Chapter Text
Yunho's work life has always been mediocre. He never necessarily enjoyed being a CEO, nor did he hate it. He never looked forward to sitting at his work desk to go over paperwork, or meeting with potential business partners. Despite being uninterested, his job was basically his whole life. The family business was passed down to him almost 3 years ago when he graduated from college and his father decided to step down and retire. The daunting responsibilities of a CEO basically shoved down his throat at only 24 years old. Yunho observed the way his father did things at an early age, not necessarily by choice. His father took it upon himself to teach him how to be a good business man. He told him nothing is better than to prioritize your source of income, otherwise he’d never be successful. His advice did in fact lead him into being a better business man. Unfortunately he didn’t have much passion for it. He appreciated what was handed to him, but he wished he could have developed some hobbies or deeper interests through his youth. He often felt like he was an empty shell, no real personality or desire to be anything other than what his father expected him to be. He was good at his job, that was about all there was to him. His entire life, in retrospect, was boring.
When he approved the application for the new hire on his team, what he saw was far from what he expected. Most of his colleagues were middle aged men, alphas, who were boring and basically copies of each other. With omega spouses and kids that they barely tended to due to their busy work life, much like Yunho's own father. This new hire was sure a sight for sore eyes.
“Song Mingi” Yunho mumbled to himself as he looked over the man's resume. As he skimmed, he thought he was pretty qualified. He had a masters in business and a ton of volunteer hours and internship experience. He seemed well rounded and smart. He assumed that Song Mingi would be like every one of his other employees.
On Mingi's first day, Yunho didn't even bother to meet him right away. His schedule was packed, and meeting the new, irrelevant hire wasn't necessarily his main priority. He let the colleague he chose to train him handle the tour and basic procedures. He heard conversations in passing of Mingi being an omega, which wasn't out of the ordinary. Their workplace was an alpha dominant field but it wasn't extremely rare to have an omega every now and then. Scents weren't a problem either, with everyone being required to wear scent blockers to avoid any distractions. Yunho stayed neutral, the whispers doing nothing to peak his interest.
It was close to 7pm. Most of Yunho's colleagues had clocked out and gone home. Yunho had spent the whole day flooded with paperwork, locked away in his office. He decided to spend a little over time to complete it. He was tired. He began to organize his desk for the next day, and put his items back into his work bag. As he packed up he thought about the long hot bath he'd take once he was in his apartment and the big cozy bed that waited for him. He took off his scent blocker assuming everyone had left the building by now, and if not, it's not like he'd be distracting anyone anyways. He removed the small patches on his neck and threw them in the trash under his desk before making his way to the door. As he closed and locked it behind him, he began to wonder what he might pick up for dinner.
Maybe ramyeon? He thought. Mmm sushi.. Maybe-
“Mr. Jeong?”
Yunho physically jumped as he spun around to see who had snuck up on him. He was absolutely speechless. All he could do was stare at the man in front of him.
“I’m Mingi, it's nice to meet you!” Mingi smiled widely and offered his hand to Yunho. Mingi's voice was deep, deeper than Yunho's and had a slight rasp to it. Yunho studied him quickly before slowly accepting his hand. He was taller than Yunho, although not by much. They were pretty much eye level with one another.
“You should have clocked out 2 hours ago..” Yunho mumbled. It came out more hostile than he'd intended, he was more curious than angry.
His brows furrowed, his face twisting into what looked like panic. “Right, I’m sorry, I just wanted to thank you for giving me this opportunity!” Yunho noticed the way Mingi pulled away and began to rub his hands together in a soothing manner, his eyes locked on Yunhos. “I’m very thankful that you've given me this chance to be a part of your team.” Mingi sounded as if he'd rehearsed this a million times. In other cases, Yunho would be unimpressed. He'd fake a smile, welcoming the new hire as if they wouldn't become another insignificant face he'd see every single day at his boring job. But with Mingi, he couldn't take his eyes off him. He couldn't come up with a single word to say. Yunho didn't know how long he was staring, he prayed his scent wasn't giving everything away. He heard Mingi clear his throat in an awkward attempt to snap him out of whatever trance he was under. Yunho straightened his posture and broke eye contact. Instead of answering verbally, he nodded his head once and moved to walk towards the elevator.
He didn't dare look back as he waited for the elevator to open. He cursed himself for being an awkward dumbass and stepped in before he gave into the urge to bashed his head into the wall.
2 weeks passed since Mingi had begun his job as Yunhos subordinate. So far, he proved to be a reliable and hard worker. He stayed on task and hadn't missed a single day. Although it had only been two weeks, Yunho heard nothing but good things about him from his other employees. Everyone in the office seemed to find him friendly.
Yunho wouldn't know, he hadn't exactly spoken directly to him since the night he was hired. If they were alone, anything exchanged between them was strictly business. He wasn't scared or intimidated to talk to Mingi, he just needed their next interaction to be perfect. Yunho found Mingi fascinating. He thought he was the most beautiful man he'd ever seen. Over the years, Yunho never crushed or found genuine interest in basically anyone. He had a couple relationships with omegas through college that never lasted more than a couple months. His former partners would tell him he lacked a shit ton of empathy, and felt he never put in any effort into the relationship. Which was probably true, because Yunho never felt as though he truly loved anyone. After being exposed to the shit show that was his parents' marriage, Yunho began to believe love didn't really exist. Everyone who said otherwise was pretending and hoping one day they'd feel something that was never going to bloom in the first place. Yunho hadn't seen a single successful relationship in his entire life and was convinced he never would. Being dedicated to one person for your entire life felt silly and unrealistic to him. Cheating was bound to happen because most people in long term relationships would get bored and unhappy with their spouse no matter who they were, how much they were scented, marked, knotted. So what was the point in trying? In hopes of maybe proving himself wrong, he'd given his past relationships a chance, only to be broken up with not long after. Yunho decided after his last relationship that he'd stay career driven, never expecting or seeking “love” from anyone anymore.
Until his interest in Mingi only increased. He couldn't help the way his eyes naturally gravitated toward him. His platinum blonde hair practically glowed in the dull office space. The light locks were long, usually parted in the middle. His lengthy bangs spread on either side of his face, sometimes falling in front of his eyes. Yunho wondered when he last got them trimmed. Everyday he wore light makeup. Pretty blush spread under his eyes and over the bridge of his long pointy nose. It made him look so soft and sweet despite the sharp angles of his face. He had a light shade of eyeshadow around his sharp eyes. Yunho thought the subtle look made him look absolutely breathtaking. He took notice of the two moles on his face, one under his left eye and the other on his right cheek. His lips were plump, a pretty shade of deep pink. He had studied Mingi's features as closely as possible without actually interacting with him, and he felt these new feelings blooming into what people might call a crush.
What Yunho believed to be the most boring aspect of his life, now became the highlight of his day in the span of these two weeks. Everyday he prepared for work in the same manner he would any other day, only with a little more pep in his step. He looked forward to the little moments he would possibly experience with Mingi while on the clock. Hoping Mingi would need to drop off some paperwork or ask a question in regards to his job. Unfortunately, after their very first impressions, Yunho began to doubt they'd have any interaction beyond professional means. Mingi probably thought he was a huge weirdo that didn't know how to properly socialize. He probably wondered how he became so successful in this business in the first place. It pained him knowing there was a possibility Mingi looked down on him in any way. Yunho didn't often care about what anyone thought of him. His confidence had never been an issue, he knew his worth and never felt the need to prove it in the workplace. He felt different with Mingi, he wanted him to like him, he wanted to get to know him.
A month goes by since Yunho and Mingi's acquaintance. Yunho's admiration had only grown stronger. He’d been able to be near Mingi during meetings and even called him to his office for work enquiries. The small moments he had alone with him felt almost intoxicating. When Mingi would walk into his office, he'd rub his hands together anxiously like the night they'd met. Yunho found it cute, his shy tendencies hadn't matched his strong form at all. Mingi was big and solid, unlike most omegas he'd known. His body proportions made Yunho dizzy. His arms looked toned, his legs long and thighs full. Yunho noticed the way his pants seemed to strain ever so slightly when he'd sit down at his desk. He wondered what Mingi smelled like. Was his scent sweet like other omegas? Did he smell like flowers or desserts? He wondered if Mingi noticed how much he stared. If he felt his eyes locked on him, studying his features and small mannerisms.
He tried to hide it the best he could. He didn't want to freak Mingi out or think he was some creep. He tried offering Mingi friendly smiles in passing or when they'd interact, in hopes of clearing the tension that had formed from the month prior. Things seemed to even out, eventually Mingi's anxious fidgeting subsided when they'd speak to each other, and Yunho slowly saw his window beginning to open.
After what felt like endless hours sitting at his desk, Yunho leapt out of his chair to grab his lunch from the breakroom mini fridge. It was finally lunch time. Yunho never made his own lunch. He usually left the office for his breaks, eating at nearby restaurants that he frequented, he preferred it over the food they served at the lunchroom. He wasn't a very good cook at all. Considering this, sometimes he had his close friend Wooyoung prepare his meal. For today, upon request, he cooked him yukgaejang, and poured the soup into a microwave safe container for Yunho. He appreciated the effort and love Wooyoung put into his meals. He believed it was what made them so delicious. Wooyoung's special lunches were a rare privilege that Yunho looked forward to whenever he had it.
He entered the break room vigorously. The building held multiple break rooms, some being small and located near offices. The main lunch room took up half of the 5th floor, the other half was a lounging area. Yunho didn't go down there often. It was too crowded most of the time, and he preferred the quietness of his office. The break room on his floor specifically, was a lot nicer than most throughout the building. His floor was filled with offices for higher up’s like himself, the room was far more spacious and had newer, up to date appliances. The rest area was also larger, including a larger couch and TV. He quickly grabbed his soup from the fridge and placed it in the microwave. He tapped his foot excitedly watching the seconds count down on the microwave screen. This truly was the highlight of his day, as sad as that is.
Once heated, he grabbed the container and the rest of his lunch from the fridge, ready to head back to his office where he'd savor his special lunch. As he reached for the handle of the breakroom door, it flew open directly slamming into his shoulder. The impact of the clash resulted in his lunch falling from his grip, and spilling across the breakroom floor. The culprit of the incident immediately yelped and rushed to check on Yunho.
Mingi clasped his hand to his mouth in disbelief as he examined the scene he caused. “S-sir! I’m so sorry, ill clean this up right away are you ok? Did I hit you hard?” Mingi's words rushed out in panic. The look on his face was utterly distraught, Yunho thought he might burst into tears any moment now.
Yunho stood staring at his lunch, now plastered on the ground, inedible. If it had been anyone else, he might actually have fired them on the spot. But he liked Mingi. So instead, he took a very VERY deep breath, and formed a tight smile as he turned his head towards his new colleague.
“It's.. ok. I’m ok.” He ran his tongue against the inside of his cheek now thinking about how he'd clean this mess up. Mingi rushed to grab a nearby mop, mumbling more frantic apologies. They swiftly cleaned up the mess in silence. Mingi seemed to be drowning in regret and Yunho was still mourning the loss of his special lunch. Once they finished up, Yunho rinsed his hands at the sink, Mingi standing quietly by the door of the breakroom. Yunho turned to leave but Mingi stopped him before he could successfully escape.
“Mr. Jeong, wait please!” Mingi gently stepped in front of the door, blocking it from him. “Please, please let me make this up to you. I'm so terribly sorry for my clumsiness.” He bowed, 90 degrees, Yunho heard him sniffle in between sentences. If they didn't have blockers on, he's sure the room would reek of Mingi's distressed scent. He thought about how excited he was for his lunch, how he didn't get the privilege of having Wooyoung cook for him on a regular basis. But how could he stay truly mad at the adorable man in front of him? He felt his chest tighten when Mingi glanced back up at him with wet shiny eyes.
“Make it up how?” Yunho took a step back, signaling that he was willing to hear him out.
Mingi straightened, his face lightening up at Yunho's question. “I-Ill take you to lunch, ah… or” Mingi glanced at his watch, realizing their lunch break had been over for about 15 minutes now. “Dinner?”
Yunho kept a straight face as he studied his colleague. He didn't let it slip that his heart was practically hammering out of his chest and he felt his stomach flipping. Why was he so excited by this? He'd been on dates plenty of times but not a single one had ever gotten him this worked up. They were boring, he didn't necessarily look forward to them in his past relationships. They always went the same, his partners failing to keep him interested. Not that this was a date, Mingi was simply paying for his next meal to make up for his clumsy mistake. Mingi didn't know the meal he had ruined was irreplaceable unless made by Wooyoung's skilled hands himself. But he didn't need to know, Yunho accepted the request with a swift nod.
Mingi gave him a nervous smile and stepped away from the door. Yunho brushed past him swiftly, hoping the heat across face wasn't as noticeable as it felt, thank god for scent blockers.
Yunho glanced at the time on his work computer. It was just before 7pm, the last couple hours seemed to drag on for ages. He replayed the incident in the breakroom in his mind over and over. Once the disappointment over his lunch blew over all he could seem to focus on was how cute Mingi was in the moment. He started to process their plans for after work. He hadn't mentally prepared for a one on one dinner with Mingi, and started to feel a small wave of anxiety wash over him. What the hell would they talk about? What if Mingi wasn't actually interested in talking to him? This wasn't a date after all, just a kind jester over a small incident between coworkers.
Yunho continued to let his mind wonder as he stared at his computer screen, until he heard a quiet knock on his office door. He took another look at the time. 7:08. “Come in!’ He rushed, his voice having a mind of its own. He didn't mean to sound so excited..
Mingi slowly entered the office, timidly stepping closer to Yunho, biting at his bottom lip and fidgeting at his sleeve in the process.
Yunho took notice of Mingi's usual attire. Business casual, a white button up and some dark gray slacks, the two pieces are separated by a black belt and matched with black dress shoes. His clothes looked to be bought at a standard clothing store. None of what he wore was designer or even expensive. On the contrary, Yunho liked to wear clothes on the more luxurious side. He wasn't necessarily flashy but he preferred designer brands. He enjoyed the luxurious lifestyle and was happy to live it as long as he could afford it. The fact that Mingi wasn't as well off as Yunho didn't bother him. He understood the struggles of making a good income, worrying about how expensive your clothes are probably wasn't his top priority. He wondered what style he wore outside of work. Was he into street style? Preppy? Did he like fashion at all or did he wear sweats and hoodies all the time?
Yunho offered a smile, and he returned it. The interaction was small but it already had Yunho's heart thudding in his chest. Just seeing Mingi was enough to feel tingly and warm inside. He didn't understand it. No one in his life has ever worked him up like this, and he hasn't even gotten to know Mingi at all.
“Are you ready to go? If you have a specific place in mind you're welcome to choose-” Yunho stood from his desk and started to gather his things. Mingi raised his eyebrows slightly, seeming confused by the offer.
“We can go wherever you want!” Mingi blurted out. “I owe you.. So I think it's only fair that we get what will satisfy you.” He looked at Yunho, seemingly confident in his decision.
“Right” Yunho took a moment to think about what he was craving at the moment that wasn't Wooyoung's cooking. “I want bulgogi,” he announced. He slung his work bag over his shoulder and moved towards Mingi. “I know a place, you driving?”
“Actually..” he flushed, breaking eye contact to look down at his feet. “I don't drive, I take the subway”
Yunho smirked at this. Jeez, he's so cute. “That's ok, we’ll take mine” He started towards the door, opening it for the other man to walk through. Mingi's face seemed to light up at the gesture and followed Yunho towards the parking garage. They walked quietly, Mingi stayed behind him seemingly scared to walk directly next to him. Yunho understood, he was technically his superior. He was being careful to show respect for him but Yunho wished he'd loosen up a bit. Yunho had parked on the 3rd floor of the garage, they traveled up the stairs and finally arrived at the car.
His black Ferrari F8 Spider lit up the dim garage a couple feet away as he clicked his key. He heard Mingi gasp quietly and walk up next to him.
“This is yours?!” His mouth a gap rushing to examine the vehicle closer. A bright smile formed across his face as he opened the passenger door to look inside, seemingly allowing his excitement to get the best of him.
Yunho grinned widely, simply nodding in response. He opened the driver seat door and climbed in. The interior of the car was a deep crimson red, with smooth leather seats. Yunho had always been proud of his cars, the Ferrari F8 being his favorite. He had a small collection and planned on hopefully growing it in the future. Mingi settled in, a smile still plastered across his face as he felt around the car. Yunho appreciated his shared excitement.
He carefully pulled out of the parking spot and exited the garage. The drive was mostly silent, a little awkward. Yunho tried to ignore the feeling of Mingi's eyes looking in his direction as he drove. He couldn't tell from the corner of his eye if he was looking directly at him. He hoped he wasn't, he was sure his face was starting to turn pink. He tried to shift his focus on the road and the faint sound of the music playing from his radio. He almost jumped when Mingi finally broke the silence.
He shifted in his seat, relaxing his head on the head rest. “So.. where are we going?”
Yunho now realized he never specified where they were headed. “Just this place, Treasure. It's one of my favorite spots.”
“Ah I've heard of that one!” He clapped his hands together excitedly. “Their samgyeopsal is supposedly incredible!”
“Yeah? Where'd you hear that?”
“My roommate, San, has probably tried every barbeque place around Seoul by now. He's obsessed.” Mingi exhaled a laugh thinking of his friend.
Yunho smiled at this. His laugh was on the deeper side like his voice, but it was soft and sweet. He felt his heart jump just a little bit. The conversation died out, and the car was once again silent besides the radio. This time, the silence was more peaceful than awkward. Mingi returned his attention to the details of the vehicle, and soon settled on looking out the window. After about 20 minutes they arrived at the restaurant.
Both the men exited the car and walked to the front door. Mingi took a moment, taking in the building in front of him. He looked at Yunho with a nervous smile. “Looks.. Expensive..” He visibly gulped. A smug smile stretched across Yunho's face as he reached for the handle, holding it open for Mingi to walk through. Mingi bowed his head, hiding his flushed face from the other man. Yunho huffed a laugh as he walked in behind him.
“Hi! Welcome to Treasure, how many are with us today?” The server greeted the two.
“Two.” Yunho announced. They followed the server to the bar in the middle of the restaurant. They sat beside each other on bar stools looking atop of the counter, which had a built-in stove that stretched along the counter. The other guests around them didn't pay them any attention as they settled in.
Mingi looked around the building, his concern seeming to grow when he looked over the menu. Yunho pointed to the most expensive item on the menu, hanwoo beef served with kimchi fried rice. “I think I'll get this!” He smirked, struggling to keep his laugh in as he watched the color drain from the poor man's face when he read the price.
“W-whatever you want sir…” Mingi gulped. Yunho set the menu down and pointed to his original choice, something much cheaper.
“I’ll spare you today, I think I'll settle with the bulgogi.” He gave Mingi a teasing smile. Mingi relaxed at this and began to scan the menu so he could make his own choice. Once they were ready they put in their orders and received their drinks. Yunho had ordered a glass of somaek and Mingi settled on water. “How often do you come here, Mr. Jeong?” Mingi asked, trying to replace the silence that fell over them.
“Mingi, please, call me Yunho..” He smiled lightly. He wanted Mingi to feel comfortable at this moment. They had finally been able to interact outside of work and he still kept his formalities. As much as he appreciated the respect, Yunho found it unnecessary especially since they were so close in age. Mingi slightly tensed his shoulders as he nodded at his request. “I come here often, it's one of my go-tos.”
“I’m glad I could treat you today, again I'm sorry about your lunch earlier..” Mingi still looked incredibly guilty over the incident, Yunho felt bad it had left him so upset.
“Really, it's ok, It could always be made again.”
“Did you make it?”
“No, a friend, he's an amazing cook. The best I've ever known.” Yunho paused to mourn his lost lunch once again. “He doesn't cook for me often though, he has a busy schedule, but when he does he puts so much effort into it, he's never cooked a bad dish.” Yunho smiled fondly thinking of his friend.
“That's awesome, my roommates can't cook for shit!” Mingi laughed "I've only ever seen Sannie cook eggs before, and Seonghwa's attempts led me to hiding our cooking tools..” They both laughed, Mingi leaning towards Yunho as they settled down. “How about you? Can you cook”
Yunho shook his head. “I’m probably just as bad as your roommates, take-out has been my best friend since college.” Mingi nodded in agreement. Mingi continued to share some stories about his time with his roommates. Apparently the three of them had been friends since high school, and decided to live with one another once they attended college and found steady jobs. Yunho wondered if his roommates were both omegas, or if he was involved with one of them. He decided the question might be too personal to ask so soon. If traditions had stayed relevant he would assume they were alphas with the knowledge of their horrendous cooking skills. But the stereotypical roles of alphas and omegas had died out over the years. Plenty of alphas had learned and perfected the art of cooking while many omegas never bothered to learn the skill. Yunho was having such a good time. The other man was so easy to talk to, bubbly and seemingly had a lot of stories to tell. He was happy to see him come out of his shell so quickly. Soon enough their food was being cooked right before their eyes and ready to eat. Neither of them had been able to eat lunch so they scarfed down their food quickly.
“You weren't kidding” Mingi chewed the last bite of his meal with a satisfied smile. “That was the best samgyeopsa I've ever had” The server came back around once Yunho had also taken his final bites.
“Is the check together or separate?”
“Separate.” Yunho announced before Mingi could answer. He shot him a confused look.
“Mr.- Yunho are you sure?” He stuttered. “I promise the price is no problem, really i can pay-”
“I had fun tonight.” Yunho cut him off. He looked Mingi in the eyes with a kind smile, placing his hand over his. Both men had kept their scent blockers on through the night, but if they hadn't, Mingi would be able to smell how nervous Yunho was right now. He hadn't flirted with a single person for years now. He was scared he'd come off as rude or weird. His worries soon vanished when he saw Mingi's face flush. He watched him fight back a shy smile as he looked down at his leg, their hands remained intact only for a few seconds, once the server returned with the checks. They finished up and made their way out of the building, now satisfied after eating a filling meal.
They made their way to Yunho's car, on the short walk Yunho looked over his “date” once more. He took in Mingi's appearance several times over the time they spent together, but he couldn't get enough, Mingi was just so attractive. Handsome, but the softness in his face and hair added cute elements to him that Yunho liked a lot. He felt his pulse start to speed up again, he continued to look over his body and felt a slight heat in his stomach. He stopped in front of his car and watched Mingi move towards the passenger door. Yunho realized he was waiting for him to unlock the car and fumbled his keys, trying to retrieve them from his pocket. He smiled sheepishly, both now settling back into the car.
He handed Mingi his phone to put in his address so he could take him home. The drive was about 35 minutes. The two of them didn't talk for most of the ride, both tired from a long day at work and full from their meals. Unlike before, the silence wasn't awkward, it was peaceful. They drove with the radio low, Yunho beginning to process the night he unexpectedly had spent with his new, beautiful coworker. He hadn't expected to get along as well as they did, let alone enjoy himself. They soon arrived at Mingi's apartment building. The building was well within the city. It was tall, standing next to similar looking apartment complexes and office buildings. His apartment stood atop a small family owned bookstore/cafe. The place didn't look run down, the street in general seemed to be taken care of and safe. Yunho hadn't expected Mingi to live in a nicer part of the city. Although he supposed if his roommates also had stable jobs, splitting a nice apartment wasn't hard to do.
He parked the car on the side of the road in front of the entrance to the bookstore. “Ill see you tomorrow?” Mingi asked, holding the passenger door open. Yunho smiled and nodded, watching the other man's own smile grow bigger as he shut the door. Yunho watched him enter the building until he was out of his line of vision.
Yunho arrived at his own apartment. He was on the other side of the city from Mingi, about a 45 minutes drive. His apartment was taller, 50 stories and surrounded by other luxury apartment buildings. He was also close to the city's most popular shopping plaza. He parked his car in the parking garage a short walk from his building. He entered, walking straight through the lobby, stopping at the elevator. He pressed the button, now glowing green signaling a cab to the lobby floor. The lobby was large, spacious enough to have a seating area bigger than a basic living room. Accompanied by the check-in counter. His building held a gym on the 2nd floor of the building, a luxury spa with a sauna on the 3rd floor, and a pool area on the roof top. The lobby floors were patterned a light tan color, the walls also beige with frames that were a light brown. The elevator dinged, the perfectly polished metal doors sliding open to let Yunho inside. He stepped in and clicked the floor of his suite, 48. The elevator was on the smaller side, the walls shiny dark metal, the back wall was a mirror reaching from the floor to the top of the space. The doors opened once again when he reached his floor. He walked down a hallway with wood pillars and matching wood floors. The ceiling held a beautiful crystal chandelier illuminating a yellowish light across the hallway. Yunho walked a short way to the entrance of his suite, entering a pin before stepping inside.
He was greeted with a faint scent, familiar but unexpected. It smelt like the inside of a cave, refreshing earthiness with accents of wet minerals. Yunho made his way through his apartment, sniffing out where the scent was coming from. He stopped once he stepped into his bedroom, standing in the doorway as he glared at the culprit of the smell.
Wooyoung lay sprawled out across Yunho's king sized bed, half dress. He lightly snored, clearly not woken by the sound of Yunho coming home. This wasn't an unusual sight for Yunho.
Wooyoung often dropped in unexpectedly when he wasn't working his busy schedule or staying at his college dorm. He was only a year younger than Yunho, still in college earning his bachelor's in nursing. He worked an internship at a hospital near Yunhos place, and preferred Yunho's luxurious suite far more than his crappy dorm that he shared with insufferable alpha frat boys. Sometimes it was just easier to stick around the area if he had back to back shifts. Taking the train back and forth from his dorm was a hassle. He understood his preference and didn't mind when he wanted to stay over. He left his friend in peace while he settled in. He set his belongings down and made his way to the bathroom. He finally removed his scent blockers, setting his pheromones free. He showered and went through his nightly routine, then threw on a t-shirt and boxer shorts. He went into his living room. He sighed at the sight of a bag of potato chips laying on the floor along with an empty soda can.
The least Wooyoung could do is clean up after himself. He thought. Once Yunho felt everything was in order, he made his way back to his bedroom and fell into bed on top of the younger alpha.
“MMmm” Wooyoung grunted. Yunho relaxed his weight over top of his stomach causing him to wake from his sleep. “Ugh- get off of meee” he whined in protest, making very little effort to shove Yunho off with his arms. Yunho huffed out a laugh, finally releasing him from beneath him.
“Whyre you home so late? I tried waiting but you took too damn long” Wooyoung grabbed a pillow and placed it over his face in an attempt to block out the lights from above him. Yunho moved to lay beside him and stared at his high ceiling.
“Went out”
Wooyoung slammed the pillow to his face, earning him a yelp then returned it back to his own. “Be specific”
“The newbie at work spilled my lunch so he took me to dinner to make up for it.”
His friend stayed silent for a moment before he placed the pillow beside him to glare at him. “So I cooked, just for it to end up on the floor so you could go out with your little crush?”
Yunho rolled his eyes. “Youre being dramatic, it wasn't on purpose. It was completely unplanned. He felt really bad.” Yunho thought over the night once more, smiling fondly at Mingi's shy mannerisms. “I ended up not letting him pay for my meal, I felt kind of bad.”
“So my food really did go to waste.”
“Goodnight Wooyoung” Yunho sighed, getting up to turn the lights off around the house. Wooyoung settled into the bed properly, taking up the left side. He never stayed on one side for long, usually ending up tangled around Yunho or sprawled out in any direction. Yunho joined him once again on his own side, settling under the covers and resting his head atop the pillows.
They laid quietly in the dark before Wooyoung spoke again, his voice softer now that he was falling back to sleep. “You smell nice. Did you have fun?”
“I did.” Yunho whispered. He saw his friend nod softly, hearing his soft snores moments after. He had already fallen asleep again.
Yunho woke up to the smell of food being freshly cooked. He held his eyes shut and took a deep breath, taking in the delicious smell. His stomach growled at the scent of bacon and what he thought was freshly baked banana bread. Yunho slowly opened his eyes, adjusting them to the bright sun shining through the curtains of his room. Today was his day off. It had been 2 days since he had dinner with Mingi. The work days following that night were far from eventful. Mingi and Yunho had only shared friendly smiles and continued to form small talk in passing. Their conversations flowed easier than they had before at the very least. It was a big improvement in Yunho's eyes, but he also wished things were moving faster. Flirting in a work environment was way harder than he'd thought. He didn't want to risk anyone of his colleagues suspecting anything, maybe he could get Mingi alone again soon.
He sat up in bed, and reached up to massage his eyes.
“Yuyuuuuuuuu!” he heard Wooyoung sing his name from the kitchen. He lazily made his way over to him. He watched his friend plate his food before he made his presence known.
“Smells good” He grumbled, causing Wooyoung to jump. He grabbed the towel beside him and whipped his bare leg with it angrily.
“Go sit down! I’ll serve you.” He said with no room to argue, shoving Yunho in the direction of the living room. Yunho's apartment didn't have a dining table. Not that it didn't fit one, Yunho just saw no point in having one. His only company was Wooyoung, and on a rare occasion his parents. When they'd eat meals they ate on the living room coffee table or the kitchen counters. Yunho made himself comfortable on the floor in front of the coffee table, grabbing the controller to put something on in the background as they ate. Wooyoung soon joined him on the floor, placing a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and a fresh slice of banana bread in front of him. Wooyoung's baking was just as good as his cooking. Yunho dug in right away.
They watched the TV as they finished their breakfast. “Do you have plans today?” Wooyoung asked, setting his plate atop of Yunho's own empty plate.
“Nope.” Yunho never did anything on his days off. He usually spent his day laying around the apartment, sometimes spending a day out with Wooyoung if he was also free.
“No more dates with the pretty boy??” Wooyoung elbowed his side.
“It wasn't a date, and we haven't really talked since then.” Yunho didn't let it show how much this bothered him. He'd known Mingi for less than 2 months and he felt like he MISSED him. He didn't understand where these strong feelings could have come from. He felt silly and didn't want Wooyoung to tease him any further. He also just assumed it would pass, surely these feelings wouldn't last forever right?
“That’s too bad.” Wooyoung picked up his phone from the floor beside him. “What did you say his name was?”
“Song Mingi-“ Yunho answered without thinking. He should have known better. He cursed himself when he saw Wooyoung begin to type something into his phone. “What the hell are you doing?” Yunho reached to snatch his phone from him but Wooyoung was too quick, flinging himself away from the stronger man’s reach.
“He’s not too bad looking.. not bad at all!” Wooyoung smirked as he studied whatever was on his phone.
“Woo stop, what are you looking at-“ he pushed himself up and stood next to him finally looking at what was on his screen. Wooyoung had found Mingi's instagram account. It wasn’t hard, he simply typed in his name and was able to find it within a couple scrolls. Yunho's eyes widened in surprise, he wanted to look through it desperately. Wooyoung clicked on one of his recent posts and began swiping through the series of images. They included selfies of Mingi in what he’d assume was his apartment, some taken in a bathroom. A couple of photos featured two other men.
One of them had a muscular build, broad shoulders with a small waist. His facial features were striking, they reminded Yunho of a cat, he had sharp angles and striking eyes. His hair was short, bangs barely covering up to his eyebrows. The other man was lean, and his skin a beautiful honey tan color. His hair was long, covering his neck and bangs that framed his face nicely. His features were also sharp, but he seemed more feminine than the other man. Off the bat Mingi assumed this man was an omega, he was drop dead gorgeous. Too much elegance to be an alpha, of course he could be wrong but he highly doubted it. He couldn’t tell what the cat-like man was. His build was alpha-like but the way he presented in the photos he could see gave off omega.
They continued to scroll until Yunho backed away. “Woo stop, this feels wrong.”
“Oh come on you’re no fun! His Instagram is public, I promise it’s no biggy.” Wooyoung waved him off as he continued to scroll through Mingi's page. Yunho began to get frustrated and chose to ignore what Wooyoung was doing. He picked up the dirty plates and took them to the kitchen to be put in the dish washer.
“He looks REALLY tall..!” He heard Wooyoung yell across the apartment. “Is he taller than you?”
Yunho rolls his eyes. “No, he’s about an inch shorter.” He called out.
“I didn’t know you were into tall guys!” Wooyoung giggled. Yunho was back in the living room about ready to charge directly at his annoying friend. He ran in his direction only for Wooyoung to dodge the attack.
“I’m not into anyone” he growled, his scent turning sour the more he was teased. He moved toward Wooyoung once again. He grabbed a hold of his arm now wrestling him onto the couch. Wooyoung laughed loudly as he kept the phone out of Yunho's reach. Yunho pinned him onto the couch letting his full body weight keep him trapped.
Wooyoung gasped and tried moving him off, his arm with the phone up in the air still unattainable to Yunho. “I… CANT BREATHE” he half laughed, half wheezed, his lungs crushed my Yunhos weight.
“Give me the phone and you’ll be free” Yunho grumbled, not budging whatsoever. The regret of ever telling his one and only best friend about the man he might have a crush on washing over him. Wooyoung finally surrendered, dropping the phone on the couch above his head. Yunho reached for it immediately, finally exiting out of the app and locking his phone. “You’ve lost phone privileges” he mumbled rising from the couch.
Wooyoung lay defeated, dramatically reaching for his phone. “Aauugghhhh please I was just curiousss!!”
“You’re a brat y'know that?” He left the room to finally start getting ready for the day. He dressed in a simple black t-shirt, baggy dark blue jeans and accessorized with a gold necklace and gold chain bracelets. He wore simple gold rings on his middle and index fingers. He didn’t bother to style his hair today, leaving it to sort itself out. He slid on plain white socks and tied a pair of black sneakers.
Wooyoung entered the room, arms crossed still waiting for his phone to be returned to him. It was safely snug in Yunho's back pocket. “Where are we going?”
“WE are dropping you off to your dorm and I am going to run some long overdue errands.” He decided. Wooyoung groaned in protest. “Don’t give me that, I’ve let you stay here for three days. I know you have things to do back home” Wooyoung knew he was right, and so he stayed quiet as he also began to fix himself up in the bathroom.
They made their way to the parking garage and climbed into the car. Yunho handed Wooyoung his phone back and began the drive to the dorms. Once they arrived Wooyoung paused before opening the passenger door. “Thank you for letting me crash, y'know it means a lot to me” he smiled sincerely at his friend.
“Anytime Woo” They leaned into one another in a small embrace, Wooyoung's calming pheromones filling the car. Wooyoung exited the car, shutting the door behind him as he walked towards the dorm’s entrance. Yunho took off soon after. His apartment was in need of some basic supplies and groceries he’d been putting off buying. He headed to a nearby grocery store to pick up prepackaged dinners and snacks to get him through the next couple of weeks. He also took the chance to restock on cleaning supplies. Despite being well off, Yunho often forgot to take care of his own basic needs. He got too caught up in his work life to take care of himself properly. His days off are usually his catch up days for himself, although sometimes he ends up bed rotting instead.
After completing his mandatory shopping trip, he decided to treat himself by buying new clothes. He bought himself a new designer suit for work. It was a dark brown single breasted suit with matching brown slacks. The button up underneath the blazer was white with thin black vertical stripes. The tie was a dark gray, matching the belt and dress shoes.
He finished his day out satisfied with his purchases. He planned on eating a pre-packed sub he’d bought at the store today once he arrived home.
Once parked, he carried his belongings up to his suite, taking two trips to his car to grab everything he had bought. He began putting away his groceries when he noticed a couple of neatly packed tupperwares stacked in the fridge. He gasped, swiftly opening one of them up. It was Wooyoung's yukgaejang. The other tupperwares included fried rice and freshly made kimchi. Wooyoung must have made and packed it for him the night before. Yunho smiled with gratitude for his friend. He knew this was Wooyoung's way of saying thanks for letting him come over unannounced all the time. Yunho was happy to be appreciated. He put the food back where he found it and put away the rest of his groceries, then decided to heat up a serving of yukgaejang.
He sat down on the floor and placed his food on the coffee table, instead of watching the tv he decided he’d take this time to scroll his phone. He hadn't really been on it since that morning. He scrolled his notifications, skimming to see if anyone important had messaged him. He sighed, his phone as dry as it usually was. He clicked the Instagram icon, taking a nice long sip of the delicious warm soup in front of him. His messages loaded and he clicked on the first message to pop up. It was one of his coworkers asking about the work schedule for the next couple of weeks. He rolled his eyes wondering why this person thought it would be smart to DM him on Instagram, instead of texting him normally. The message under that was from Wooyoung. Yunho clicked it, unsuspecting of anything.
He stared at his screen, cursing his friend under his breath when he took a closer look at the link he’d sent to him. Wooyoung had sent him Mingi's profile. Yunho was incredibly conflicted. He wasn’t sure how normal it was to stalk someone’s Instagram page. He rarely posted on the app himself. People would have terrible luck if they were to look over his account. Yunho felt like it was wrong to invade Mingi's privacy, they hadn’t known each other long at all. Yunho was also worried he’d see something he didn’t like. Or see something he liked too much.
Yunho clicked the off button of his phone and set it on the coffee table as he continued to savor his meal. Only he couldn’t stop thinking about what he could see through that link.
He turned on the tv. He put on a channel that played cartoons and tried to focus on that while he ate. He thought about the post he got a glimpse of when Wooyoung was looking through his profile. He wondered if the muscular man in the photos with him was an alpha or not. He felt a tightness in his chest. Was he one of his roommates? His curiosity got the better of him. Yunho unlocked his phone and clicked the link Wooyoung had sent him.
Mingi's profile was what you’d expect a man in his 20s to be. His username was “Mingyaa0_N” His profile picture was a picture of himself, at what Yunho assumed was a cafe or restaurant. His hair was slightly shorter and a dark brown in the picture. He looked relatively the same other than that. His bio didn’t contain anything but his name. Yunho didn’t blame him, he had a bland bio too. He scrolled down to start looking at his posts. They consisted of similar pictures of him at cafes, restaurants, and places Yunho recognized through the city. Almost every post featured pictures of the other two men he’d seen previously. They were definitely the roommates he’d mentioned before. Mingi seemed to have a fun life outside of work, unlike Yunho.
He couldn’t help but feel like a total loser. His only real friend was Wooyoung. He wasn’t good at forming friendships or getting to know people. If he had met anyone new, they would fade away from his life within a couple of months. He didn’t care to keep them around if they didn’t add anything to his life. Most people didn’t. Wooyoung had been about the only one to stick around. Yunho just assumed it was because they’d been stuck together in most of their college classes. They defaulted to each other when group projects were assigned. They asked each other for help on homework and copied each other's notes. All the time spent together ended up in a lot of deep conversations in the middle of the night in one of their dorm rooms. They formed a strong bond in the end, one Yunho was never accustomed to. They stayed close even after Wooyoung switched majors and no longer had the same classes. Things were easy with Wooyoung, he took care of Yunho when he needed it and didn’t give up on him when he tried to push away.
Wooyoung knew how to handle him, he knew what his insecurities were and how to deflect them. Yunho didn’t think anyone could compare to his best friend. He had kept him stable and offered him unconditional friendship.
His one and only friendship was more than enough for Yunho, but he feared Mingi might find it strange. Maybe he’d assume Yunho was hard to get along with and he was a terrible person that couldn’t keep a single person in his life. He desperately hoped Mingi would overlook this detail of his life.
Yunho continued to scroll, studying the two men featured in a good chunk of the pictures. He couldn’t help but carefully dissect and study the one with the sharp, feline-like eyes. He was undeniably handsome. His form was basically perfect, his whole body was solid and toned to perfection. His skin was a light tan, practically glowing in some of the pictures. Yunho prayed he wasn’t an alpha. He’d definitely have no chance with Mingi if this was his competition. The thought lingered as he kept scrolling, a tinge of jealousy souring his mood. All thoughts came to a stop once he scrolled upon one particular photo.
It was a picture of Mingi at what he assumed was a club. Yunho wouldn’t know which one because he never went to clubs. This one looked full, Mingi was surrounded by people, the atmosphere dark except for the multicolored lights flashing. Yunho could barely make out the other people in the photo. Whoever had taken it used the flash feature, only lighting up Mingi's face and upper body. Yunho zeroed in on Mingi's face. His face looked almost neutral in the first photo, his head facing to the left, showing his side profile. He swiped and discovered 2 other photos in the same fashion. The second picture featured his bright smile, his eyes tight slits. He looked like he’d been caught mid laugh. He was still facing away from the camera. The final photo featured two other familiar faces. Yunho didn't linger on it for too long, swiping back to the pictures with only Mingi.
He had much more elaborate makeup than Yunho had seen on him yet. He wore a darker toned blush underneath his eyes and over the bridge of his nose. On his eyes he wore eyeliner along his waterline accompanied by messy dark gray eyeshadow smeared on his eyelids. A darker pigment on the outer corners fading into the inner corners. The makeup sharpened his features further. His lips were beautifully plump as always and that deep, pretty shade of pink, Yunho couldn’t help but linger on this detail longer than he’d thought was appropriate.
He pulled his eyes away from his face and studied Mingi's outfit. He wore an open leather vest, he had no shirt underneath it. The vest was only buttoned around his waist, exposing most of his toned, full chest. His arms were completely bare, muscles in full view. He had thick chains dangling from his neck, gleaming in the lights of the club. Mingi's hair was the same length and dark brown as his profile picture. Yunho glanced at the date, revealing it had been taken 7 months ago. Mingi looked incredible, his body was as mesmerizing as Yunho had imagined. He’d assumed Mingi was toned in more areas than his arms but wasn’t completely sure due to the lack of skin shown through their work attire. He was pleasantly surprised by his discovery. His eyes couldn’t seem to remove themselves from his chest.
He swallowed, following the curve of his pecs. The way they perfectly peaked out from underneath his vest, not completely exposed but just enough for everyone in the club to get a taste. Yunho swiped between the two images, carefully studying every detail. He didn't think he’d ever get sick of it, Mingi looked so fucking hot. The makeup paired with his sexy vest that revealed his delicious pecs. Yunho was practically drooling. He shifted on the floor, feeling warmth begin to pool in his stomach as he continued to study the image.
After about 10 minutes he decided to finally pull away from the post, continuing to scroll. He swore to himself he'd only look for a little longer. He scrolled past a couple more casual posts of cafes and roommate life until he came across another post like the previous one. He was at another club. He wore a button up this time, tight enough to reveal his frame, once again he had the top of the shirt completely unbuttoned, revealing even more of his toned chest and a peak of the abs underneath. Yunho swallowed hard. The heat in my stomach plummeted south. He studied his chest closer, the shirt now revealing his small rounded nipples. Yunho couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to run his tongue against the delicious light brown nubs. He wondered if Mingi was sensitive in that area, would he be whimpering and squirming underneath him just from the sensation in his chest.
Yunho shifted once again taking notice of his half hard cock straining against his boxers. Yunho was conflicted. He wasn’t usually so easily turned on. Mingi seemed to be the first for a lot of his feelings. He stared at his screen contemplating whether it was worth feeling like a complete creep if he kept staring at his photos. If he wasn’t already hot and bothered maybe he would’ve thought more rationally. Maybe he would have put his phone down and done something productive with his time. But his clouded and horny judgement led him to palm at the bulge in his boxers instead.
He groaned, eyes locked on the images of Mingi. His eyes flicked between his face, his chest, his arms, the sliver of abs that were visible. He felt a tinge of guilt in his chest for indulging in his lustful desires for his coworker. His subordinate at that. He knew Mingi would be uncomfortable with the knowledge that his boss was incredibly turned on by his instagram posts. The guilt wasn't enough to stop him though. He continued to palm himself to full hardness. He let out a loud sigh and let his head rest on the couch against his back. He closed his eyes and dropped the hand holding his phone to his side. His mind started to wander deeper into his fantasy of pleasuring Mingi though his chest. He pictured himself kissing and sucking on his neck, moving slowly down to his abs leaving marks as he traveled along his body.
He tugged his boxers down just enough to finally release his cock. He groaned, quickly rubbing in the precum that had leaked around his tip. He slid his hand up and down at a fast pace. He wasn't taking his time, he was far too worked up. If he had gone any slower he thought he might go crazy. His thoughts of exploring Mingi's body began to blur, he couldn't focus on one thought. Flashing images of Yunho's desires played in his mind. He was already so close. He jerked his hips up into his hand, his head dropping back down. His groans grew louder as he picked up his phone to take one last glance at the man on the screen. He picked up speed, looking over every detail of Mingi. A dragged out moan escaped his lips as he managed his final strokes, spilling his cum into his own hand. He pumped himself a few more times, fully riding out his orgasm. He sighed, letting both his hands fall to his sides, his head falling against the couch with them. He stared at his ceiling, the post nut clarity ripping through him almost instantly.
He looked at his cum coated hand in disgust, tucking his length back into his boxers as he got up to wash his hands. He had barely touched his dinner before getting caught up on his phone. He sighed in disappointment. He wasn't even hungry anymore. Yunho sealed the tupperware with its lid and placed it back into the fridge to be eaten another time. He turned his TV off and made his way to his shower.
After washing up he got himself ready for bed, brushing his teeth and putting on his favorite silk pajamas. It was a set, a thin black button up with matching pants. It came with a matching silk robe that he chose not to wear tonight. His apartment was on the warmer side, layering wasn't necessary. He got cozy in bed and took out his phone. He immediately noticed four missed calls from Wooyoung. Yunho hadn't touched his phone since he'd shamefully jacked off to Mingi's posts. He rolled his eyes and clicked to call his friend back. A picture of the two of them popped up on his screen as the call went through. It was a picture from when they'd been in school together, both of them holding up peace signs. Wooyoung's wide smile plastered across his face and one arm wrapped around Yunho's shoulders, who had a small smile on his face. He dropped his phone on his chest and stared at his ceiling, waiting for his friend to pick up.
The ringing stopped for a moment, then he heard the face time feature activate. “Helloooo” Wooyoung sang through the phone.
Yunho faced the phone towards him, taking a look at Wooyoung through the screen. His hair was sticking up in all directions and he was in what looked like an old shirt. “The hell took you so long.” Yunho said, sizing him up.
“What took ME so long? I called you four times!” Wooyoung growled, glaring at Yunho. He smiled, successfully getting a reaction out of his dear friend.
“Did you want to tell me something or…”
“Yeah I want to tell you about my day” Wooyoung grinned and immediately started babbling about his classes, his classmates, his annoying roommates and so on. Wooyoung's story telling was always unorganized, he jumped from one topic to the other with no transitions in between or coherent plot points. Yunho often liked hearing him talk, it brought him a lot of entertainment but tonight he was about fed up with him. “By the way- did you see what I sent you on Insta?” He finally paused to let Yunho respond.
His mind flashed with the thought of what he had done a couple hours before. He cleared his throat and his eyes looked anywhere but his phone. “Yeah.. I saw” He muttered
Wooyoung plastered a smug grin across his face. “What do you look so guilty for Yuyuuu!” Fuck he was so annoying. He hated how well he could read him.
“Nothing, I'm not guilty. I only looked through it for a second.” He lied gritting his teeth. Wooyoung huffed out a laugh, not believing him for a second.
“Yeah right! Hes a total babe how could you not scroll for a little while… his friends are hot too, especially the one with the short hair..” He watched him bite his lip thinking about him. “Do you think he's an omega?”
Yunho paused to think it through once more. “Honestly I don't know..” He said without thinking.
“So you DID look through it!” Wooyoung laughed mockingly. Earning himself a deep growl from Yunho.
“Goodnight Woo.” Yunho huffed and hung up the phone before Wooyoung could protest. He sighed, placing his phone on his bedside table. He shifted in his sheets finding a comfortable position, closing his eyes and letting himself doze off.
As his breath steadied he couldn't help but think of all the pictures of Mingi he'd seen. He flicked through them in his brain like a photo album. Mingi was so beautiful. He felt his stomach flutter at the drowsy thought of seeing him at work again. His thoughts of the omega began to blur into nothing as he finally fell asleep.
