Work Text:
Maple and Unter both got anxious sometimes. Usually, Parkmo was the one to calm them down. It usually took different methods for both.
Maple’s type of anxiety was one he denied. It was like a little pest that dragged him down. He hated the feeling and hated acknowledging it. Parkmo learned that very early on in their friendship.
Water and sitting or laying down usually helped him. Distractions, as well.
Parkmo wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but years of experience helped him notice Maple's fatigue much faster than others. He or Ggumong usually casually handed him water, and Parkmo (sometimes Ggumong, if it were bad), sat down with him. Maple tended to stay quiet in these moments. Thankfully, no one in their friend group really went out to big events much with too many people, and it seemed Maple's anxiety spiked only around unfamiliar people (besides a few exceptions).
They usually happened in the mornings or afternoon.
It was a different case with Unter.
It almost always happened at night, usually in the middle of it.
The doctor had said Unter had a mild case of panic disorder with nocturnal attacks.
The first time Unter called Parkmo during one was around 4 a.m. It was a night that Unter spent hours streaming then chatting with friends much later into the night than he usually did. He told Parkmo later he went to sleep at around 1 a.m.
Parkmo had woken up to the ringing of his phone. He checked 3 missed calls, all from Unter, around 10 minutes apart. Even through the phone, Parkmo could still remember hearing the frantic, ragged breathing of Unter.
Parkmo drove to Unter's whenever he could, holding him or pressing something cold against him. The 5-4-3-2-1 method worked sometimes, too. When he couldn't make it, he ordered Unter to get either his yongyong plush or his green Doraemon or both of them and breathe with Parkmo through the phone. Sometimes, they tried everything above.
Parkmo didn't mind at all. He thinks Unter feels sorry for it though. He apologized many times.
He's not sure exactly how Maple feels, but Parkmo thinks he appreciates it. Maple certainly felt a lot better after.
