Work Text:

It’s a Saturday morning in the Holmes-Sanders household. Sherlock comes out of his room at 11am. His step-sister Victoria already sits at the kitchen table, eating breakfast while listening to something over her headphones. Sherlock goes to the fridge and opens it.

Suddenly he turns around to Victoria. „Did you drink my monster energy?!“

She looks up innocently. „You know I rarely drink energy, I‘m not a caffeine addict like you. And if you need it that bad, drink a coffee.“

Sherlock grunts and reluctantly makes coffee for himself. „Is my mother out with your father again?“

„Weekend trip to a spa, they are so…“ before Victoria can finish her sentence Sherlock jumps in with

„…disgusting, lovey dovey, unbearable?“

„Sounds about right, by the way, I‘m having friends over tonight, so just go to wherever you came from.“

„Ugh, your idiotic friends come over and I have to disappear?“ Sherlock asks annoyed.

„Yeah, because you’re so… you.“ Victoria tried to avoid being too harsh, she hated confrontation.

Sherlock rolled his eyes but got the hint. He’s heard it all, too rude, too harsh, too blunt, too eccentric, too unfocused. He grabs a toast and heads upstairs to his room, locking himself in.

Meanwhile Victoria was left feeling guilty, even if she didn’t like Sherlock, she never wants to hurt anyone‘s feelings.

A few hours later, her two best and oldest friends, Grace and Emily come over, they‘ve literally known each other since they were babies. Both got dirty blonde hair, Grace is average height while Emily is a little shorter.

Victoria greets them at the door and then they go inside.

„So basically this is actually my new stepmother‘s house, we moved in after my dad married her in November.“

Emily speaks up. „You mentioned two stepbrothers, where are they now?“

„Mycroft is the older one, he‘s 24 and studying at Oxford, he‘ll graduate this year I think. And Sherlock is 17, only half a year older than me. He‘s upstairs in his room. Honestly I think I might have hurt his feelings by telling him he was too himself to come downstairs while you‘re here.“

„Well, what is he like?“ Grace asks

„He can be quite blunt, bordering on disrespectful. Though he’s quite smart, barely pays attention in class and still gets full marks. His specialty is chemistry, I once caught him solving college level chemistry equations. But he’s also addicted to energy. He’s got autism and also ADHD, like you Emily.“ Victoria tries to summon up Sherlock’s character.

Grace mutters. „Sounds like a handful.“

Victoria nods. „I‘ll order us some pizzas for dinner. I suppose I should ask Sherlock if he wants one too. I’m back in a minute.“

With these words, she went upstairs and knocks on Sherlock’s door. But when he doesn’t answer she tries to open the door. It’s unlocked. Victoria opens the door, and finds Sherlock smoking out the window before he can hide it.

She notices the cigarette box on his desk.

„Those are my dad‘s cigarettes, aren’t they? Victoria states more than she asks.

Sherlock on the other hand looks like a child caught with his hand in the biscuit jar.
