The film studies major was one of the most prestigious majors in TWS university. You would have to be better than the professionals to even consider getting a look by the people who were approving who got in and who unfortunately already waited for an acceptance letter somewhere else.
Thankfully, Youngjae's endless grinding until 2am, multiple mental breakdowns, sleepless nights, ranting to his best friends paid all off because he didn't just get in, he was the most praised and the most loved by everyone in the approving committee.
Now already in his third year of trying to get his masters degree, he could say that he has learnt almost everything and nothing at the same time, because like his own words “nobody ever knows something 100%” so he never thought that he mastered everything about his major.
He loved to stay humble, to know his place and not to get into trouble even when it was sometimes the right thing to do. Maybe the university and the major was prestigious, but the professors were absolute bullshit. Youngjae hated that, he hated that more than the complicated relationship between his best friends - Dohoon and Junghwan. He wanted to fight the professors many times, to fight for justice, but he just couldn't blow his chances. He had spent every ounce of his existence getting into this university so he decided not to be bothered by the minor, or better said major problems his major had.
Well, speaking of his best friends - Dohoon and Junghwan. Complicated was the easiest thing to explain their dynamic. But if we were to go on a deeper level, like Youngjae would with Jihoon every weekend we would say that it's the most obvious yet fucking awful pairing ever.
Kim Dohoon, ever the flirtatious one, has poor little Junghwan wrapped around his finger. He controls Junghwan's emotions like he's playing with a ps5 console. Underneath all that cockiness is a soft side Youngjae discovered very early in their friendship, earlier than Junghwan even.
Yeah, surprising, Kim Dohoon has a soft side. Despite flirting with Junghwan 24/7, he actually does care about him a lot. He would kill for Junghwan and would die for Junghwan, it was a no brainer there, for him it would be like answering what's 2+2. And Youngjae discovered that side by accident when some group of jerks were talking behind Junghwan's back. Safe to say they never mentioned Junghwan in a negative way after that day. Because as Dohoon would gloat “i took care of them so they know not to mess with my love.” And that was one of the many things Youngjae loved, third wheeling Junghwan and Dohoon.
Well we can't say third wheeling just yet since the two weren't in a relationship yet, but even their professor knew they had feelings for eachother.
Now, speaking of the ever so oblivious Shin Junghwan. Dohoon could drop the dirtiest, most flirtatious thing around him, about him, and Junghwan would still look as clueless as a fly without its head.
Acting major, tall, blonde, handsome. Something every girl and a guy would want in their partner. And let's not forget that he's the kindest soul to ever exist. But no, he turns down everyone just because he's so hopelessly in love with Kim Dohoon. He can't even look Doboon in the eye properly, he fumbles under Dohoon's flirtatious look immediately.
Youngjae has been his free relationship advisor for many years. “Youngjae, I'm lost, he looked at me weirdly today” Junghwan would say in the most overly panicked voice known to this population and Youngjae would drop a deep exhausted sigh before looking at Junghwan with a look that meant you have 5 seconds before i drag myself off this damn chair and chase you out, and Junghwan would always read the signal and slowly leave Youngjae's and Jihoon's dorm room.
And finally speaking of Jihoon. Youngjae's beloved crush, his partner in crime and his absolute world. The same major, same room, same year, everything felt like it was fate between them. Even Jihoon joked once about that, but Youngjae just brushed it off sweetly while trying to remove the deep blush settling on his cheeks like it always belonged there.
Jihoon, a human sunshine. According to Youngjae his smile can heal multiple young and depressed souls, just like it healed my desperate soul. Youngjae's parents, Jihoon's parents, everyone in particular knew the two had a crush on eachother, everyone but the two.
And these 4 fools, each in their own way are best friends for God knows long. They would all give everything they owned to eachother. The most famous college friend group, two film studies majors and two acting majors.
