PRESENT TIME
9 February 2026
Jimin'S POV
They were chanting my name like it was mantra.
Well. My effect Hits harder than any drug.
".. Jimin! Jimin! Jimin!"
I didn't even look up.
My elbow was planted firmly on the sticky wooden table, fingers locked with some poor guy's hand whose biggest mistake tonight was thinking he stood a chance. Veins stood out on my forearm, muscles tight, barely straining. I could hear the crowd around us, drunk cheers, someone knocking over a glass, someone else yelling bets.
"C'mon, man, don't embarrass him like that!" someone laughed.
I smiled. Just a little, enough to tell victory.
The guy across from me was already sweating. His wrist trembled. Mine didn't move an inch.
"Three... two.. "
I slammed his hand down.
The table shook. Cheers exploded.
"Jimin!"
Someone whistled. Someone else slapped my back hard enough to bruise. I leaned back in my chair like I hadn't just ended a man's confidence in three seconds flat.
"Again! Again!"
"Guys enough"
I stood up, rolling my shoulder casually, already bored.
That's when it hit me.
I don't like staying where I'm not the main character.
I can't stand being background noise. So yeah... I usually take over without meaning to.

Time passed everyone left.
And right now, at my best friend's birthday party. A house party.
"I'm going, bye, Taehyung," I said, already halfway out of patience.
I had been trying to leave for the past two hours. Two. Whole. Hours.
But Taehyung... my best friend since high school, my coworker, and today's birthday idiot. refused to let me go.
"Stay here, it's my birthday after all," he said, pouring himself another drink like the party wasn't already dead.
Let me explain something.
Taehyung and I survived high school together, somehow ended up in the same company, and now work in the same building.. me as a software engineer, him as a data analyst. We see each other more than married couples do.
He is 27 tonight.
I'm only two months younger, but I look way better. That's just a fact.
All our friends had already left. The music had stopped. The snacks were gone. Even the balloons looked tired.
And there he was... face completely covered in cake. Yes, my work. White cream on his cheeks, nose, even in his hair. His black eyes were shining with happiness like a kid. His specs were resting on table which he always wear
Bitch is blind, that's why he wears specs.

Beside him sat his girlfriend, Sophia, gently wiping his face with tissues like he was made of glass.
Eww..
I looked away dramatically.
I really can't handle couples being romantic in front of me.
"This is final. I'm leaving. You enjoy your lovey-dovey night with your miss," I said, winking as I grabbed my phone and jacket.
Taehyung looked at me showing his middle finger and i smirked looking at him.
"Use for something else" and i left the room.
I checked the time.
1:00 AM.
"Shitttt."
My house was an hour away.
I could stay... but no. I wasn't about to be the third wheel on his birthday night.
Also, he has only one bedroom.
Yeah. Hard pass.
"I have to leave anyway," I muttered, walking toward the door.
Near the entrance there was mirror sticked, I stopped in front of the mirror.
And well...
"I see why all the girls were staring at me the whole time," I smirked.
My slightly wavy hair was still styled perfectly. Respect to my skills.
My eyes? Um.. no comments.
My jawline? Earned through sweat, pain, gym, and late-night regrets. But worth it.
Then my gaze fell on the scar on the right side of my forehead.
The mark from that accident three years ago.
For a second, my smile faded.
Then I fixed my red leather jacket. Okay, it was hot wearing it, but style comes first.
Girls say beauty is pain.
I believe them.
"Let's go, Jimin," I told myself, and walked out into the night.
I reached the parking lot, pulled my keys from my pocket, and unlocked my car.
I dropped into the driver's seat and shut the door with a tired sigh.
First thing I did? Turn on music.
Because seriously.. who doesn't listen to songs all the time?
If you don't... I'm sorry, but you're boring.
I played a Weekend song. He's my favorite artist, not gonna lie. I also listen to BTS sometimes. Sophia is a huge fan, and when she found out I love music, she basically forced me to check them out.
And damn... their songs are actually really catchy, even though I never used to listen to their music before.
I started driving toward my new house.
Yeah, new house. I shifted recently. It's actually Taehyung's old place, and I rented it from him. I know he wouldn't take money, but still. I live alone, but I'm picky. I need a house that feels right.
And I'm not even joking.. Taehyung stupidly rich.
I turned into a large alley.. wide enough for a car to pass through.
I hate this road. I pass through it every day, and every day it feels... off.
Then suddenly.. The car jerked And died.
FUCK MY LUCK.
The engine just gave up like it was tired of my existence.
I stared at the dashboard for a second before checking the time.
2:00 a.m.
"Fuck," I breathed.
I stepped out, opened the hood, stared at the engine like I knew anything, then closed it again.
Useless.
I checked my phone.
No signal.
"Great. Just great."
"I can't stay here," I muttered, looking around the empty alley.
Staying felt worse than walking, so I locked the car and started moving. My house was only fifteen minutes away, but my heartbeat was already faster than my steps.
While walking, my mind started running.
First thought? I really need a pet. I live alone and yeah... it gets lonely.
I looked around nervously.
"If someone kidnaps me right now, who's even going to tell my online friends?" I muttered.
Why am I joking in this situation?!
"Get a grip, Jimin," I told myself.
The alley was quiet.
Street lamps flickered above me, their weak yellow light barely pushing back the dark.
"Just get home," I whispered.
"Why does my life suddenly feel like a horror movie?" I kicked a small stone as I walked, both hands stuffed in my jacket pockets, eyes fixed on the road.
Then I saw it. Blood. Small drops scattered on the ground.
"I'm not following that," I whispered.
But my feet kept moving in the same direction.
That's when I heard it. A soft, painful sound.
"Meow..."

I turned.
Under a street lamp sat a black cat, licking his injured leg. Dark blood stained his fur. He looked up at me, and his eyes..
Bright yellow. Strangely beautiful.
"Oh... baby," I said without thinking as I crouched down. "What happened to you?"
My voice softened. I've always been the biggest animal lover.
I slowly patted his back, letting him know I wouldn't hurt him.
I'm honestly surprised he didn't run. He just stared at me.
I mean... yeah, I'm handsome, but even cats falling for me is a bit much.
"Wait, baby. I'll tie your wound," I said gently.
I took out my handkerchief and carefully wrapped it around his leg.
"It's okay," I murmured. "I've got you."
He made a low sound, almost like a tiny sigh.
I stood up, and he stayed right there.
I get attached way too fast. I met this cat two minutes ago and already don't want to leave him.
"Bye," I said softly, giving a small wave.
"Meow."
It sounded like he didn't want me to go.
I turned and started walking again. Then I heard footsteps. Soft ones.
I glanced back.
"You're following me?" I asked.
The cat kept walking behind me.
"All the way?" I huffed.
Still following.
When I reached my door, I finally gave up. I bent down and picked him up carefully.
"So... you chose me?" I smiled, tired but warm inside.
He settled against my chest like he belonged there.
"So cute. I always wanted a pet," I whispered.
"Alright then," I said softly. "Let me name you."
I looked into his glowing yellow eyes again.
"Min."
He licked my arm. And I don't know why... but that small touch made something feel strange inside me.
