A man is sitting with crossed legs on a mat with closed eyes. His face is stern and he is muttering something under his breath. The thumb of his right hand is circling inside a small bowl full of oil.
Some people are in front of him and holding their breath, trying not to disturb the priest. A minute later he opens his eyes and sprinkles some of oil on the forehead of a woman who has messy long hair, blank face and staring down.
As soon as he sprinkles the oil, the woman cries loudly and tries to be free from the hold of two men who are trying their best to keep Her on place.
"Leave her body." the man speaks with stern face staring at the empty place beside the woman.
"What?" the man suddenly glares at the empty place as if someone is answering him from there. "You Won't leave?" he glares with gritted teeth. He Again Sprinkles some oil on the woman's forehead and she screams again.
"Bring an egg. Fast!" he orders to his helper park jimin who almost runs out of the room and appears in 30 second with a dirty egg. It's the fresh laid egg he got from the small cage where some chickens are kept always.
The man murmurs something under his breath and blows the egg thrices. And then without any warning he smashes the egg on woman's head. Everyone gets starled but the woman screams loudly and loses his sense.
He dusts his hands and gets up. "She will be okay now. She went near the old pond after sunset with open hair and a spirit possessed her. Ask her not to repeat it again." he says. Then he walks outside and lets his helper park jimin handle the payment.
He is kim taehyung. 30 years old handsome unmarried man. The young rising priest of this village whom everyone blindly trusts. He is too young to be a priest but he has ALMOST mastered this profession from his father Who is also a priest. And his father mastered this art from his father means taehyung's grandfather. They are priests by generation.
This is going like this from the last 50-60 years, until one day a doctor appears in the hospital near the village.
Taehyung is sitting on the verenda of his house and trying to master how to cure cancer Through herbs, reading a book. Suddenly his helper cum best friend park jimin comes running to him.
"Taehyung!" jimin yells sitting beside taehyung.
"Why are you screaming?" taehyung asks annoyingly.
"There's a new doctor in the hospital. Remember the last one retired few months back.." jimin informs.
"New Doctor?" taehyung speaks with a frown.
"Yes. Unlike the old one, it's A very well educated one. Everyone is going to see him so i joined them too. He is very young and very handsome. I heard he got his job recently and the government transferred him here as his first workplace."
Taehyung laughs. "Again Doctor in our village? he will leave soon when he will get no patient like all other doctor left previously."
Jeon Jungkook arrives at the small village by the evening. The government has given a quarter for him to stay just five minutes away from his clinic. Since the time he has arrived, villagers are coming to see him as if he is any foreign person.
He is a 28 years old man. After completing his studies he was working in a private clinic. now he has passed the exam of the government job and is transferred here. At first he checks his small quarter which contains two rooms, one small living room place, one small kitchen and a balcony. This is government quarter so It's better than whatever village homes contain.
Jeon Jungkook gets his first patient next day when he is sitting in his cabin. Old clinic but is newly painted and fixed to make it look unquestionable.
He is going through a news paper and suddenly hears a voice "can i come inside, doctor?"
Jeon Jungkook turns his head to the door and sees a man is standing there, clutching his tummy with painful expression.
"Yeah come inside, what happened?" the doctor asks.
"Doctor i got lose motion, my stomach is paining." the patient says.
"Did you eat something that could trigger it?" he asks.
"Yes doctor, last night i ate some breads but there dates were expired." the patient says.
"Food poisoning. Don't eat foods with expired date. I'm giving you medicines. Take them." the doctor says writing a prescription.
"Will i be okay with medicines doctor? Should i call the priest?" the patient says hesitantly.
"Priest? What?" jungkook speaks in disbelief. "Who belives in priest in 2026? Take these medicines and you will be okay." jungkook says
The news spread like fire. For the first time, someone from this village has visited a doctor instead of the priest and got cured too. It hurt the young priest kim taehyung's ego so bad.
"Calling doctor instead of me? Oh I'll see how the doctor can continue here." kim taehyung says with a smirk.
At night, the assistant of jeon jungkook closes the clinic and both of them walk to different direction according to their places. Jeon Jungkook walks silently through the half broken road of the village. The weather is nice. Slowly he hums a soft melody feeling slightly happy. His first ever day as a government doctor. His parents must be so proud of him.
Jeon Jungkook is humming the melody in his own mind but suddenly he feels something or someone smacks his face. His head turns to other side by the force and he freezes on his place. He slowly touches his left cheek which is stinging by the force of the sudden powerful slap.
"What the fuck?" the doctor speaks in disbelief and looks around to see who slapped him like this. But all he sees is empty road, none but him.
He stands there for 5 minutes processing whatever happened. Then rubs his cheek slightly. "Must be my nerve issue. I gotta check myself first " he says and begins to walk.
Not knowing, someone from the end of the village, intentionally has done this to him.
