Summary:

Ominis Gaunt, Vesper Vane and Sebastian Sallow’s friendship fell apart rapidly at the end of their 5th Year. Before his best friends—once his closest allies—did the unthinkable turning Sebastian in, cracks already appeared. 7 years later and friends turned traitors and enemies. Salazar's Vanguard's War of 1897 against the Rockwood-Gaunt Syndicate is just around the corner. All sides need hér or want her head. And Sallow? He is obsessed with her.

Nobody "just" pierced her shield like that. She recognized the type of magic as a stinging Hex, an unusual, darker and quite effective one to collapse her defenses with one single blow.

'Protego Maxi—'

'Expelliarmus.'

She dodged. His disarming charm missed, barely. She ducked behind another tree, gasping for air.

'Please, Vane. Don't.'

'Don't tell me what to do, hiding beneath a Disillusionment charm like the vile coward you are.'

'How very astute of you. Your words almost wound me. Very well,' the voice replied. A calm reply. Sarcastic. Familiar. Way too familiar. 'Keep up the stubborn act if you must. Knowing what's in your best interest was never exactly your strong suit anyway,' he added with a subtle sneer.

This story takes place during the years 1890 - 1899. Welcome. I would love to take you on this character-driven journey with our beloved characters.

Did you also pause after what happened in Feltcroft, wanting to know the aftermath of Sebastian Sallow's decend into Darkness?

Did you also wonder if his friendship with Ominis could ever be mended or rebuild, knowing yóú and Ominis turned him in and condemned him to a life sentence in the most gruesome, horrific of all prisons, Azkaban? Did you feel regret, bad at all, or conflicted?

Well I certainly did.

And to make matters worse; opening Isidora's final Repository, instead of containing it, made me feel even more of a villain, since I literally took all the power and betrayed Sebastian for doing the same thing.

Moral dilemmas...

So here we are, at the beginning of the end. And the end of one story entails a new beginning. Knowing for a fact, no one in this fanfiction isn't anything but Morally Grey as all of their past choices eventually catch up and no one is exempt.

You can't lose your shadow. It sticks. It's always there and shall forever follow you around, in lockstep.

You can't escape fate. You can't escape your past. All choices you have made, will last.

Last but not least: In the past I updated more in a short time on another fanfic and that made me reconsider to work slowly. I like this story to build in a slower pace. So you can expect short to standard sized chapters (around 1000-5000), meticously planned and written with the end in mind. Sometimes I might be able to write faster, but why not enjoy this while it lasts? Hogwarts Legacy was and ís a great game, but my biggest take on that game is the rushed ending. That's why I'd rather work precise, slowly if needed and steady instead of fast and careless. Some chapters might be a lot slower paced, others quicker depending on (inter)action or dialogue etc.
