They say that your first kiss with your soulmate is supposed to bring a feeling of completion. But that just isn’t true. Instead, it makes you feel more.
More loving and more loved.
It’s like the twin stars that orbit each other in space. They don’t do it by happen-chance, it is because without each other they would literally fall apart. They aren’t meant to be one but they are meant to be together.
It isn’t completion, just a shared connection. They are pulled to each other through the gravity of love. The literal stars of each other’s lives.
And the first time that Cole and Geo ever kissed was exactly that. A feeling of true connection.
Cole was digging through a batch of newspapers and magazines that he and the rest of the Finders had found while scavenging in the latest drop of lost items here in the land of lost things.
Cole had promised to stay with the Finders, and that was a promise he was determined to keep, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to look for updates on his friends. His family, the ninja.
It had been two years since the event that the papers had called The Merge, and so far nothing has been heard involving the ninja. Until today. A memorial had been set up to honor the ninja.
Cole didn’t want to believe that the rest of them were dead. He was alive and yet he was going to be included in the memorial because the rest of the world hadn’t seen him this whole time. So he had to hold out hope that they were all out there too. Living out happy lives, just like he was. Selfishly.
Cole let out a heavy sigh and tossed the newspaper he was holding into the pile. Geo came up behind him, wrapping his arms around Cole in a loose hug.
Cole and Geo had been in an official relationship for a little over a week now, and Geo always seemed to know when Cole needed him. “Everything alright?”
“They’re setting up a memorial for the ninja. In an area where Ninjago once stood.” Cole explained leaning into the hug. Geo tightened his hold, waiting quietly for his boyfriend to continue. “They’re all so strong, but I guess I’m just worried.” Cole paused, taking a deep breath. “Worried that something might have happened to them. That I’m the only one left.”
Geo moved so he was now fully facing Cole instead of behind him. “Look at me. I understand that feeling, believe me I really do. When I arrived here my people were enslaved for crying out loud. But from everything you’ve told me, from everything I have ever learned about these people I know that they aren’t ones to be taken down easily. You showed up here falling from the sky and instantly popped back up ready for a fight. If the other ninja are even a fraction of the warriors you’ve described them as, they’ll manage perfectly fine.”
Cole smiled at Geo, staring into those kind amber eyes that could never hurt him. The eyes that only ever made him feel safe and happy, even at his lowest moments.
Cole isn’t sure what came over him. It was all spur of the moment honestly. But Cole reached out his hands, cupping Geo’s face, and pulled him in.
The kiss was brilliant. Cole could feel his heart pounding in his chest and yet it felt so light. So free.
Geo’s hug around Cole tightened as he leaned into the kiss as well. The tusks made it a bit hard but honestly Cole didn’t mind. He loved every part of his boyfriend, tusks and all.
When Cole eventually pulled away, reality finally caught up to him as the pure ecstasy faded away.
“Oh first master, Geo I am so sorry. I should have asked.” Cole hurried to apologize. He really shouldn't have done that without asking first.
Geo just stared for a long a moment, his purple skin starting to lean a bit more red. He opened and closed his mouth a few times before saying, “No, no, don’t apologize. I liked it.”
If Cole wasn’t already blushing – which he probably was – he definitely was now.
“Really?” Cole practically squeaked out. It made him so happy to hear, but the nerves had already set in.
Geo nodded sincerely but also shrugged lightly, “Maybe not in this moment in particular, but just in general yeah.”
Cole was struggling to find the right words to say, so he settled on just smiling at earnestly as he could.
“Do you mind if we do it again?” Geo asked, his eyes flicking away shyly as he did. Cole didn’t respond with his words, he responded by leaning in.
The worries of before had been forgotten, replaced by the pure delight he felt in this moment. Cole would have to confront those feelings some other time, but right now it was just him and Geo. Two stars pulling each other in to hold each other together with their love for one another.
