not rivals, nor lovers (yet)

Summary:

Seongbin never really had a rivalry with the survival show’s first place trainee, Park Joowoo, like everyone else made them to be. But if the whole world tells them they are, then who is Seongbin to go against the narrative?

It’s only when Park Joowoo himself came close to him that he realized what he had been deprived of by the said rivalry set up.

Notes:

it’s done… the meboz fake rivals that bugged me a long time is finally done…! i owe this to you, taerae. boys planet man in love cover was hitting platinum in my room when i wrote this sorry (not really) for the boys planet reference it’s all i know lol.

Work Text:

Even before the first evaluation was held, Seongbin's role had already been chosen.

In this idol survival show where narrative played a major role on whether a trainee could debut or not, he was given the role of Jeong Seongbin, a desperate five year trainee from a mid-level agency.

Unfortunately, this role overlapped with many. There were older trainees who had trained longer than him, and there were even idols who joined, seeking a chance to redebut. Seongbin was not the only one desperate to debut.

However, it seems the producers had a favorable view of him. Upon watching the show when it aired, Seongbin noticed he had a decent amount of screentime for a trainee of a smaller agency.

And he also noticed the narrative they were building.

“Is it just me or are they putting you and the gray hair as rivals?” Seongjun commented when they all watched the broadcast at home.

Seongbin glanced at the television, right exactly on the trainee his brother had pointed out.

“Park Joowoo?”

“Yeah, I think that's his name. Are you guys rivals?” Seongjun asked him again.

Truth be told, Seongbin felt that they were more strangers than rivals of each other.

They've never even talked in person and they already finished the first team match. Seongbin's interactions with Park Joowoo only consisted of nodding in courtesy whenever they passed each other or matched eyes.

On the note of the first team match, it was the moment they all blatantly turned them into rivals.

During the signal song evaluation, the mentors kept mentioning his name alongside Park Joowoo's, labeling them together as the main vocalists of the show.

For the first team match, they were randomly assigned members and songs to cover. What they had to duke out among the trainees were the positions to take.

Fortunately, Seongbin was able to grab the main vocalist position without a fight as he had already proven himself in the signal song evaluation. Quoting his teammate, Heerang, he was a vocalist comparable to the current rank 1 trainee—which, of course, was trainee Park Joowoo.

And unfortunately, Seongbin also had to take the leader role when no one volunteered to do so. He accepted it as being seen by the trainees in a favorable view and having a friendly relationship with them.

What Seongbin didn't expect was that their team had to directly fight Park Joowoo's team.

“You mean Park Joowoo's team chose the same group as us?”

The first team match ended up with a direct comparison between their teams, where Seongbin's side lost the battle.

What could he do when Park Joowoo was practically flying through the stage while flawlessly boasting his high notes?

That day, he could only nod toward Park Joowoo who glanced at him after the announcement, all while comforting his crying teammates.

Maybe he and Park Joowoo were indeed rivals.

Well, that's what everyone said.

The producers said so, always putting them together at every opportunity they find. Whenever Park Joowoo was on stage or in the center of attention, there would always be a camera looking toward Seongbin's direction—and he knew that when the episode aired, they would clip those videos together.

Their mentors, no better than the production crew, would call the two of them together during vocal practice and evaluations to show a sample from the piece they're practicing. Somehow, it would always end either with the two of them having another “vocal duel”.

The worst of them all were the trainees. Sometimes in the cafeteria when Seongbin would be surrounded by other trainees and Park Joowoo would come in there to have lunch as well, his friends would poke him and say, “there goes your rival”.

The situation didn't seem too different online either.

Seongbin had garnered a decent amount of fans from his performances since the audition. They were calling him the ideal idol group main vocalist.

On the internet, his fans and Park Joowoo's intense fanbase were always feuding on who was a better main vocalist.

[ BOYS PLANET 5, WHO IS YOUR MAIN VOCALIST? ]

1. [+143, -198]  seongbin. if he debuts, they automatically get a main vocalist and a leader

2. [+190, -17] it would be a crime not to make joowoo the main vocalist… you don't find anything close to his vocal tone in this generation

3. [+150, -19] like if you're a seongbin stan and comment if you're a joowoo stan

4. [+15, -129] i like joowoo more. i think seongbin's tone is a little boring and it lacks color. is it because he was raised in a ballad-focused agency?

5. [+10, -315] i don't get why park joowoo would join a survival show. is he even aware that if he wins here, he'll debut with a group and not as a soloist?

6. [+19, -201] stop comparing joowoo with jsb for fucks sake they're not even on the same level. you keep linking jsb to joowoo so he could ride on joowoo's coattails

7. [+28, -187] seongbin would not even give a glance at your fave with personality issues LOL

It was as if the whole world had decided they were supposed to be rivals, or worse, enemies who seemed to have deep hatred toward the other.

Even if Seongbin wanted to get to know Park Joowoo, how was he supposed to come close to him when everyone would pull them away from each other?

Time was always running out for people like Seongbin who never ran out of things to do. Suddenly it's Monday again, and he had to return to the broadcasting center, and he needed to compete with other trainees again.

The second team match came in the form of a position battle. He could feel the stares of the trainees prickling his skin when the host mentioned the songs for the vocal teams. Seongbin couldn't help but glance at Park Joowoo a few columns away from him in the line of trainees. What song would he choose?

Seongbin listened carefully to the songs for the dance and rap teams but he already knew what song to choose. It was a no-brainer choice considering he knew all the songs presented.

Of the three songs for the vocal teams, Seongbin wanted to do a song from a known 2nd generation male idol group. A famous title track about a man in love that was rearranged to give off the vibes of a drama soundtrack and a band song.

The other two didn't really have an appeal to him. One was a song of a girl group with heavy hints of rock and pop punk, while the other was an upbeat, fast track of a boy group. Seongbin didn't have the confidence to admit that he would be able to bring out his best with those two.

“Now, for this match, the trainees can choose the song they want to do,” Yur announced to them.

Before they could even celebrate this rare freedom of choice, he intercepted. “However, we will be starting from the lowest ranked trainee… and the higher ranking trainees can push them out of the group if there aren't any spots left.”

Seongbin was once again reminded that he entered a competition.

It took a while before he was called on to pick his team. Out of the remaining 50 trainees, Seongbin's rank played within the top five. Must be the results of his performance as a vocalist—or the results of being paired with Park Joowoo. (It still stung him a little that his success was being credited for that and not his skills. Was he not good enough?)

“Trainee Jeong Seongbin, you can go to the team you want.”

Fortunately, there was still a spot left to the team he wanted. Man in Love, the song he wanted to do. The team composition was not bad as well. Moon Yeongyu and Cha Sehan were there, the Greenline trainees who were good singers too, alongside another MYTH trainee whom he didn't know well but saw his performances.

When he walked toward the team, the three other members welcomed him excitedly.

“We secured the main vocalist!”

He took one more look at his teammates before nodding at them. It was a good team, a balanced composition that fit the song well even.

Now, they just had to hold on and wish that the higher ranking trainees would skip their team.

The world seemed to have granted their prayers. While the dance teams were basically changing members at every trainee choosing their team, Seongbin's group was firm.

Yur finally called for the last trainee.“Trainee Park Joowoo, you can choose your team now.”

That Park Joowoo remained unmoving even on the third interim check and still held the first place rank—both within the pointing system of the evaluations and the fan voting system. Park Joowoo was that good, and it's exactly why Seongbin could never understand why people say they were rivals.

Standing on the makeshift platform along with three other trainees, Seongbin could only clasp his hands tight as Park Joowoo faced the direction of the vocal teams. It was either their team or the other two—but regardless, as all vocal teams were already full, there would be one trainee forced to move away.

Seongbin must have looked at him intensely because Park Joowoo met his eyes. It was only for a second yet Seongbin was locked in his place, and Park Joowoo started walking toward his team.

He stopped right in front of Seongbin.

For the first time, Park Joowoo talked to him.

“Jeong Seongbin.”

All sorts of thoughts ran through Seongbin's mind, leading him into panic. Would Park Joowoo push him off the group? Did he see Seongbin as a rival to beat? Did he dislike Seongbin to the point of taking him out of the group? If Park Joowoo pushed him out of the group, where should he even go?

Park Joowoo's words were, however, different. His eyes even told a different story.

He looked at Seongbin, eyes tinted with an excitement he had never seen from the first placer.

“Let's be on the same team.”

Before Seongbin could even grasp the situation, Park Joowoo was already standing next to him and some MYTH trainee was scrambling in the center to find a new team.

By dinner, they crowded Seongbin's table. By they, who else, but the nosy trainees of other teams?

“Seongbin, what's it like being in the same team as your rival?”

“I was so surprised! I really thought he was going to push you out of the team… Then he said that!”

“I thought I was watching a drama unfold in real life…”

“The tension must be crazy in your team with two main vocalists, no?”

Seongbin was about to answer them, to deny their outrageous thoughts that he and Park Joowoo had some unresolved tension brought by their rivalry, when the man himself suddenly arrived at their table, holding his own tray of food.

“Seongbin, can we sit together…?”

He ignored the not-so-oblivious gasps from the boys at his table and pulled out the empty chair next to him.

“Of course, Joowoo.”

One training session was all it took for Seongbin to realize that they weren't made to be rivals at all. They weren't anything like the narratives the others painted for them, not at all.

When they gathered earlier to discuss how they would move as a team, both his teammates, Sehan and Yeongyu, seemed to be nervous around them. They kept cautiously watching the two, as if they were bombs that might defuse anytime now that they were together.

The song had four positions—the killing part, the main vocalist, and two sub vocalists. After listening to the demo given by the production crew on the tablet and going through the lyrics multiple times, Seongbin brought it up to them.

“How should we choose the parts?”

Yeongyu immediately raised his hand. “Sehan and I will take the sub-vocalists parts. You two can discuss the center and main vocal position.”

Seongbin looked at him with widened eyes but Yeongyu just pressed his lips firmly and subtly shook his head. Yeongyu and Sehan were like shrimps caught between the fight of two whales—that's why they immediately backed out.

He just sighed inwardly then glanced at Park Joowoo who was still reading the lyrics sheet.

“Park Joowoo…”

Saying his name still felt strange in Seongbin's mouth. He's heard countless times around him, more than enough that Park Joowoo no longer felt unfamiliar, but Seongbin never really addressed him.

“Yes?”

“Are there any parts you want to do?”

Seongbin wanted to do the killing part. Maybe this time, they really had to fight it out for the killing part position.

Park Joowoo looked at the lyrics sheet then at Seongbin. “The killing part does the bridge, right?”

Seongbin nodded. The bridge was honestly the highlight of the song, because after that, the killing part and main vocalist would be belting high notes.

“Then, I'd like to take the main vocalist part…” Park Joowoo shyly spoke while pointing at the lyrics sheet.

“Are you sure? You don't want to try for the killing part?” Seongbin asked him, but he just nodded.

“I think Seongbin's voice would fit the killing part really well.”

At the sudden mention of his name, he couldn't help but stare at Park Joowoo with wide eyes.

“Me?”

“I think you should do the killing part, Seongbin.”

Contrary to what others thought, their team sorted out the position picking quickly and easily. Park Joowoo himself made it easy. The rumors about him being a difficult team member was just an exaggeration after all, Seongbin thought.

After having dinner, Seongbin and Joowoo returned to their team's practice room. Yeongyu and Sehan mentioned they would join late because they wanted to consult other trainees regarding their rap parts.

Hence, why it was just him and Joowoo in the room for the meantime.

“Should we begin practicing?”

They comfortably sat on the floor, both leaning on the wall behind them. Seongbin played the guide on the tablet.

Somehow, it felt more nerve-wracking to sing in front of Joowoo than before the mentors or the fans. It seemed all the rivalry talks had done some damage in his head.

Since the killing part opened the song, he had no choice but to go first.

The song was a romantic love song from a 2nd generation idol group. It had been a long time since the original was released so it was quite old-fashioned. The rearrangement, however, was more mellow and had the vibe of a band song—which Seongbin really liked.

When a man is in love, he recalled the song's meaning as he began the first verse, he will only look at you.

Seongbin glanced at Joowoo as the first verse was about to end, and the words just disappeared in his mouth.

Joowoo had changed positions. He was slightly leaning toward Seongbin's direction now, hugging both his knees while he rested his head atop them and watched Seongbin with all of his attention.

The lyrics once again rang through Seongbin's mind.

When a man is in love, he will only look at you.

“Seongbin, is there a problem…?” Joowoo asked him as he suddenly stopped singing.

“Ah, I'm sorry! I, uhm… I got distracted a bit. Let me try again.”

Somehow, this time, the words were even harder to make out.

Seongbin held on until Joowoo took over for his parts.

He knew and acknowledged Joowoo's skills. It wasn't just for his face that he had consistently been the show's rank one.

To hear Joowoo's voice right next to him without the speaker or the loud recording overlapping it was an experience Seongbin never had.

Joowoo sounded like a singer who only sang his whole life.

Perhaps it was because Joowoo had only performed intense songs or dark concepts, or his nerves prevented him from observing Joowoo's team stage, but it was only now that he realized.

Joowoo looked the happiest when he's singing.

When they finished the first practice, they simply let the demo play on loop at a soft volume while they talked.

“Joowoo, the song really suits your tone.”

“You mean it…?”

Seongbin nodded. “I think band songs fit you well.”

Joowoo's eyes shone at his words. “I love band songs…!”

Something clicked in Seongbin's head. “Is that why you joined this team? Man in Love had the feeling of a band song.”

Joowoo answered. “That's part of the reason…”

He looked at Joowoo, quietly asking with his eyes. What could be the main reason why he joined the team?

“I joined because I wanted to be on the same team as you, Seongbin.”

It felt as if Seongbin had just heard a confession. His heart was beating too fast for its own good.

“Let's, let's practice again!”

Spending days together for practice and being locked up in the dorm meant they had all the time to get to know each other and Seongbin had learned they have too many similarities with each other.

Joowoo was the same age as him, born in September, and was just about six months younger. He wasn't an idol trainee like Seongbin, but came from a music academy where his vocal mentor encouraged him to try joining the show.

After learning that Joowoo was also like Seongbin who loved music so much and knew songs way beyond their age, whatever time they had outside practice and sleep was spent on talking about songs or hogging the communal tablet while sharing a pair of wired earphones.

Knowing Joowoo felt like discovering a friend he should have had a long time ago. Seongbin couldn't help but feel bitter that the narrative painted by everyone except them turned him and Joowoo into rivals who would fight each other at every opportunity.

“You know, if you never joined the team, we'd probably never talk to each other.”

That was what he told Joowoo one night they went into Seongbin's room, in the bathroom to be specific.

Joowoo was by the sink, carefully scrubbing a persistent sauce stain on Seongbin's white training uniform, all while Seongbin was at the doorway, slightly leaning to the wall. Joowoo had taken over at washing his uniform after Seongbin almost made the stain even bigger.

“It's a bit funny…” Joowoo answered him.

“What is?”

“I was too shy and scared to talk to you before this team match. I didn't know how to approach you,” he confessed to Seongbin.

Seongbin somehow felt wronged. “What do you mean you were scared to talk to me? I should be the one saying that.”

“Huh? Why?”

“Joowoo, I'm sorry, but I thought you were really intimidating.”

“No way…!”

“Wait, you're going to tear my shirt!”

Realizing they both had the same first impressions, both Seongbin and Joowoo broke into laughter.

“When I saw your audition, I thought you looked really handsome and scary,” Seongbin spoke in between chuckles.

Joowoo could only sigh regretfully. “Do I really look that scary…?”

“You want me to be honest?”

“... Please be honest and kind with me, Seongbin-ah.”

That made Seongbin laugh even louder. He looked at Joowoo. That scary trainee who wore an all-black outfit with an even more intimidating black leather jacket was gone. That consistent survival show first placer whom everyone was afraid of was gone.

The Park Joowoo before him was just a shy boy who hesitated when talking to other people, a trainee just like him who loves singing so much, a guy who would trade his sweet snacks for Seongbin's fruits and plain yogurt, and a friend who would stay with him for his late night practices that would eventually turn into chatting until the sun peeks at the window of the practice room.

This Park Joowoo wasn't scary at all. He was even fun to tease and get along with.

Joowoo felt like a mirror to Seongbin for the many similarities they have, and a perfect jigsaw puzzle piece for their differences that complemented each other.

Was it too much to call someone you've only known for barely a week a soulmate?

“You're not scary at all, Joowoo.” Seongbin settled on those words instead.

Joowoo gently wetted the shirt over the faucet. “I thought you were intimidating…”

“Huh?”

He pointed at Seongbin in amusement. “I really wanted to talk to you after your audition because you performed a song by an artist I like and I was really impressed by you…”

Seongbin was baffled. They could've been friends much earlier. They could've done something to stop everyone from thinking they were rivals. “Why didn't you?!”

“You felt so unreachable,” Joowoo answered with a sheepish smile.

“During the signal song test preparation, I thought I could talk to you but you were surrounded by many trainees. You were the All-stars class leader, and you even helped the other trainees. I couldn't really bother you.”

That took Seongbin aback. It felt really silly now that he heard all the reasons they only grew close now.

Joowoo rinsed the laundry powder out of the shirt. The stain was gone, as if it was never there on the white shirt.

“When Yur-sunbaenim said we could choose our teammates, I thought this would be my chance to talk to you. You're an amazing singer and leader, and I wanted to know what it's like to be on the same team as you.”

“So, how was it?”

He smiled at Seongbin, not a sheepish or shy one, but a genuine, happy smile Seongbin only saw when he's listening to his favorite music.

“I have no regrets on choosing your team.”

“Joowoo.”

“Yes?”

“Thank you for joining my team.”

Joowoo nodded, softly giggling even.

“Even if you really want to do the rock song from the other vocal team,” Seongbin added, making him giggle more.

“I would've chosen your team regardless…!”

“Even if I did a rap song?”

Joowoo winced and answered. “Even if you did a rap song, I still would've joined your team.”

“Wow… Joowoo, you really wanted to be close to me. I'm so flustered.”

“Seongbin, don't tease me…!”

“Joowoo, it's okay to admit that you want to make friends with me.”

“Seongbin…!!”

Seeing his poor training uniform being held as hostage, Seongbin stopped teasing Joowoo who looked as if he would burst into tears if he were to push him more.

“But, you know,” Seongbin spoke in a more serious tone, ending the teasing, “I'm really glad we became friends.”

“Me too…”

Seongbin jolted when a hand suddenly tapped his shoulder.

“Guys, I'm really sorry to interrupt you.”

“Yeongyu, don't scare me like that!” Seongbin complained to him.

“Sorry, the mood was really serious and I didn't want to interrupt, but Sehan really needs to poop right now.” Yeongyu told him with a grin and pointed at Sehan who was standing near his bunk bed. He looked really horrified at getting called out.

“Hyung, don't say that out loud!”

“Sehan really needs to poop—!”

“Sehan, it's okay. We're done here, you can go now.”

“Seongbin, not you too!”

The two weeks preparation for each team match had never been enough for trainees. It was always too quick, too short for them to feel confident to stand on stage and perform what they could say as their best.

Somehow, it felt even more lacking this time.

Standing on the backstage with his team, Seongbin shook off his nerves by lightly stretching his body. Unlike the other teams, their song didn't really have a choreography which was less of a burden to them.

“Guys, have you adjusted your standing microphones?” Yeongyu came in to remind them.

“Ah, I haven't!”

“Come quickly here before they take them for the stage, Sehan.”

Seongbin quietly watched the current team performing through the television on the waiting room. Their team was up next. They would be singing what felt like a band song right after an intense idol group song. All Seongbin could hope for was that they would leave a mark in the audience and win the match.

“Are you nervous?” Joowoo asked him softly as he stood next to him.

“A little…?”

Joowoo pulled his hand, then enclosed it with both of his before squeezing it gently.

“We'll be okay.”

“I know.”

“You won't make a mistake, Seongbin…”

“I really hope so.”

“We will win…!”

“Of course, we will win. Mister First Place is in our team.”

Joowoo winced, foretelling a grand round of teasing from Seongbin but he held back from stopping him. “If that would make you less nervous… then yes.”

“Man in Love team, please come up here now!”

Seongbin clenched his hand, grasping Joowoo's in return.

“We won't be teammates anymore after this…”

“If we were allowed to choose teammates again, I'll join your team. But if you get to pick, you have to join mine.”

It was an assuring promise that removed all the nervousness left in Seongbin's heart. More than the audience and the evaluation, what scared him was turning the performance he and Joowoo poured their hearts out for into a failure.

Seongbin showed him his pinky finger.

“Even if we were to do a rap song?”

There was no hesitation when Joowoo locked his own pinky with Seongbin's.

“I know you wouldn't choose a rap song, Seongbin.” Joowoo spoke with a confident grin.

Seongbin wondered. When will he ever get used to the blinding spotlights of the stage?

In their standing positions on the stage, he and Joowoo stood in the center while Sehan and Yeongyu were next to them respectively.

Joowoo glanced at him right as he was looking at him. He mouthed at Seongbin.

Let's enjoy the song.

It was all that Seongbin needed.

Soon, the familiar intro of the song they had been preparing for weeks began playing.

Seongbin opened the song as the killing part. Joowoo had mentioned during practice that it really suited Seongbin's voice, and how it was perfect that he would start the verse because his voice was, according to Joowoo, the essence of the song.

When his verse ended and Yeongyu took over, Seongbin looked to his left, to Joowoo. Like always, Joowoo was already looking at him, sporting a wide smile—the one that made his eyes curl and his cheeks look like apples.

Joowoo soon entered with the chorus approaching, and it was Seongbin's second favorite verse in the song.

Whenever Joowoo sang the chorus in practice, he was practically beaming in happiness. It wasn't just Seongbin who loved that part, Joowoo too.

But at this moment, when Joowoo sang on stage, he really felt like the epitome of a man in love.

If he looked at Seongbin with those eyes, how was he supposed to act normal and pretend he's not flustered?

Still, the mood brought out his excitement and he could confidently say he's performing better than his condition in the rehearsals or practice. His adlibs over Joowoo's chorus sounded good through his in-ears.

As Yeongyu and Sehan built up the song for the bridge, Seongbin kept glancing at Joowoo.

He wanted to ask Joowoo if he was feeling the same as him. Ecstatic and giddy, too overwhelmed by emotions. But he couldn't really ask him right there, not when multiple cameras were locked onto them and hundreds of fans watched them closely.

Joowoo's bright eyes answered him instead.

He really was just the same as Seongbin.

As Sehan's rap ended, Seongbin's bridge part began.

The camera director had specifically instructed him earlier to look at the camera for the bridge. In a show where every second of screentime was an advantage, it was a special benefit for him as the team's center. The bridge part where the camera only focused on him was an opportunity for him to make himself known to fans.

However, he couldn't stop himself from looking away as his lines ended because Joowoo would join him as they transition to the final chorus.

It's both their favorite part, the line where they sing together. Not just adlibbing or harmonizing, they sing a line together.

When they first nailed it during practice, they both wondered and asked.

How have they been singing their whole lives without the other person?

And now that they've experienced sharing a stage and a song together, Seongbin and Joowoo had no idea how they'd move forward if they weren't together.

Horrified was an understatement to describe how Seongbin felt after watching the broadcast of the position match episode.

“They got that all on camera?”

Joowoo quietly fiddled with his fingers. “There aren't that many places in the dorms without cameras…”

Seongbin knew that too, but to see with his own eyes how the moments he thought were just for him and Joowoo were recorded and shown for everyone to see on national television… It was a bit embarrassing. It's as if people were trespassing his heart and getting to see what he kept so close and personal to him.

[ “Seongbin, let's debut together.” ]

“But I already took off my microphone there…!”

Seeing Joowoo react similarly, Seongbin felt a bit at ease.

[ BOYS PLANET 5 EP 7: MAN IN LOVE ]

i dont understand why these so-called fans keep turning jw and sb to be enemies when the boys clearly like each other. did you watch ep 6-7 with your eyes closed? did you not see how they fawned over each other??? did you not listen when bin said he wanted to be friends but it was a bit awkward because people think they were rivals/enemies? did you not see joo telling bin that he wants to debut together right after their performance?

1. [+31, -9]  those people are so ridiculous TT bin and joo's chemistry is so genuine

2. [+3, -48]  of course it's the shippers saying this

3. [+88, -11] bin will literally use you as firewood just to keep joo warm watch your words

When morning broke and the first train of the day started running, Seongbin and Joowoo left.

Joowoo had stayed the night at Seongbin's house to watch the broadcast together since it aired quite late at night.

It was still early enough for the streets to be quite empty so they didn't have to worry about people noticing them. That worry seemed to be a little useless considering they were both wrapped in layers because of the cold morning breeze.

“Seongbin…”

“Yes?”

“Have I ever told you that I'm really grateful to have known you?”

“Yes, this is the fifth time.”

“And that I really want to debut with you?”

“That too.”

Joowoo smiled at his answers. “Okay. Just making sure.”

“Making sure of what?”

“I'm making sure that you're aware of my feelings.”

Seongbin froze in his tracks, but Joowoo continued to walk so he had no choice but to immediately catch up to him.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“I'm going home. Thank you for letting me stay the night. I'll see you at the next filming, Seongbin.”

“Joowoo, what did you mean by that?” Seongbin winced at the intentional cover-up but Joowoo had no plans of answering seeing as to how he was even chuckling.

Joowoo then hailed a cab to go home. Before he got inside, he playfully grinned at Seongbin while clenching his fists in the air.

“Meboz, fighting!”

If this had been another match between the two of them, Seongbin would be taking another loss.
