Work Text:
On the 4th floor of QSMP High, Tubbo and Pac emerged from the classroom, slightly exhausted and left on edge from presenting their presentations to the panelists.
"Aww man," Tubbo grumbles as the adrenaline leaves his system, "doing all that talking made me hungry." His stomach growls right on cue, proving his point.
Pac chuckles slightly. "Yeah, same here! It was definitely nerve-racking." Their group just finished presenting their research in the category. Pac, Fit, and Tubbo were picked to be the presenters for their group (lucky them.) They did not have much of a choice since they couldn't convince the others to take their place. However, the incentives were particularly tempting, to say the least; participating can guarantee a perfect score in performance and exams with the addition of bragging rights.
As soon as the presentation started, disaster struck: Pac stumbled over his words, Fit improvised his way without making it too obvious that he forgot his script, and they had encountered multiple technical difficulties. Thankfully they had Tubbo, who did most of the talking, and the other two did not want to slack off. They redeem themselves when the panelists asked them about their topic. In which they did quite well.
Pac lets out an embarrassed sigh when the memory still feels fresh in his mind, but that did not stop him from being optimistic, curving his lips into a smile. "Embarrassing on my part, but you were so cool! You carried us all the way!"
Tubbo is slightly bashful. "Aww, thanks, but it wasn't just me who did the work, yknow? We did it as a group!" He grins, full of pride that they managed to pull it off during the presentation. His stomach, making itself known, growls. Reminding him to eat. "Ugh... but seriously, when can we go to McDonald's?"
"After Philza's group finished theirs, which it should start by now." Pac checks his phone to make sure he was right before playfully nudging Tubbo. "Besides, we can buy something in the cafeteria for a snack; we can't just leave without Phil and yknow..." He hopes Tubbo did not catch what he was implying.
"Yeah, yeah, we still need to find your crush, I know." Tubbo made a small gagging sound like he was going to throw up for a bit. He makes whenever he sees the two flirting to oblivion but still calls themselves roommates. "But seriously, are you going to do it?"
"Do what?" Pac acts like he doesn't know what Tubbo was saying which made the other boy look at him like he was stupid. "Confess, I mean Its so obvious he likes you too! Like come on, everyone knows?" Tubbo used his hands around to make a point with each word.
Pac chuckles, dragging out the words, "Maybe? I'll do it when It feels like it's time." Tubbo seems to be satisfied with his answer to let the subject go.
A little later, Tubbo went to the cafeteria. Leaving Pac by himself to walk into the crowded halls, he didn't mind. Nervous murmurs filled the corridors, standing in front of posters plastered on the walls with each has its own topic and unique design. He would stop to read each one to fully appreciate the thought put into every work. But something about the posters pulled him into a trance. Maybe he was reminiscing about the countless sleepless nights to do what they did, but it wasn't long before that train of thought was abruptly interrupted by bumping into someone. Skittish as he is, he immediately tried to step back but the other person interpreted it as him falling and made sure to hold onto Pac's arm. Firm but not too tight, pulling him closer to the person's chest. "Easy there, Pac. Easy." A raspy voice spoke with gentle concern tone that felt illegal hear. "Are you alright?"
"Uh, yeah, yeah. I'm fine, I'm fine. Sorry about... that." His voice got stuck in his throat when he realized who it was. It was FitMc, his long time crush. It was embarrassing enough to bump into someone, yet somehow he managed to do it to Fit. His hazel brown eyes were entirely fixed on him, he can see the concern within them. If Pac had the chance to keep staring at those eyes, he would do it forever... "Hi Fit!" His voice cracked. "I didn't see you there. So sorry about that. " He physically cringed at how nervous his voice was that had to glance away to keep his cool.
"No worries, Pac its all good." Fit curves his lips into a soft grin. "Say, Are we heading out soon? Philza told me they are finally done with their part."
"Really? Then lets get going!" Pac exhales a breath he was holding as he grins brightly.
A little later, in the parking lot. They are discussing where to celebrate and they opted for McDonald's. (It was the closest) They were going to split since Pac has a motorcycle and the rest doesn’t. And were going to use public transport to get there but Tubbo and Philza was determined to get them together which ked to the suggestion. "Pac, why won't you let Fit come along with you?"
Pac froze a little but he wasn't against the idea. "Fine by me but its up to Fit if he wants to?" He kept his cool despite begging and panicking in his mind.
"Sure, lets do that." Fit smiled. It was a win in Pac's book. "Sweet, get on." Pac stabilizes the motorcycle before Fit sat behind him. They went ahead. Fit seems to be enjoying himself during the ride, his hand on Pac's waist and the other on his shoulder, which made the brunette man WEAKK. They talked about random things and making sure Fit was alright. When the road gets bumpy, Fit's hold on him tightens slightly, holding him like he was his anchor from the moving vehicle, it felt intimate and slow despite the speed they were going.
When they got there, they were way ahead of Philza and Tubbo. Making them alone at their booth, continuing their conversation from earlier, Pac could not help but admire the other as they spoke.
It felt intimate and a perfect opportunity to confess but he kept failing to say it. And simply waited for the other two. Despite not being able to confess, he achieved something, being close to Fit. It felt domesticated and peaceful, the feeling lasting for 10 minutes before the other two arrived.
The two asked him about it, Pac shakes his head. Telling them he still hasn't done it. They didn't push and they ordered food. "Guys, do you want to play billiards later? Its going to be fun! I'll ask Bagi and Tina if to tag along. They agreed to go with the plan with Pac inviting Mike too. I mean what could go wrong?
A lot of things. Pac kept making the ball jump from the table and Tubbo barely scores any. While Philza and Fit has a bit more experience about the game.
To make things fair between them, they decided to make it as a duo match to balance the talent out. Which Philza took the advantage to make Fit and Pac duo.
Pool table A: Bagi, Tina, and Mike
Pool Table B: Philza, Fit, Tubbo and Pac
Pac wouldn't say he was THAT bad but he kept quiet about it. Why? Fit taught him patiently, their hands touching to teach him a way to support the cue stick, gently nudging his hand to the angle he needed to hit the ball. Sometimes he felt Fit placed his hands on his waist to move him entirely, he might be getting manhandled but he didn't mind if it makes his crush closer to him. Everytime it was his turn, he has his full attention and it makes his heart flutter even more. Because of this, Tubbo kept acting like he was disgusted by the display or ignoring the two entirely. Philza on the other hand, just wanted to play the game and beat the two 'friends' despite the closet being made out of glass.
Pac would get teased by Tubbo when it wasn't their turn to play, and would just watch the other two compete. "Are you sure you aren't together with Fit??? Because it very much looks like it.. Too much PDA (public display of affection), man.." Making Pac smile helplessly, bringing his voice into a whisper, "I mean hopefully after this..?"
"You're so swoon, Pac." Tubbo sighs, hitting him lightly on the arm. "Can you blame me? I mean look at him." Pac gestures to Fit concentrating on the ball so much it looks very cool on his book. "Isn't he cool??" Pac's reactions left Tubbo to respond with a chuckle.
20 minutes in the game, maybe more. It was a sweaty games and ironically, Pac was carrying their team by scoring more. He can't help but be proud of himself and Fit was proud of him too. He saw him smiling so softly at him, and he swears he thought Fit was looking at him like he was the only person in the world which made his heart melt at the thought, and oh how much he would pay to stay in this moment forever but at last, it cannot.
The group was getting ready to leave but Pac still hasn't done what he had planned to do, and he felt Fit leaving in a hurry which matching the pace of their other friends but he can't leave just yet. He walks up to Fit, trying to speak as normally as he can. "Fit," Fit stops what he was doing, "yeah Pac?"
"Can you stay for a bit? I have some fofoca (gossip) to share." Pac covers his shaky voice with playfulness. "Fofoca? I'm down. Who is it about?" Fit grinned as he whispered like they were spies. It made Pac laugh at his antics, playing along, "we got to wait for everyone to leave or it won't be a secret.."
What used to feel like seconds turned into hours, but as his heart thumps harder and harder, he pulled his gaze away to rummage his bag before he loses the courage to continue his plan. He took a deep breath, despite the shakiness, he handed the gift made to the person he loves so deeply to risk it all. "Here’s the fofoca, Fit."
"It's my last gift before the school year ends." Pac laughed at himself, unable to meet the eyes of the man, feeling more embarrassed as the seconds passes by without a word from the other man, He had a lot that he wanted to say but when he finally had the courage to look at him eye to eye. Every thought vanished, all the second guessing, practiced speech and scenarios in his head, gone. With one goal remained true and its all he could manage to say in a soft tone "Gosto de você.."
The urge to get out became more apparent as realization on what he finally did sets in after weeks of trying to find this very opportunity. He grabs his bag and walks towards the door to leave the place fast, he can't handle what would Fit react to his confession. "Uh, bye Fitchy!" His shaky voice, fills the quiet space as he heads towards the door.
Fit finally snapped out of his momentarily daze and responded to Pac's confession with "Pac, wait!" Holding his arm to stop him from walking away, he saw the other man glance back, eyes widened with faint red dusting his cheeks. Shocked that Fit was still willing to talk to him despite knowing the truth about his feelings.
Pac's expression makes Fit smile softly before pulling him in closer slowly as if he was afraid that if he pulled any faster he would wake up from a dream, and placed a kiss on the crown of the other's black hair. "I'm not good with words. But.. eu também gosto de você. (I like you too.)"
It was a clumsy response yet it carried the softness of Fit's voice that contradicts his usual stoic and hoarse voice to a volume for just the two of them can only hear. Pac can hear the slight struggle with the words in Portuguese but it never failed to make his heart flutter. "Gosta de mim.. Também? (You like me.. Too?)" Hesitation in his voice, he was sure that his feelings won't be returned but now..
"Sim, Pac. I do. I really do.. (Yes, Pac.)" Fit gently held his face on both hands, using his thumb to brush the other's cheek. Slowly they brought their foreheads together. It wasn't the kiss Pac expected but nonetheless, he loved it, every second they spent together in this moment. He can't stop smiling, he was just so happy that Fit felt the same way.
