Sope: His Second Chance

Summary:

When Yoongi finally gets out of prison, after months of being inside, the whole world seems to be against him. Even his brother and parents don't believe in him. So why does a random guy at his community service believe in him? Why does he give him the second chance everyone else doesn't?

He doesn't know. All he knows is he'll try his hardest to prove it to him it was the right choice to make.

Notes:

Hello!! I am Universe_Escape and I am a big Army who is absolutely loving Arirang which has been of repeat since release. Welcome to 'Sope: His Second Chance' - a fic solely focused on the building friendship and relationship of Hoseok and Yoongi with a lot of focus on Yoongi and Jungkook's sibling relationship too - as well as some minor building of other characters as well. I wrote this a few years ago and is posted on my Quotev account. It is a fic I am still proud of and am using it as a means to understand and get to grips with the Archive site and how to post to be able to post new, future works. If you haven't already read this Fic on Quotev (likely majority of you) then enjoy this rollercoaster of a ride with lots of ups and down, and a big focus on character development for a good majority of the characters.

Chapter Text

The screams and shouts Yoongi was so used to for 6 long months made him smirk. He turned back to the guys in the cells, waving to them mockingly, "See you later, Bitches!"

The chaos only got worse from there. The guards struggling to quieten them down and Yoongi was loving it. He laughs as he takes it in. Takes in the chaos he has caused on his departure.

"Stop winding them up Min," the officer that was escorting him out grunted.

Yoongi gasped like he was hurt, turning back to the officer. "I only said goodbye. Not my fault those guys are so sensitive." Yoongi said, ensuring he is loud enough for at least some to hear, as he was hit with the breeze of: "Freedom." The male sighed, smiling up to the sky.

"Remember, Min, you still need to go to the animal shelter every weekday to finish your sentencing."

"I know, god," Yoongi voiced, rolling his eyes at the officer who scolding him for swearing.

"If you don't attend, you'll be back inside." He said and Yoongi reassured he knew, as they reached the leaving gate. He bidded a final farewell to the officer, laughing at his unbothered expression before turning back around.

Immediately seeing his father - who didn't look impressed.

"Long time no see, Appa," Yoongi said, smirking once more.

The father just rolled his eyes, "Get in. You're lucky we're taking you home." He said with no emotion at all.

Yoongi laughed as he got into the car. The drive back to his home is basically silent, not even the radio being on, but Yoongi didn't care. He watched the prison move away from sight and smelt the freedom clear in the air.

"I'm home!" Yoongi shouted when he entered the porch to their house, not caring when his father scolded him.

No one responded, which didn't really surprise Yoongi in the slightest as he entered the living room. His brother and mother sat on the sofa.

"Hello, Little Brother, Eomma, did you miss me?" Yoongi asked, expecting at least his brother to show interest but he didn't. All Jungkook did was rise from the sofa and move up the stairs. "Ungrateful brat!"

"Don't use that language, Yoongi." His mum said, rising to tell him to put his things away.

"Of course, Eomma," he said with a smirk, taking his bags and moving to the staircase.

"And enough with that attitude!" His father shouted. Yoongi gave him a wave, slowly followed by an 'I heard you' before he moved into his old bedroom. It hasn't changed in the slightest. His keyboard was gathering dust on the side and clothes still littered the floor. It was like he never left. "Ah, my own bed," he sighed as he jumped into it.

The first dinner at home was underwhelming. He prodded at the dry chicken, nibbled on the chips but it wasn't anything that extraverted.

"Jeez, the prison food is better than this," he said in the silence of the room. Pushing it away, "I'm going out to get food-"

"You're not going anywhere," his father said, glaring at his eldest.

Yoongi let out a quick laugh, "You don't control me." He said bluntly, standing up and grabbing his car keys.

"No, I don't," he said, waiting until Yoongi got to the door to say, "But I can easily call your parole officer and say you're going against the terms of your release."

Glaring, Yoongi turned to his father, "I don't remember any of the terms saying I have to stay here."

It was the father's turn to smirk as he said, "Actually it does say that you need to stay under our roof from 7 o'clock onwards."

The excitement and sense of freedom Yoongi once felt was broken. "You've got to be kidding me. Is there at least better food than this crap?"

The two looked unimpressed by their son's mouth. "With that attitude. No." Their mother said, before demanding him to, "Sit down."

Yoongi pressed his tongue against his cheek before moving into the kitchen. Ignoring how his parents were shouting for him to return. Yoongi went through the cupboards and found himself some bread. Deciding to make himself a simple ham and cheese sandwich because even that would taste better than the half-ass meal his parents made.

"There. Now I won't stave," he declared as he sat back at the table with his sandwich.

His parent's exchanged a look as they continued eating in silence once more. Until his father cleared his throat. "Yoongi, you need to be ready by 8 am sharp. I'm dropping you off at the animal centre."

"Why is he going to an animal centre?" Jungkook asked.

Yoongi rolled his eyes, "Some stupid community service, why can't I drive myself?" He asked, cleaning up the last of his sandwich.

There was no reply for what felt like hours until their mum said, "After what you did, we don't trust you. Your keys will not be given back to you until you prove yourself to us."

Yoongi's hands came down before he could even stop it. Sending cutlery, plates and food flying.

"Yoongi that-"

"WHO GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO TAKE AWAY MY CAR?! I BROUGHT THAT CAR MYSELF-"

"With or without the drug money?" Jungkook challenged.

Yoongi turned to the younger, glaring at him, "Without the money, dumbass. I got the car before I even became friends with that group-"

"Ha, friends? Really, you're calling them thugs friends?" Jungkook asked and Yoongi lost it. Out of all the people, he would've thoughts at least his brother would show some excitement. Clearly not.

"OH SHUT UP BRAT! You have no fucking idea what I went through-"

"What YOU went though?!" Jungkook shouted, standing up at the table. His eyes were wide and filled with tears. "What about us? Me? It has been hell ever since you left!"

"And this is how you greet me?" Yoongi asked, laughing, "I'm finally home and all you're doing is talking crap."

The younger rolled his eyes, "Maybe because I'm not that thrilled your home."

"Why you little-"

"ENOUGH!" The two stopped in their tracks at their father's bellow. Jungkook shot down into his seat but Yoongi stayed standing. Challenging his father with a stern look, "Sit back down Yoongi. You are going to finish your food and-"

"I'm done with this crap food. I'll be upstairs." He said, pushing away his plate. Waving off his father when he shouted for him to return.

Yoongi basically collapsed onto the bed, his whole body bursting with rage. If it was before he went down, Yoongi would be calling Minki to get him something to relax. But sadly that is not an option now. "Guess I'll have to relax in the old fashion way," he huffed as he got his remote and turned on his TV. Accidently surprised, but thankful he has still got that at least.

The afternoon soon eased into the evening. Not a lot happening at all, actually making Yoongi start to miss the chaos of the prison life. "Urg, maybe Kook's free to chat," he said, remembering before he went in prison and how they would always chat in the younger's room. It was the norm before all this.

Yoongi didn't bother knocking as he entered. Readying himself to shout when he saw Jungkook with his phone to his ear.

"Yeah I know, it was the worst Jimin-ah. No one was even saying a word. I-" Jungkook caught sight of Yoongi and his eyes went dark, "Get out!" He demanded, but Yoongi shook his head. Shutting the door instead and walking towards Jungkook's bed. "I said. Get. Out." Jungkook said, attempting to look angry.

Yoongi could only laugh, "You're too cute to be angry," he said as he took Jungkook's phone from his hand.

"Hey!" He shouted, seconds before Yoongi ended the call. "I was talking to my friend! Why are you even here?! I don't want you here!"

"I'm bored so I thought we could chat. Just like old times" Yoongi said with shrug. He leaned back against the wall, staring at the younger. "So, how have you been? Has life been treating you well with me gone?"

Jungkook glared, "why would you even care?" he huffed with his arms crossing over his chest. "Just go, Yoongi, or I'll shout for Eomma and Appa."

"Wow," Yoongi said, rolling his eyes as he sees his brother had a nice, neat pile on his desk. Just out of spite, Yoongi got up and knocked it all down. Sheets fell down, pens covered the floor and Yoongi made it his missions to step on as much as he can. Hearing the rips of the pages as ink exploded from pens.

All over the papers that scattered nearly the whole floor.

"That's my school work!" Jungkook shouted in a panic, pushing Yoongi out of the way. The elder stumbled, watching his brother scrambled on the floor, trying to pick up the sheets but most were ripped or covering in black ink. None really salvageable.

Yoongi saw tears well in Jungkook's eyes. It didn't make sense. "It's only school work. Don't be such a pussy-"

"Shut up!" Jungkook said, breathing breaking as he attempted to gather everything up. "You don't understand. You weren't-" the younger stopped, shaking his head with a sigh, "Just go Yoongi."

The elder scoffed, "Fine, whatever. Out of all the people here I thought you would at least give a fuck. Thanks for the shit welcome home," he said, a tad hurt his little brother is acting so harsh to him.

It's only been 6 months. How much can change in 6 months?

"J-just...just go Yoongi," Jungkook said with a tremble in his voice.

Yoongi rolled his eyes, feeling Jungkook's phone in his pocket. He smirked. "Yo brat, do you want this?" He asked, taunted, swinging the device between two fingers.

The younger's head rose and his eyes widen. "Please that's my-"

"Oh, you'll be polite now with your pleases?" He laughed, "After disrespecting me, your hyung, you'll be nice as I've got your precious little phone."

Jungkook rose slowly, hands shaking, "I stopped considering you my hyung a while ago."

"Oh really?!" Yoongi said, laughing once more, "You're really making me want to break this god damn thing."

"No! P-please that's the only thing I have too...can I just have it?" He asked, eyes wide and teary.

The eldest of the two thought about it, "I don't know. You have really disappointed me, you know? I thought we were a team, Kook. I thought we were unstoppable-"

"Until you got involved in a gang and drug deals, leaving me to pick up the pieces," Jungkook said, snatching the phone from Yoongi's hand as he was overcome with shock.

Yoongi stared at his brother, confused what he meant as he watched Jungkook pick up the papers. Throwing then straight into the bin. "By the way: Welcome home," Jungkook said with no emotion in his words.

"Yeah, whatever," Yoongi huffs, turning out of the room and getting into his own bed. Not even bothering to change as he made himself comfy in his own bed. "Welcome to freedom, Yoongi," he told himself, rolling his eyes, "It fucking sucks."
