Alastor sighed softly as he carefully drew his sigils around the pentagram on the floor. He’d finally gotten to be alone after convincing Vincent that he was really better after Lucifer had visited. He looked over the sigils and took a small step back as he rolled his shoulders.
“Alright,” he said out loud. “Let’s see who comes up, shall we?” He took a breath before he spoke again. “Demons of Hell, I call upon you to join me in my humble abode. Come to me as I offer up my soul for your services.” He smiled when the blood started bubbling a little before it fizzed and smoked. He would just get a little security for himself for when he died. Then he’d be free to just enjoy what time he had left. A portal appeared and a figure stepped through in a huff. And it was Lucifer.
“Damn it, Alastor!” Lucifer snapped. “I told you to leave me alone!”
“I didn’t call for you,” Alastor said quickly.
“Really?” Lucifer gestured to himself. “Then what is this?” Alastor scoffed and gestured to one of the sigils on the floor.
“See this? Demon. It means demon. Inverted it means devil, and it’s not inverted,” Alastor insisted. “You’re the one who decided to answer me instead of letting someone else take the call. I wasn’t wanting to see you either.” Lucifer narrowed his eyes as he crossed his arms.
“I’m not playing games with you, Alastor,” Lucifer scolded. “I’m supposed to be spending time with my daughter soon. And we are done.”
“Then go so I can redo my summoning and get a demon that I actually want to talk to,” Alastor said firmly. Lucifer let out a frustrated noise and stepped back through his portal before it vanished from the air. Alastor rubbed his forehead. He hadn’t expected Lucifer, and now he had to redo the entire spell just to see if someone else would show up. He went to grab another bowl to put blood into, perking up when he spotted a little bundle of red cloth that was playing with one of the other bowls. He tilted his head slightly when a head of blonde hair popped up and looked at him curiously. It was a little girl, and she looked just like Lucifer’s daughter.
“Oh, boy,” Alastor said to himself. “Hi, little one.” He knelt down as she looked at him curiously. “How’d you get here?”
“I go after Daddy!” she squealed. Alastor smiled at that. Apparently she’d crawled through the portal when they were talking, so neither of them had noticed her.
“Well, he’ll be back for you soon enough,” Alastor admitted. “Why don’t we find something more fun to play with, hm? These bowls are boring.” He chuckled and held his hand out to her. She stumbled over to him and took his hand with both of hers. He scooped her up in his arms and brushed her bangs from her face. “You really are a cute little lady, aren’t you?” She reached up and pulled his glasses from his face, waving them around as he blinked a few times.
“Play! Play!” she exclaimed.
“Alright, alright,” Alastor chuckled. “You’ll be a little handful, won’t you?”
Lucifer scrambled around the room, yanking covers off the bed as he tried to find Charlie. He couldn’t believe he’d lost her. Lilith had finally let them have some time together. He even went to see when she’d bring Charlie to him, and then he’d found out that she’d been dropped off already at some point. And now, he couldn’t find her.
“Charlie, come on out, sweetie,” Lucifer said, trying not to sound panicked. “I know you like to play hide and seek, but this is not the time, honey.” He looked under the bed and ran his hand over his face. “Charlie, please come out.” He frowned when he saw no sign of his daughter. He thought about where she could have possibly gone.
“Okay,” he said to himself. “Lil dropped her off a few hours ago. I was in here, making the place ready so that we could have a fun time together. And…Alastor summoned me or someone and I answered-“ He stopped himself. “Oh, no.” He quickly made a portal to Alastor’s home and stepped through it. She couldn’t have followed him to Earth, right? Alastor stepped out of his bedroom, leaving the door partially open. He blinked when he saw Lucifer.
“Back again?” Alastor questioned.
“My daughter is missing,” Lucifer blurted out. “The last thing I did was come here, and I just want to make sure she’s not somewhere in your house or something.” He felt like he might pass out as his breathing quickened. “I’m a fucking dead man. My one time to make amends with Lilith so that we can stay together as a family, and I lose my daughter.”
“Lu, breathe,” Alastor said quickly.
“Fuck you,” Lucifer snapped. “You have no idea how scared I am. She could be lost! She could be hurt! She could-“ Alastor put his hand over Lucifer’s mouth.
“You’ll wake her up,” Alastor scolded. Lucifer tilted his head as he let out a curious noise. Alastor gestured for him to follow as he went to the bedroom, pushing the door open a bit more. Lucifer peeked in to see Charlie was sound asleep on the bed with a small blanket draped over her.
“Oh, she’s okay,” Lucifer sighed with relief. He looked at Alastor. “You took care of her?”
“I didn’t have a choice,” Alastor pointed out, chuckling softly. “We used some of my ritual tools to make a nice picture for you.” He went over to the nightstand and picked up the paper that was sitting on it, holding it up for Lucifer. Charlie had made a picture of several demons alongside Lilith and Lucifer together under a rainbow.
“She’s just like her mother,” Lucifer smiled as he took the picture for himself. He looked at Charlie as she slept and went over to kiss her forehead. “I’d better get her back before Lilith finds out I lost her.”
“Oh, let her sleep,” Alastor waved it off. “She tuckered herself out. She’s quite the bundle of energy, Lu.” He pulled Lucifer out of the room. “She nearly broke my glasses twice today.”
“She gets a little…zealous when she plays,” Lucifer said carefully. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do this.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Alastor insisted. “It was nice to meet her. She seems to like me despite me being a stranger.”
“She’s a trusting soul,” Lucifer shrugged slightly. He went quiet and stood awkwardly next to Alastor. “Thank you again. I mean that. The last thing I want is for her to get hurt because of me.” Alastor nodded.
“Unca Allie?” Charlie’s sleepy voice made them both perk up. Alastor went into the bedroom and found that Charlie was sitting up and rubbing her eyes. He smiled at her. She held her arms up. He scooped her up and carried her out of the room. She perked up when she saw Lucifer. “Daddy!”
“Hi, sweetheart,” Lucifer said as he took her from Alastor. “Did you have fun?” She nodded eagerly. “Maybe we’ll come back sometime. But right now, I’ve gotta get you home. And let’s keep this a secret between us for now, okay?” Charlie tilted her head and looked at Alastor, who put a finger to his lips as he smiled. She put her finger to her lips too and giggled.
“Be good for your Papa,” Alastor encouraged.
