Frozen Hearts

Summary:

A comparison of two frozen hearts, warmed by the same person. The first Frozen movie from the perspective of Hans and Kristoff.

Chapter 1: Frost

Chapter Text

He liked her from the first moment he saw her. She was dressed in an elegant forest green gown (clearly in preparation for the evening’s ball), contrasting adorably with the pear green seaweed flopped on her face. He hastened to help her up and introduced himself.

“Prince Hans of the Southern Isles.”

She curtsied in return. “Princess Anna of Arendale.”

“Princess?” His heart leaped. “My lady.”

Hilariously, his horse followed his example and bowed to her as well, sending the boat they were on rocking forward. What followed was a meet-cute out of a fairytale, until the bells rang and she rushed away to attend the coronation.

This time, his eminently punchable horse raised a hoof to wave goodbye with him, sending him straight into the ocean under a capsized boat.

The shock of the cold water did nothing to distract his thoughts, though. He pushed to the surface and stared after her disappearing figure. He smiled.

He looked forward to seeing her again.

He disliked her from the first moment he saw her. In the middle of a blizzard as black as his mood, Kristoff pushed open the door to Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, to find the trader (to be expected), and some rich girl standing at the counter (definitely looked like they’d never done a day’s work in her entire life. And she was blocking the carrots.

Still, it was none of his business.

And then she made fun of his supply and demand difficulties, selling ice in a blizzard.

Still none of his business. Grab the supplies he needed, and go. The supplies cost more than he had, fine, he’d haggle the trader down somehow—but she kept pestering him with questions, and he finally snapped.

“Yes! Now back up, while I deal with this crook, here.”

Later, hiding out in the shed together with his reindeer Sven (yup, the trader threw him out), the annoying girl showed up again. She’d gotten him the supplies, and she wanted him to take her to the North Mountain.

Very well, he would help her. He looked forward to the end of the commission when he would never have to see her again.
