Work Text:
Yes, this is a proposal
“… and so, for this query, I am waiting for an answer with much anticipation, dear Doctor.”
The elegantly outspoken words of Garak were there, on the table. Not that he never spoke any other way, always using the best words to make his point.
Julian was flabbergasted though, the emotion showing clearly on his face too, but at this point he really could not help it either.
True, Julian and Garak had finally been out on a several dates lately. And, they had been a success, no complaints about it whatsoever. There really having been no doubt in Julian’s mind even before they would not be that, good, as the two seemed to be a perfect match despite being oh so very different.
But, this being their… what, fifth date and then counting, the question now presented to Julian was… a shock and a surprise.
Or was it really that if being totally honest with himself. And was it a good or bad shock and surprise?
They had spent a lot of time together before starting dating, not to mention all those joint missions and well… whatever came to mind, they had done a lot of things together prior. And they were good together, that much was true no arguments there. Both at work and in private as well.
But this… well, this was a whole can of worms Julian had not expected to be opening right now.
“Julian?”
Garak looked worried suddenly. Not sure what was wrong with his boyfriend. And also worried, that perhaps, he had overstepped, just a tad?
“Are you ill, my dear?”
The silence certainly new, Julian never the one to stay quiet for long periods of time.
“I um… no… it’s just.. that…”
“Yes?”
Julian was trying to figure out what and how to answer. In all honesty, there really was no counter argument he could think of at the moment, the response should have been easy enough and quite clear.
After all, this was what he wanted right? They both clearly did. It was natural progression, despite being presented rather soon, right?
And so, not really dwelling further into the reasons in the no-department, rafter leaning into to the why-not one, Julian knew his answer to give to Garak.
“Yes.”
Garak having dwelled in his own doubt and worry was a tad out of it by this time.
“Yes what now, dear?”
Julian smiled at Garak, seeing the love and care in Garak’s eyes present clearly, knowing his response had been the correct one to give without a doubt then and there.
“Yes love, I will marry you.”
