh?"

Vi: (chuckling) "Jad, I got an invitation for this. Jassi asked if he could come, so I said yes. I'm allowed to bring one date, you know."

Jassi's face lit up like a Christmas tree at the mention of the word date.

Jassi: (with a wide smile, eyes twinkling) "I'm a date now!"

Vi: (playfully ruffling his hair) "Yep, you're my date for the evening."

Bhuvi: (raising an eyebrow, suspicious) "What about me, huh?"

Vi: (teasing) "Well, Bhuvi, if you want, you can join us too."

Bhuvi: (shaking his head with a dramatic sigh) "No way. Warner's going to see me and start flirting with me. Not happening."

Vi: (laughing) "Come on, Bhuvi, give Warner a chance. He's one of the sweetest players I've met. Maybe you'll fall for him."

Bhuvi: (with a mischievous grin) "Should I send this to the 'We Like to Annoy Warner' group chat, huh?"

Vi: (groaning, facepalming) "Please don't do that. I beg you."

Jassi: (teasing, whispering to Bhuvi) "You know, I think Warner would be a great match for you."

Bhuvi: (mock gasp) "You're plotting against me! I can't believe it!"

The group exchanged amused glances, and just when it seemed like Bhuvi was going to come around, they headed for the party.

At the party, the duo walked in together, their matching outfits immediately catching the eyes of everyone in the room. Many players complimented their looks as they entered.

Starc: (approaching with a playful smile) "Well, well, don't you two look good? Best batsman and best bowler from India."

Vi: (smiling widely) "Thank you, Starcey. You look fabulous too. Actually, I think we all slay tonight."

Starc: (laughing confidently) "Of course! I slay every runway, you know."

Vi: (teasing) "You need to stay away from those drama queens, though."

Starc: (shrugging dramatically) "For that, I'd have to isolate myself from my team, then. But let's be real, everyone here is a drama queen."

Vi: (smirking) "Touche, Starc. Touche."

The two exchanged banter back and forth, while others couldn't help but laugh at their playful exchanges.

As the night progressed, the room buzzed with excitement and laughter, and many cricketers took turns complimenting the duo. Mahi even joined the conversation, noticing how comfortable and carefree Jassi and Vi looked together.

Mahi: (teasing, raising an eyebrow) "You two look like you're part of some new couple goals or something. When did this happen?"

Vi: (shrugging, grinning) "Guess it just happened, Mahi bhai. What can I say? Jassi's a pretty great date."

Jassi: (with a wink, teasing Mahi) "You'll have to ask Cheeku bhaiya that. He's the one who invited me."

Mahi: (laughing) "You both make a great pair. Maybe I should take notes."

The night was filled with laughter, stories, and inside jokes, as Jassi and Vi continued to steal the spotlight with their chemistry, humor, and undeniable charm.

At the party, the atmosphere was electric, and the cricketers were mingling with excitement. Jassi and Vi, looking absolutely stunning in their matching outfits, stood together at the center of the room. They were surrounded by players from different teams—India and other international stars like Kane, Boult, Root, and many others. The music slowed to a soft, romantic tune that seemed to make everything else fade away.

Kane: (grinning, raising a drink) "Looks like it's showtime for Jassi and Vi."

Boult: (laughing, to Kane) "If they don't pull this off, we'll never hear the end of it."

Root: (smiling, teasing) "Come on, let's see if they can actually dance, or are they just here for the spotlight?"

The crowd parted, and Jassi confidently walked toward the center, Vi right beside him. There was a clear air of leadership in Jassi's movements, his posture straight and proud as he extended his hand to Vi with an assured smile.

Jassi: (with authority) "Let's show them, Cheeku bhaiya."

Vi: (with a gentle smile, placing his hand in Jassi's) "Lead the way, Jassi."

As the music started to play, their bodies moved in perfect sync, and the energy shifted. The crowd watched in awe as Jassi took control of the dance. With every step, Jassi's confidence was undeniable—his movements were fluid, yet powerful, making it clear that he was in charge. Vi followed his lead, but it was Jassi who dictated the pace and intensity of the dance.

The crowd, including Kane, Boult, and Root, stood in completely involved in the performance, impressed by the chemistry and dominance Jassi exuded in every movement. The way he held Vi close, spun him around, and brought him back effortlessly made it seem like they had been practicing for years.

Boult: (whispering to Kane) "I knew Jassi had it in him. He's not just good with the bat and ball, he's a pro on the dance floor too."

Kane: (nodding in agreement) "Yeah, the way he's taking charge—he's not just dancing, he's owning it."

Jassi's eyes locked with Vi's as he guided him through each step, pulling him closer during the slower parts of the dance. The connection between them was undeniable, not just as teammates, but as something more. Vi, though more reserved, couldn't help but be swept up in Jassi's presence, his confidence shining through.

Jassi: (in a low, teasing voice) "Don't get too lost in the moment, Cheeku bhaiya, we still have a crowd watching."

Vi: (grinning, slightly flustered) "How could I not? You're mesmerizing."

As they twirled and moved together, the other players couldn't help but cheer them on.

Root: (to the group, clapping) "This is unbelievable. They've got the whole place captivated."

Warner: "Jassi's got all eyes on him—no wonder he's so confident."

Kane: "No one can pull off a dance like this and still keep their cool. He's a natural leader."

When the music reached its end, Jassi spun Vi one final time and pulled him back into his arms, their faces inches apart. The atmosphere around them shifted to one of complete intimacy, the room quieting as everyone was swept into the energy between them.

Vi: (breathlessly) "You always know how to steal the show, Jassi."

Jassi: (with a playful smirk) "It's not stealing the show, it's simply owning it, Cheeku bhaiya."

As the song ended, the crowd erupted into applause, whistling and cheering. Jassi and Vi stood in the center, arms around each other, smiles on their faces. The connection between them was evident, not just in their performance, but in the way they held each other, comfortable and secure in the moment.

Kane: (raising his glass to Jassi) "Well done, mate. You were born for the spotlight."

Boult: (to Vi) "And you? You make a great co-star. You two make quite the pair."

Jassi: (with a cocky grin) "Of course we do. We're a team in everything."

Vi: (laughing softly, his hand resting on Jassi's shoulder) "Couldn't have asked for a better partner."

As the night went on, the mood was lighter, with more laughter and chatter. But for everyone in the room, the dance between Jassi and Vi remained the highlight of the evening. Their chemistry, both in and out of the game, was undeniable, and even the other players couldn't help but feel the magic between them.

________________

All the players, except Jassi, Vi, Mahi, Ro, and Ravi sir, had gathered in a corner of the room. The tension was palpable as they discussed the ongoing situation between Jassi and Vi.

Rah: (frowning) "This is getting too much!!"

Kul: (confused) "What's too much?"

Rah: (gesturing to the direction of Jassi and Vi) "Jassi acting all foolish in love, and Vi bhai being so obvious—like, what the actual hell."

Harry: (mockingly) "You're cursing now too? What happened to the calm, wise Rahul?"

Sky: (laughing) "Should we just do something to make Jassi admit that he likes Vi bhai? It's getting ridiculous."

Harry: (grinning) "I have an idea! Sky, how about you ask Vi bhai out right in front of Jassi?"

Sky: (eyes widening) "What?! In front of Jassi? And in the next day, I'll be dead? No thank you."

Bhuvi: (chuckling) "Guys, you don't get it. Jassi's like a protective lion when it comes to Vi. Remember that test series where Archer hurt Vi? Jassi went into full feral mode, like he was ready to take down the whole team by his own."

Sky: (grinning) "Okay, so here's my idea. We know Vi's popular ship is Rohirat, right? So, let's gather the most romantic, over-the-top, ridiculous pictures and artworks of Rohirat. Then, we all start talking about how they're the best romantic ship in the cricket world—in front of Jassi."

Harry: (laughing) "Jassi's gonna lose his mind! He's too possessive to handle that."

Shikar: (nodding) "I love it. Then, we'll get Mahi bhai to say it too—Rohirat's the best ship. Watch Jassi lock himself away in his own room after that."

Jaddu: (smirking) "This will be gold. Jassi won't know what hit him."

Yuzi: (getting into the planning) "Alright, so me, Kullu, Jaddu, and Harry will find the cheesiest, most romantic pictures of Rohirat. Give us one day. We'll have everything ready."

Everyone: (cheering) "Mission Jassirat, let's go!!"

The plan was set. The group couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Jassi's reaction. They knew it was going to be the ultimate test of his feelings, and it was only a matter of time before Jassi would finally have to face what everyone else already knew: he was head over heels for Vi.

As they all dispersed to put their plan into action, the mischievous smiles on their faces showed how excited they were about the impending drama. No one could deny that they were about to stir up some serious chaos in the name of love.

Shikar: (grinning to the others) "It's gonna be legendary. I can't wait to see Jassi's face."

The next day, the group was already gathered, excited and ready for their plan to unfold.

Yuzi: (grinning) "Okay, we've got it all ready—every single ridiculous Rohirat picture and artwork that we could find."

Kullu: (laughing) "Some of these are straight out of fanfiction, guys. This is gonna be hilarious."

Harry: (holding up a printout of a particularly cheesy photo) "This one's gold. I can already picture Jassi's face when we start gushing over these."

Jaddu: (eyeing the pictures) "We'll need to make sure we all drop the 'best romantic ship in the world' line. We don't want to give him a chance to back out."

Sky: (nodding) "Exactly. Let's be relentless about it. He'll crack."

As they gathered around the room, the air was thick with excitement and mischief. They were ready to set the trap. The plan was simple: casually talk about how much they adored the Rohirat ship and how cute Vi and Rohit Sharma were together—right in front of Jassi.

Meanwhile, Jassi and Vi were practicing on the field, completely oblivious to the chaos being set up.

The group, however, wasted no time. They were ready to execute their plan, and soon they gathered together, trying their best to sound casual but also a little over-the-top as they began discussing Rohirat.

Rah: (pointing to a picture of Rohit and Virat from a fan page) "Guys, I swear this is the best ship in the world. No one even comes close to how cute they are together."

Shikar: (grinning) "Totally! They're goals. Look at this one—Rohit lifting Virat like a potato sack on his shoulders? I mean, come on. How can you not love them?"

Yuzi: (chuckling) "Yeah, this is the essence of romance. If these two aren't a couple, then I don't know what is."

Hardik: (Reading fan's comment over some Rohirat's post) "I heard they're even more romantic off the field. Vi and Rohit together? No competition, really."

Bhuvi: (laughing) "You know, I bet even Mahi bhai thinks Rohirat is the best ship."

Mahi: (who had joined the conversation unknowingly) "Well, you're not wrong. I've seen their chemistry—it's undeniable."

Ravi: (walking in and glancing at the photos) "Rohirat is definitely the top ship, no doubt. The way Rohit picks up Virat like he's royalty? I love it."

At that moment, the conversation was in full swing, and the tension around Jassi was palpable. He had been quietly standing off to the side, but now, his eyes were fixed on them. His jaw clenched, and his fists tightened, trying to control the rage building inside him.

He couldn't handle it anymore. Vi, the one person who had always been his, was now being openly gushed over with another man, even though that another man is his brother—one who wasn't even remotely in the picture. The jealousy, the confusion, the realization—everything crashed down on him in an instant.

Without saying a word, he turned and stormed out, his anger barely contained. The rest of the group, oblivious to the fire they had lit, continued their discussion, unaware of how close they were to pushing Jassi past his breaking point.

Vi, realizing that Jassi had gone silent and left abruptly, looked up, his smile fading.

He excused himself from the group, his mind racing. He had no idea what had just happened, but something wasn't right. He found Jassi's shoes near the door and followed the trail that led outside. When he stepped onto the roof, he saw Jassi sitting on the rooftop wall, staring into the distance, his back to him.

Vi walked up slowly, his heart sinking as he saw the pain in Jassi's posture.

Vi: (softly) "Jassi..."

Jassi didn't respond, but Vi could see the slight tremor in his shoulders, as though he were holding back something monumental.

Vi hesitated for a moment before sitting down next to him. The breeze was cool, and the sky was just starting to turn dark. Vi placed a hand gently on Jassi's back.

Vi: (gently) "Are you okay, Jassi?"

Jassi inhaled sharply, and for a moment, it looked like he would brush it off. But the words caught in his throat, and he finally let out a soft sigh.

Jassi: (barely above a whisper) "Vi... I... I don't know what's wrong with me. I... I can't stand seeing you with someone else."

Vi's heart skipped a beat. His instincts told him what this was about, but he needed to hear Jassi say it.

Vi: (softly) "What do you mean?"

Jassi turned slightly, meeting his gaze for the first time, his eyes dark with emotion.

Jassi: "I don't know how to explain it. Every time I see you laughing with them or even talking to them, something inside me snaps. I get angry. I get... jealous. I hate it, Vi. I hate that I'm feeling this way."

There was a long pause as Jassi stared at the ground, his hands clenched in his lap. The weight of his feelings hung heavily in the air between them.

Vi's voice was calm, but there was an undeniable tenderness in it.

Vi: "Jassi, I... I never meant to make you feel like this. You've always been there for me. I never thought you would feel that way about me."

Jassi finally looked up at him, his expression raw, vulnerable in a way Vi had never seen before. His voice was shaking, but he didn't hold back anymore.

Jassi: (quietly) "I love you, Vi. I've loved you for so long, but I was too scared to admit it... even to myself. I'm sorry."

Vi's breath caught in his throat. There was no mistaking it now. He didn't need any more words. Everything was laid bare between them.

Vi reached out, cupping Jassi's cheek gently, his thumb brushing away a tear that had slipped down his face.

Vi: "Jassi, I love you too."

Jassi's eyes widened in shock, but a soft smile tugged at his lips as he looked into Vi's eyes. The world around them seemed to fade as they sat there, no longer needing any more words. Just the quiet, overwhelming truth of their feelings for each other.

Vi leaned forward, pressing his forehead against Jassi's, their breaths mingling in the cool evening air.

As Vi and Jassi finally share the news that they are officially dating, the rest of the team reacts in a mix of surprise, excitement, and teasing. Some of them immediately congratulate the couple, while others just smirk, making light of the situation. But amidst the noise and cheer, Ro stands still, his protective instincts flaring up immediately.

Ro: (eyes narrowing, voice low) "Wait, wait, wait. You two are actually dating now?"

Vi: (nervously chuckling, scratching the back of his head) "Yeah, Ro. It's official."

Ro: (voice turning sharp) "I can't believe this. Jassi, you know how many people would love to hurt you if they see Vi dating you, right? And now you're with him?"

Vi: (frowning, stepping closer to Jassi) "Hold up, Panda. I'm standing right here."

Jassi: (looking up at Ro, his calmness contrasting with Ro's anger) "Ro bhaiya, I'm fine. I've made my choice. I know what I'm doing."

Ro: (ignoring Jassi, speaking directly to Vi) "You don't understand. You think you can handle him? Do you even know how fragile he is? How easily he gets hurt? You think I'm just going to stand by and let you mess with his heart?"

Jassi: (his voice firm, but calm) "Ro bhai, enough. I've been dealing with this for a long time. I don't need you to protect me anymore. I'm not a kid anymore. And Vi—Vi is someone I trust, someone who will take care of me."

Vi: (stepping forward, standing tall and meeting Ro's gaze) "Ro, you're my friend, but Jassi and I have talked about this. We've made this decision together. You can't just control everything. I'll protect him, not hurt him and you know me..."

Ro: (his voice shaking slightly, the anger and protectiveness bubbling over) "I've been protecting him since he was kid. I've seen how much he's been through, and I've seen how much he's suffered. And now you think you're going to swoop in and be the one to make everything better? I won't let you hurt him, Vi. Not like this. I won't let you break his heart."

Jassi: (sighs, his voice low but full of sincerity) "Ro bhaiya, I know you care. But I've chosen this. I'm happy with Vi. If you really want to protect me, then trust me to make my own choices. Trust me to handle this."

Ro: (looking at Jassi with conflicted emotions, his heart torn) "You deserve the best, Jassi. Not some player who—"

Vi: (interrupting, stepping between them) "Jassi deserves me, Ro. And I'm going to give him everything I have. I know I've messed up in the past, but this time is different. This time, I'm in it for real."

Ro: (his voice drops to a cold, intense whisper) "You better not mess this up, Vi. I swear, if you hurt him... if you break his heart, I'll make you regret it."

Jassi: (pulling Vi closer, his voice gentle but firm) "Ro, I love you like a brother. But I've made my choice. Please respect that."

Ro: (standing still, fists clenched at his sides, looking at Jassi and Vi in silence for a long moment, his chest heavy with unspoken emotions) "Fine," he says, his voice thick with tension. "I'll respect it. But don't think I'll just let it slide if anything goes wrong."

Jassi: (smiling softly, squeezing Vi's hand) "You don't have to worry, Ro bhaiya. Everything's going to be okay."

Ro: (turning around, still uneasy, but backing off) "I'll be watching. If you mess with him, I'll come for you. I don't care who you are."

Vi: (his voice low, resolute) "You don't have to worry, Ro. I won't break his heart."

Ro: (pauses, then mutters under his breath) "You better not." And with that, Ro walks away, his mind still reeling from the protective urges that won't leave him.

Jassi: (looking up at Vi, his voice soft) "He's not mad at you. He's just... he's just scared of losing me, I guess."

Vi: (gently brushing a lock of hair from Jassi's face) "I know. I get it. But I won't let him lose you, Jassi. Not to anyone, not even to himself."

Jassi: (leaning into Vi, the weight of everything that's been said between them finally starting to settle) "I trust you. But it'll take time for Ro bhaiya to accept it."

Vi: (nodding) "I can handle that. We can handle that."

As Ro walks off, his mind still churning with worry, Jassi and Vi stand together, the air around them filled with unspoken understanding. The road ahead may not be easy, but together, they are ready to face whatever comes their way.

It was a time for an interview, and a married couple, known as the best batsman and bowler duo, were sitting in front of the interviewer.

Interviewer: Welcome, the best batsman and bowler couple! It's an honor to have you here today. I have a question for both of you. If you had to practice with just another person besides each other, would that be the best choice?

Jassi: (grins mischievously) That's actually true. Why search for anyone else when you already have the best one right next to you?

Vi: (nods in agreement) Exactly. Why would I go looking for practice partners when I've got him? He's the perfect match for me, both on and off the field.

Interviewer: (laughs) Well, that's adorable! Now, let's switch gears a little. Who spoils the other the most?

Vi: (without hesitation) In gifts, it's me. I'm all about surprising him with the best gifts—anything to make him smile.

Jassi: (smirks) Okay, that's true. But when it comes to surprises, trips, and little adventures, I'm the one who takes the lead. I like to surprise him with spontaneous trips, and trust me, he loves them.

Interviewer: That's so sweet! Now, let's talk socializing. Who drags whom out of the house for socializing?

Jassi: (points at Vi with a teasing smile) It's Vi. He's the one who always wants to stay in with his books, and I have to convince him to get out and meet people.

Vi: (defensively) Hey, that's not true! I do go out—sometimes. He's just exaggerating!

Jassi: (laughing) You know it's true! I practically have to drag you out. You'll find every excuse under the sun to stay home!

Interviewer: (chuckles) Looks like there's some playful teasing going on here. Now, one last question—who loses the match when you both are playing, just so the other can have fun?

Vi: (grinning) Usually, we're both competitive, but sometimes... just sometimes... Jassi lets me win, and I know it. He sacrifices his game for me, and that's why I love him.

Jassi: (laughs) Okay, fine, I admit it. I might let him win sometimes—only because he's so determined to win. But honestly, it's all in the spirit of fun. I'm not afraid to lose to him once in a while.

Interviewer: (laughs heartily) That's incredibly cute! Alright, I can feel the love in the air here. But there's one more thing I've noticed—there's a little distance between you two. pauses dramatically Jassi bro, are you feeling that distance?

Jassi: (grins mischievously, noticing Vi sitting a bit farther away from him) Oh, I am. But I know just what to do. (stands up and gently pulls Vi's chair closer to him, placing his arm around his waist in a playful, possessive manner)

Vi: (looking startled at first, then melting as Jassi pulls him in) Uh, hey, what are you doing? We're in an interview!

Jassi: (grinning widely) I'm just making sure we're close. What's the point of sitting far away when I can have you right here with me?

Interviewer: (wide-eyed, fanboying) Oh my gosh, this is the best promo. We could ever get! The chemistry between you two is beyond adorable!

Jassi: (laughing loudly) You can't resist, can you?

Vi: (blushing, trying to hide it) Seriously, I— (stops mid-sentence, realizing how much he enjoys being close to Jassi) Alright, you win. You're too cute.

Jassi: (smiling warmly) And you know it.

The interview continues with the interviewer grinning from ear to ear as the couple exchanges more playful banter. As Jassi snuggles closer to Vi, Vi pretends to be annoyed but can't hide the soft, loving smile that spreads across his face.

Interviewer: (finally wrapping up) Well, it looks like we've had the privilege of witnessing not only the best batsman and bowler duo but also the sweetest, most adorable couple! Thank you for this heartwarming interview. You've certainly set the bar for relationship goals!

Jassi: (laughing) We're just here to show people that love, and laughter go hand in hand—even on and off the field.

Vi: (melting into Jassi's embrace) Yeah, I guess I've got no choice but to smile and enjoy it. laughs softly

Interviewer: (grinning from ear to ear) This is it, folks. You just witnessed the best relationship in sports! What a lovely, sweet, and hilarious couple.

As the interview wraps up, the couple shares one last playful look. Jassi leans in for a soft kiss on Vi's cheek, and Vi grins shyly, melting even more as the interviewer stares, wide-eyed, at the display of affection.
