Beneath the Waves

Summary:

The thoughts that float in Hinako's mind as she lays in her room alone.

Work Text:

The open window carried in the summer breeze, cooling the room and bringing the salty scent of the sea along with it. Sunlight webbed through the billowing curtains, dancing over the room in ever changing patterns. To Hinako's half asleep eyes it looked like the room was gently rocking, swaying along with the wind. As she kept looking nausea welled up in her, like she was getting sea sick from the vision. Her unfocused gaze remained on the patterns despite the feeling. Maybe even because of it. It was the closest she might ever get to floating in the ocean.

Getting swallowed by its currents, being pulled into its depths without any struggle by a force so powerful and uncaring no one could blame her for submitting to. She would sink and sink until the water would crush her in its gentle embrace. Fish might slowly take pieces out of her as she drifted, one by one until no trace of Yaotose Hinako was left. No flesh, no bone, no memory. But she wasn't floating out in the wide, open ocean. She was laying in her home, which —- despite the summer heat —- felt colder and more empty than the sea.
