Work Text:
He's unstable. Victoria had known it before their sessions even began. His psychiatric report was like Freud wet dream. It had been a mistake to open up about her own issues with her mother to him. She saw that now.
She had been trying to build trust. Pope had latched onto it. He'd latched onto her. Every time she tried to put a professional barrier in place he spiralled.
He'd flip from rage to sad at what he perceived as rejection. It scared her. Enough that she'd back track to the point she could placate and calm him down.
It was understandable. Everyone in her profession would say when dealing with a member of the Cody family it wiser to placate than to rile them.
They'd be less understanding that sometimes she allowed Pope to lay in her bed. There were times when Victoria pretended to sleep, allowing him to be gone by morning.
Then were nights like tonight were she ran her fingers through his hair to calm him down. Soothe him until he wasn't a danger to himself or others.
Those visits were becoming more frequent. She should tell someone. Victoria should have the first time it happened.
