Chapter Text
“Another dead end captain.”, Oluwande says as Stede sighs while nervously tapping his foot.
“Is there anyone who knows where he went after stopping here?”
“There were some rumours about him planning on raiding some english ships farther South.”
“Then that’s where we’ll go. Thank you my dear boy.” They head to the ship where the rest of the crew is impaitinetly waiting for them.
After Stede had showed up to the small island where the Kraken had left them they found and stole a ship which wasnt as nice as the Revenge but
it was better than a rowboat. And although Stede felt bad he was determined to find and help the Kraken who he still called Ed.
Everyone disagreed at first but through Stede’s fancy words and heartfelt speech they agreed. They also wanted to see if their friends were still alive or if they were killed by the Kraken.
Stede still belived that Edward was still there and just needed a bit of a nudge to come out.
“How’d it go?” Roach asks.
“Another dead end but we have another lead.” Oluwande explains to the crew.
While the others get the ship ready to take off yet again to find the Kraken Stede goes into the captains cabin.
He walks in and collapses on the uncomfortable chair in which he spent most his nights reliving all his memories with Ed.
He pulls out a map and crosses off an area and circles a new one. He then grabs a journal from his coat pocket since Lucius wasnt around to write for him anymore.
This journal wasnt as nice and reeked of whiskey from the previous owner of the ship but Stede made it work. Stede had been searching for Ed for almost two month and was not ready to give up yet.
He was determined to find and apologize to Ed for all the problems he’s caused. Later in the night the crew was sound asleep except for Stede and Oluwande who went up to check on him.
“You should get some rest cap’n” he says to Stede softly. Stede looking very sleep deprived tries his best to politely decline.
“I’m okay Olu I just need to keep a lookout just in case Ed…” Stede drifts off but hits a wave and he jumps and clenches the wheel.
“Cap’n you are clearly really tired and we won’t get there until another day or so. Get some rest I can take over.” Olu says as he tries to guide Stede away from the wheel but Stede snaps at him.
“NO! You don’t understand! I need to stay here! I can’t leave again, not again! “ Stede slowly breaks down while still clenching onto the wheel.
Olu holds him until Stede finally gives in and hugs him back. “I am truly sorry for my outlandish behaviour. Maybe your right I do need some rest.” Olu nods and takes hold of the wheel.
Stede heads to his cabin but he hears sobbing behind the stairs and kneels down only to see Black Pete curled in a ball crying holding onto a piece of red fabric.
“Are you alright dear?” Black Pete looks up and wipes his tears and nods.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Black Pete then scoots and taps the spot next to him and Stede takes a seat.
“Well ya see cap’n I just really miss Lucius and I just hope he’s alright.”
As Stede goes to comfort him he notices the fabric and pauses. “Oh I see. I’m sure he’s alright but may I ask where you found that fine fabric?”
Black Pete looks down and fiddles with the fabric a bit more. “I found it on the island. It reminded me of Lucius so I kept it.” He hands it to Stede who immediately recognized the fabric as Eds.
“I know this means a lot to you dear boy but would you care if I took it because it seems that this fabric is one of the ones from my ship.” Stede asks as he focuses on the fabric.
Black Pete hadn’t cared much for the fabric that much and it seemed Stede wanted it more so he nods. “Thank you my dear boy! I should be get going to bed now and so should you good night!”
Stede says as he heads to his cabin.Stede hops in the bed immediately since after he got his new ship he doens’t do any of his usual regimens that he usually does before bed. He clenches the fabric tight to his chest and looks out the window at the moon shining high in sky. He thinks to himself…
