Chapter 1 How I Feel About You
Gohan’s POV

Don’t get me wrong. I missed my dad a lot when he was dead, and was really happy that he was back. But…I forgot how loud his snoring was. Seriously, how did I used to get any sleep as a kid?

Mom and Goten on the other hand didn’t seem to be having any trouble with dad’s snoring at all. Both of them were fast asleep as they snuggled up next to him.

Seeing this made me happy. But, realising that I probably wasn’t going to be getting any sleep anytime soon, I got up and quietly snuck out of the room my family was sharing at Kami’s Lookout.

I decided to go for a bit of a fly to hopefully tire myself out enough to sleep. But, as I was flying, I noticed a familiar figure sitting by one of the pillars at the top of the lookout.

“Videl? It’s really late. I wonder why she’s up?” Wanting to make sure Videl was okay, I flew up to where she was and landed next to her.

“Gohan, what are you doing up?” she asked as she stood up.

“It’s been so long since I’ve slept in the same room as my dad, I forgot how loud his snoring is,” I revealed.

“I know what you mean,” Videl revealed. “My dad and I used to live in a much smaller place before he became famous, and we used to get complaints from the neighbours about his snoring.”

“It’s a good thing my family lives in the mountains far away from other people. Otherwise the same thing would probably happen to us?” This made both Videl and laugh. “Is that why you’re up? Was your dad’s snoring getting too much for you?”

“That was one of the reasons,” Videl replied. “But I also guess the excitement from everything that’s happened hasn’t worn off yet?”

“That’s true. A lot has happened in the last few days.” After I said this, the smile dropped from my face as I thought about everything Videl had gone through recently. “Videl, are you…are you okay?”

“Huh? Am I okay? Why would you ask that?” Videl asked.

“It’s just…you’ve been through a lot in the last few days.” I started feeling guilty when I said this, and I looked at the ground. “And…it’s because of me.”

“Gohan-” Before Videl could say anything else, I cut her off.

“Videl, I am so sorry that I got you involved in all of this,” I apologised. “If…if you don’t want to have anything to do with me after all of this, I totally understand. We can go back to just being classmates and nothing more.”

I wanted to be way more than ‘just classmates’ with Videl. But, if it meant that she wouldn’t get hurt again, then I’d stay away from her if I had to. But, when I looked up at her, she seemed really angry for some reason. “Videl, are you–”

“Gohan, you idiot!” This outburst from Videl took me by surprise.

“Huh?!  Why am I an idiot?!” I asked, really confused. Then, I noticed that tears were starting to form in Videl’s eyes.

“Gohan, don’t you…don’t you realise how I feel about you?”

When I heard Videl say this, my heart began to flutter. “How you…how you feel about me?”

Videl clenched her hands and stared at me with an intense look in her eyes. “When your dad told me that you had died, I refused to believe it!”

“You…you did?” I asked in shock.

“Of course I did!” Videl replied angrily. “I…I could feel in my heart that you weren’t dead!”

“You…could feel it in your heart?” I asked in shock.

“Yes. When we were in Other World, your mom, Bulma and I went looking for you. And, when we couldn’t find you, I was happy because it meant I was right.” Videl had a smile on her face. But that smile disappeared a moment later. “But, I then realised, if you were alive, and I was dead…was I going to get to tell you how I felt about you?”

“Videl.” I wanted to tell Videl how I felt about her, but I couldn’t think of the right words to say it.

“Gohan…I…I…” By this point, Videl’s face was turning bright red. “You know what? Screw it!” Videl suddenly grabbed onto my shirt. And then, she asked me something I couldn’t believe. “Gohan, I’m going to kiss you now! Got it?!”

My heart started racing when Videl said this, and I could feel my face burning up. “I…ah…okay.” Once I gave Videl the go ahead, she pulled me down closer to her height, and kissed me.

Even though she gave me a head’s up, I still froze up when Videl kissed me. And, before I could react, she pulled away and let go of my shirt. “We should be getting to bed! Good night, Gohan!”

With this, Videl turned around and began flying away. But, finally snapping out of my shock, I called out to her. “Videl, wait!”

Videl suddenly stopped when she heard this, before slowly turning her head around to face me. “Y…yes.”

“Good night,” I said with a smile.

Videl looked at me in shock, before smiling back at me. She then turned back around and flew away. And once she was gone, I punched the air in victory.

The next morning, everyone was getting ready to head to their respective homes.

“After everything that’s happened these last few days, I am so happy to be heading home,” Mom said.

“Are you excited to be going home after so long, Dad?” Goten asked.

“Definitely. Especially ‘cause I’ll get to eat your mom’s cooking again,” Dad replied.

“I’ll have to start cooking bigger portions of food since I’ll be feeding three saiyans now,” Mom said, which got a laugh out of everyone.

“Well, we should probably be heading home too?” Hercule said, before looking at Videl. “Ready to go, sweetie?”

“I’m ready to go, Dad,” Videl replied. Then, she looked at me, and my heart skipped a beat when I thought about what happened last night. “I’ll see you at school, Gohan?”

After I heard this, I smiled. “Yeah. See you at school, Videl.”

For a moment, Videl and I just stared at each other, and we didn’t even notice our parents looking back and forth between us. Then, Hercule cleared his throat. “Honey, it’s time to go.”

“Got it, Dad,” Videl said. Then, she waved at me as she walked away with her dad; who pointed two of his fingers at his eyes before pointing them at me.

I waved back as Videl and Hercule left. And once they were gone, I let out a content sigh.

“Gohan, can I ask you something?” Mom asked.

“Sure. What is it, Mom?” I asked.

“What are your feelings for Videl?” Mom asked.

“My…feelings for Videl?” I knew how I felt for Videl, but needed a moment to think about how to express my feelings in words. “Videl…is very hot-headed, and stubborn. When she wants something, she won’t stop until she gets it.”

Before I continued speaking, I smiled. “But…she’s also super strong, and has a strong sense of justice.”

I stopped smiling when I thought back to what happened at the tournament. “When she got hurt at the tournament, I was angry at myself for failing to protect her from getting hurt. At that moment, I made a promise to myself. I would never let Videl get hurt again. From now on, I’ll protect her.”

After I said this, I looked at my mom…and saw that she was crying! “Mom, are you okay?!”

“That…that was so romantic!” Mom said, before grabbing onto Dad’s arm. “Goku, our son has fallen in love! He’s all grown up!”

“Would you look at that?” Krillin asked. “Gohan fell in love with the daughter of the person who took the credit from him for defeating Cell. What an interesting turn of events, indeed.”

“In…love?” I asked. Then, I started thinking about Videl, and smiled.
