Innocence

Summary:

The little guy just wanted some dinner. How much more did the train wreck have to offer?

Notes:

Considering my last couple of mini stories were kind of downers, here’s one that’s a bit cuter. This is also a story no one remembers, since the two here were way too young for them to remember in the present day, so I thought I’d post it now.

This is about a day or two before their note in Prime’s Notes.

Chapter Text

The little orange sparkling had just hit the jackpot!

It’d been a couple of hours since he’d gone out to search for Energon. Normally, nanny would have brought some, but after last night’s adventure, she’d gone into a really deep sleep. The sparkling had tried to wake her, but his efforts had been in vain, and hunger had overcome frustration. Thus, he’d decided to go find some himself and come back.

He’d found it in the remains of a knocked-over train. How that happened, he couldn’t tell. Maybe it had to do with all the booming from last night? He didn’t like the booms, and this train was big enough that it could have caused them.

Whether it caused them or not, however, he didn’t particularly care. What he did care about were the upturned boxes of solid Energon scattered all over the ruined cars.

There were a few bots here or there, but they were all sleeping. The sparkling wouldn’t have any trouble at all getting the Energon he needed as long as he was quiet and didn’t bother them.

Thus, he set too with a good appetite, paying most attention to the sweet blue Energon. Still, anything and everything he could get at was welcome, and he’d fully energized before too long.

As he ate, however, a high-pitched squealing caught his attention. Pausing in his feast, he turned to the sound to find where it was coming from.

He didn’t have too long to look. Not too far away from the spilled Energon were other boxes with their contents scattered about. Most of them were uninteresting to the sparkling. Odd instruments, massive tools of uncertain shapes, the strange objects nanny had always told him to avoid. However, it was from under one of these boxes that the squealing was coming.

Lifting the box a crack, he found another sparkling, one even smaller than him. The little fellow was gold, and about a third of the orange sparkling’s size. He also appeared to be too young to have an alt mode other than his protoform, which he lay stuck in due to the confines.

Curiosity lighting in his spark, the orange sparkling lifted the box the rest of the way and hurried over to get a closer look. The gold sparkling transformed out of his protoform and peered up in response. Blue optics met green, and for a moment the two children just studied each other.

Then the gold sparkling began fussing again.

The orange sparkling was rather at a loss for what to do, until he remembered the Energon. Transforming and hurrying back over to the spilled energy, he began collecting small bits of solid blue. When he had as much as he could carry in his little cart mode, he drove back over to the fussing gold one.

Without waiting for invitation, the orange sparkling popped the largest piece he could find into the gold sparkling’s mouth. This seemed to surprise the little guy, as he left off in his crying. Taking a few minutes to finish off the piece, he paused, before opening his mouth again, this time in silence.

Piece after piece, the orange sparkling fed the bits to the golden one, until the little bot began turning his face away. Now energized, he calmed all the way, and smiled up at the older child.

Well, that was certainly enough for the orange one to make up his mind. He didn’t like being alone, and very much liked the idea of a little brother. He’d seen some other sparklings who’d had little siblings before; why shouldn’t he have this one?

Picking up the little gold sparkling, he began trudging his way back to nanny. They’d found Energon for now, and he felt like a good rest. He wouldn’t be able to carry his new little brother in his alt mode, but that was alright. They weren’t too far away from buildings, so it wouldn’t take too long to get there walking.

Shockwave received the report that while all shipped instruments were recovered, the ordered slave was missing. The price of a single Minibot protoform was deducted from losses.
