Chapter Text
This elective lecture was bordering on useless. Chishiya had carefully selected all of his other modules through the years but he had been forced into a semester focusing on a bunch of psychology stuff by his studies advisor. Solely because he couldn't work with children and their family without the proper training. He was sure Doctor Shinomiya had complained about his bedside manners. He could talk all he wanted, he was worse than him, Chishiya was only taking his example.
But this meant that he found himself with a few of his modules this semester on childhood psychology, forced to hang out with a cohort of psychology majors which he had not interest talking to.
And their professors were as boring. Their points were too easy to understand. Surely it didn't need an university degree to understand what confirmation bias was? It seemed so straight forward to Chishiya.
Nevertheless for peace of mind he dutifully took notes for all the lectures he had to attend.
Not everyone was as conscientious as him, that was for sure.
In each lecture, the same guy sat one row in front of Chishiya. He had unkempt dark brown hair, strand spiking in every direction like the concept of a hairbrush was completely foreign to him. For someone who took great care in his appearance like Chishiya - you wouldn't want to scare off the parents by looking grubby, or the children by looking too serious - this student was just a loser who would never get anything out of life. Even less once Chishiya had noticed that he didn't take any notes, spending each lecture on his phone playing some stupid online game. Yet no professor ever called him out on it.
"Sir, I don't think that was what Freud meant by…" a student started after raising her hand, not even waiting for their professor to turn back to allow her to speak.
Chishiya sighed in annoyance.
"This is not a psychoanalysis course, Miss Arada. Try to keep your bedside readings for yourself," professor Matsuyama cut coldly before coming back to his demonstration.
"He won't fall for your brain if you haven't got one," Chishiya muttered as he kept writing.
He felt the mop of hair that sat in front of him turn around, glancing at him with a quirked brow and a cold stare.
"What?" Chishiya mouthed. "Don't tell me you're falling for it," he added with a smirk.
"Please shut up," the other snarled before turning back.
He shrugged before listening again to the lecture. Basic fact after basic fact.
At the end of the lecture Chishiya quickly gathered his stuff, shoving everything in his cross-body bag before making a move to leave. But a hand grabbed his arm and shoved him back, forcing him to sit back in the uncomfortable auditorium seat.
"Arada is a psychoanalysis major. Top of her cohort. She ain't trying to prove her brain to Matsuyama, dickhead," mop head snarled as he wrangled his fist in Chishiya's shirt, pushing him back further in his seat. "But you wouldn't know anything about her, or anyone in this class because you come here, make your snarky comments like you're above all of us and then go back to wherever the fuck you think you belong."
He leaned forward, his breath hot against Chishiya's face as his eyes were full of anger.
"So you have a crush on her then," Chishiya mused, a smirk on his face. His bag fell on the floor on his side with a thud.
"Of course not, I just can't stand your smugness. Stupid med students, all the same," he growled.
He then let go of Chishiya's shirt but didn't retreat from his personal space.
"You better shut up next time, I'm not letting you insult my friends because you've been taught that you're better than us."
"But what if I am?" Chishiya grinned, standing taller in his seat, making the other retreat back.
Mop head humphed in irritation.
Chishiya went for the final blow to take back the control of whatever this guy thought he was doing to him by impeding on his personal space.
He poked his index in his chest, delicately pushing back, the other letting himself unconsciously, too taken aback by the sudden contact.
"Let's make a bet, hm? If I can beat you at all the electives we have in common, then you'll have to say it, medical students are better than you," Chishiya announced.
"And if I win?" mop head asked with a quirked brow.
"Not happening so no point imagining it," he answered as he pushed past him, reaching down for his bag and leaving promptly.
Chishiya learned two days later that mop head's actual name was Arisu and that he was majoring in developmental psychology. But that didn't change his plans at wanting to crush the academic smirk away from his face. On the contrary, beating someone at what he was supposed to be specialised in seemed even more entrancing. He had a new found glee each time he opened his elective notes, a vicious need to wreck Arisu taking over.
However Chishiya kept remembering the visible lack of interest the other man showed during the lectures, playing on his phone and snickering with some of his friends quietly from time to time. Surely the asshole would not have entered a bet if he was failing his course and didn't give a shit about it. It was an assured defeat and even though Chishiya knew little about gamers of the likes of Arisu, he knew they were not the kind to enter a game without knowing where their strengths were standing.
So he needed to find out more about his opponent. He felt like he was already going through more trouble that this whole ordeal was worth but the excitement he felt when opening his notes to study was unmatched. Who could have told Chishiya at the beginning of the semester that these boring-ass electives were now what he was looking forward the most?
Anyway.
Chishiya found himself standing outside of one of the admin offices of the psychology department at an early 8am. He didn't want any of his potential classmates to see him checking the past years exam results so he came early to be alone.
But luck was not on his side today as he opened the door just to be face to face with Arisu, his hair even messier than usual, brown strands curving around an aggressive-looking, overly intricate black headset as he was sitting behind the admin desk, reviewing papers.
Chishiya blinked a few times, his hand still on the door handle.
"Morning, med stud'," Arisu mumbled glancing at him for a second before going back to his paper. "Please close the door, the insulation is shit in this part of the building."
"What are you doing here? Need to catch up on the notes you didn't take?" Chishiya snarked.
He glanced around the room, looking at the various file cabinets filled to the brim, each with a year tag carefully stuck sideway on each glass door.
"Nah. What I am doing doesn't concern you," Arisu answered calmly, still focusing on the sheet on front of him, taking a few notes in a notebook on the side. "And you? What brings you to the madhouse of the psychology department?"
"Gathering intel."
He had been caught right in the lion's den, Chishiya might as well give his enemy a semblance of honesty to better throw him off later.
He managed to restrain his surprise when Arisu chuckled at his answer, a tired smile spreading on his lips.
"Go at it."
Chishiya pushed his cross-body bag behind his lower back and moved towards the cabinets, immediately counting the years until he came to what he guessed to be Arisu's first year at university. Opening the glass door, he searched for the first year modules and picked a few at random.
Behind him, he heard the scraping of a chair and turned back to see that Arisu had grabbed a second chair to place it near his next to the desk. He then went back to his paper as if nothing had happened.
Chishiya hesitated for a second, trying to give the illusion that he was just taking his sweet time to close the cabinet door again. If he avoided sitting next to Arisu he made it clear that his proximity was uncomfortable and there was no way he was going to acknowledge that. Better to take the bait and turn it to his advantage.
He dropped in the seat next to Arisu, setting his bag on the floor loudly and spreading the exam papers he had found so the other man would not know exactly what he was looking for.
Chishiya allowed himself a glance at the papers Arisu was reviewing, past exams for foundational statistics for psychometrics. One class Chishiya was glad he didn't have, if the amount of statistical analysis he could see was anything to go by.
He turned his attention to the papers he had selected for himself and started reviewing the names, searching for Arisu's with composed movements.
Well, Chishiya tried to pay attention to them.
But he could hear the bass of Arisu's music pulsing through his headset, the occasional scratching of his pen in his notebook, his humming along the music. The most annoying was surely Arisu's leg bouncing against his. Whether he did it out of habit or nervousness, Chishiya couldn't say but it was definitively getting on his nerves.
The friction against his trousers was uncomfortable. And was Arisu really not aware that he was touching him? Or did he do it on purpose to distract him? They haven't even started their bet properly and he was already using sly approaches to try to make Chishiya lose his patience. But he wasn't about to let this mop head get his way.
Chishiya curled his hand above the bouncing thigh and gripped it, forcing it to stay still.
"What are you doing?!" Arisu snapped, tugging his headset away from his ears. He stared at Chishiya who focused on the papers in front of him.
The music grew louder, no longer quietened by the other man head.
"Your leg. It was annoying," Chishiya explained nonchalantly.
He kept skimming through the exam papers with one hand, the other still on Arisu's leg. Finally he found Arisu's paper and set it apart, quickly scanning the grading professor's comments.
Arisu waited a few more seconds before groaning in frustration.
"Can you let go of my thigh now?"
"Why? Does it bother you?" Chishiya asked as he kept reading, not allowing himself a glance towards Arisu.
The other humphed in annoyance, turned a page of his paper and went back to writing.
Chishiya let his hand there, his grip relaxing a little, no longer squeezing the thigh underneath, simply resting on top of it.
Arisu's paper in his hand had a top grade, the comment from the professor were sickeningly flattering. Maybe it was just luck.
Chishiya moved onto a second pile of papers for a different module, searching once again for Arisu's name.
When he found another maximum grade with flowery comments, his fingers clenched on Arisu's thigh again, this time involuntarily. Not luck then. His nails sank in frustration into the fabric of Arisu's trousers and Chishiya heard him gasp.
The music coming out of Arisu's headset was overwhelmingly loud in the otherwise heavy silence between the two men as they finally looked at each other, eyes full of irritation but also something else that Chishiya could not name.
"Get your hand away from my leg. Now."
"Or what?" Chishiya taunted, driving his nails further in the fabric, feeling Arisu's supple skin dig in as well underneath.
The other man exhaled sharply, his hand coming instantly over Chishiya's to remove it in one rough motion.
"Stop it, asshole," Arisu muttered through gritted teeth.
Chishiya smirked, jerking his hand away from Arisu's. He gathered the various exam papers and piled them.
Arisu glanced at him one more time, rolling his eyes in irritation before looking back at his own notes.
Chishiya stood up from his seat, making sure to lean towards Arisu before going back to the file cabinets, their knees brushing against each other. He heard Arisu sigh as he put the papers back in their course files. He closet the glass door, moved over to the next one, his breath purposefully heavy over Arisu's nape before turning back again and choosing a few second year module papers at random. He then sat back again, his knees once more scraping against the other man's.
Arisu dropped his pen and slammed his hand flat over Chishiya's papers.
"Are you fucking done?" Don't think I don't know what you're doing," he growled.
"And pray tell, what am I doing?" Chishiya asked with a smirk.
He had got under his skin. He had won for today, now he could enjoy his success.
"Harassing me at work," he answered coldly.
Chishiya blinked twice, his hands frozen over his papers, waiting for the rest.
"Now listen, med stud'. Either you read your second year papers nicely and we pretend you're not solely checking my grades, or you keep being a pain in my ass and I'll have to explain it to you differently," Arisu said with a falsely sweet tone that Chishiya only knew too well from spending time with underpaid nurses.
"Fine," he shrugged, pulling the papers away from below Arisu's hand.
Arisu took his pen back in his hand, did a swift trick with it above his fingers and put back his headset over his ears.
"Asshole," Chishiya muttered once the other had started writing again.
"Heard that."
They kept on working in relative silence for several minutes, Chishiya sighing in frustration at each "Perfect!" "Very good analysis!" on Arisu's past papers and the other man obliviously humming to his music without care.
Chishiya was getting annoyed again at his behaviour. He was about to abruptly let go of the papers on the desk to show his irritation when Arisu's thigh brushed against his.
Not the annoying bouncing of earlier.
A soft pressure against his skin that made the entire zone of contact felt like a burn.
He forced himself to keep his movements as natural as possible, stacking the papers for one module together before starting to look at the next pile.
Arisu's thigh stayed like that against his, shifting so slowly that Chishiya felt his heart beating louder in his ears than the other man's stupid music. He flattened the papers against the desk with the palm of his hand, breathing deeply to force his focus back on it. It was just a tactic to annoy him, just like he had done it himself earlier.
But as he was skimming through the pages, searching for Arisu's name again, he felt fingers grazing the top of his thigh in a feather light touch. He jerked away, pushing his chair back.
"What the fuck dude?!"
"Payback," Arisu said, removing and turning off his headset with calm. "Don't bother pretending, your reading pace has slowed down since my leg touched yours a minute ago."
Chishiya snorted nervously.
"You know my reading pace? What kind of creep are you?"
"The kind who knows his enemy, unlike you it seems."
"I've never seen you read before today, I wasn't sure you knew how to," Chishiya mocked but his smirk quickly dissolved when Arisu's hand forcefully palmed his thigh, not dissimilarly to Chishiya's earlier way.
"I'll give you a quick lesson then, so you know the basics about who you blindly engaged to face in this fight," Arisu said in a low voice.
He turned his chair to fully face Chishiya, leaning close to him. His hand on his thigh wandered higher, the pads of his fingers sending electric waves through the fabric of Chishiya's trousers. He felt a dull heat growing in him, a pull in his boxers as his cock hardened at the touch that was drawing closer. Fuck. He wanted his hand to stop wandering around already and get to his arousal. But voicing it would be admitting defeat in this strange performance he found himself involved in now.
"You've read my grades for first and second year, let me give you a run down of my third year as I suppose that was your next target," Arisu whispered.
Arisu's fingers grazed against Chishiya's stomach where his sitting position made his thighs and lean stomach touch. He inhaled sharply as the digits poked in his skin through his t-shirt firmly.
So," he started in a quiet voice, "Biological Psychology, 96."
Arisu flattened his hand against Chishiya's stomach, his index slowly stroking over the fabric. His other hand came to rest on his knee, making him lean closer to Chishiya who no longer tried to back away in his chair but instead fighting against himself at his need to chase the other man's touch.
Arisu's pinky then curled and slipped under Chishiya's t-shirt, making him shiver at the touch. Arisu smirked, watching him close his eyes for a second as he savoured the touch against his will. God, it felt burning against his bare skin. He wanted more, he wanted it to stop.
"Applied Cognition, 97."
The rest of his hand disappeared under the t-shirt, exploring the tender skin of Chishiya's stomach. He felt his entire body shiver at the touch, goose bumps spreading on his arms.
"The professor commented something along the lines of "Arisu shows great capacity to explain how cognitive processes impact real-life situations", what do you think of it?" Arisu whispered in Chishiya's ear.
Chishiya heard him take a full breath, his face still too close to his ear and hair. Was he smelling him?! Surely not?!
But before he could protest Arisu's other hand started to roam his thighs as well, nails digging in from time to time as a mirror of Chishiya's actions.
"You're an asshole," Chishiya said, but his words were coming out laboured.
"Yeah, you said that already," he chuckled, a smirk painted on his face. "Are all med students only able to repeat themselves over and over or is it just you?"
His nails sank right at the top of Chishiya's thigh, earning a loud gasp making Chishiya grasp his arm in surprise. The bastard.
Arisu tutted at the movement. He removed his hand from his stomach, uncurling Chishiya's fingers from his arm and putting the hand back on the armrest of the chair, a final press with his palm to indicate to keep there or else. Chishiya kind of wanted to know what that silence threat entailed but was too scared of losing the contact of Arisu's hand on his thigh. He had already used a lot of restraint not to whimper at the loss of contact when he had let go of his touch on his stomach, it was pathetic enough.
"You disrupted my peace while I was studying to help my classmates so now you're going to stay still and quiet so you'll learn what it's like to fucking shut up," Arisu snarled. "No snarky comments, no annoyed sigh, I don't want to hear a thing from you. You're annoying enough in class with your smug face and your demeaning observations."
Arisu took Chishiya's jaw between his fingers, tilting his face towards him. He was not applying strong pressure to his throat but the pads of his fingers were enough of a presence to remind him of the possibility of it constantly. Chishiya didn't understand why a part of him wished Arisu's fingers would press in a little more. He didn't have a lot of sexual experiences, he didn't have the time for it. And the little he had never involved a hand circling his throat, but he already decided that he didn't mind it at all, on the contrary. Which was extremely annoying.
Chishiya looked into Arisu's face and saw anger and what he guessed reflected his own lust.
"Have I made myself clear?" Arisu asked sharply, two fingers then digging painfully in the side of Chishiya's face.
"Fuck you," he whispered.
Arisu laughed, his head falling back as he let out a few waves of bitter laugh and he dropped the hold on Chishiya's face.
"That's what you want, hm?"
The hand that was resting on his thigh until then palmed his erection through his trousers. Chishiya repressed a whine at the contact, letting out a surely pitiful gasp instead.
"That's what I thought," Arisu smirked, focusing back on Chishiya's face. "Now let me finish my lesson and try to be a good student."
He squeezed his cock through the fabric, his other hand coming back under his t-shirt to roam his stomach. Chishiya exhaled heavily at the two sources of contact, seeking to regain control on his bodily reactions.
"Where was I? Ah yes. Child Care Policy, 88."
Chishiya quirked an eyebrow at the grade strangely under ninety.
"Disappointing."
Arisu's thumb circled across his ribs, a contrast to the pressure he was putting on his clothed length with his other hand.
"Law and stuff like that aren't my thing," Arisu shrugged, his eyes never leaving Chishiya's.
As a belated punishment for talking, Arisu squeezed his cock again more forcefully, making it twitch. His nails trailed his stomach down to the waistband of his trousers, the graze electrifying.
"Special Educational Needs, 97."
"A-Arisu," Chishiya whispered, wincing at the lack of strength in his voice.
"What? Are you trying to call off your bet now?" he taunted. "And here I thought med students were freaks, you're ready to quit before I've even touched you?"
Arisu's hand rested patiently just next to Chishiya's waistband, his thumb stroking his stomach. The pressure on his cock got lighter as he waited for him to answer. Arisu's eyes were searching for his, the smug smirk dissolving a little when Chishiya didn't answer.
But he didn't answer, not because he didn't want this to continue, but because he was still trying to understand how the situation had slipped from his control so badly. One second he had thought he had won, got the upper hand with his touches, but Arisu had turned the situation around and he found that he didn't want to pull away. How far was Arisu willing to go for this stupid bet?
"Chishiya?" Arisu asked, his eyebrows raising in softened concern.
"Sorry, I was still focused on your 88," he answered, shaking his head slightly as if to get himself out of a trance, a sly smirk on his lips.
"You're an ass," Arisu growled, his expressions hardening again.
His hand dove below his waistband, underneath his boxers. His fingers wrapped around his length, his thumb gathering precum at the tip.
Chishiya bit the inside of his cheek to repress the moan that threatened to escape his lips at the direct contact against his cock. He didn't want to show the other that he was getting pleasure from these humiliating circumstances. But Arisu was observing him closely and noticed the slight clench of his jaw as he started stroking him with an unforgiving pace.
"Good, keep your mouth shut," he smirked. "Psychological Therapies, 99."
Arisu's other hand unzipped Chishiya's trousers quickly, pulling his cock out of its clothed prison. It sprang free, bobbing lightly against his stomach as Arisu relaxed his grip for a second to let it out of his clothes.
But then his hands, both of them, were back on him, and Chishiya hissed as one of them curled around his balls, massaging them, the other back on his length, stroking without gentleness. Chishiya's hips jerked at the curt motions.
"Let me guess," he panted between strokes, "your professor - ah - said you perfectly understood the different approaches you were taught."
"Something like that."
He let go of his balls, his fingers brushing over them so lightly as he moved away. His hand roamed up his stomach and torso slowly over his t-shirt. It came to rest on one of his shoulders, pushing Chishiya back into his seat as he had been unconsciously leaning forward to Arisu, their faces only a few centimetres away from each other.
Arisu's strokes, already unforgiving then, were getting forceful as he gave a slight twisting motion each time his hand reached the head of his cock, spreading precum over his fingers and his palm before going back down to slick his length.
Chishiya's breaths were heavy as he desperately tried to stifle any moan or whine that dared to find a place in his throat. He was getting close, the repeated twisting motion over his head a dizzying sensation that made the world blurry around him, leaving only Arisu in front of him and his greedy hands.
"Family Relation-"
A knock on the door, soft but certain.
They both froze, Arisu's hands on Chishiya stilling, their grip softening for a moment.
"Not now! Come back later!" Arisu shouted assertively. Steps moved away from the door.
Arisu sighed as Chishiya blinked, trying to gather his mind now that his cock was given a respite.
But no point.
Arisu's smirk was immediately back on his face and his hold on Chishiya purposeful again.
"Let's finish this lesson quickly, as you can see other people have use for this office."
His motions were getting faster, harder.
"Family Relationships, 95."
His thumb grazed over the tip of Chishiya's cock, insistent, as his hand kept stroking.
Chishiya stared at him, his lips parted, pants coming out of his mouth unevenly. Arisu's smirk painted his face but he could see how his gaze would lower often to look at his hardened cock in his hand or how he would stare at Chishiya's lips when he unexpectedly let a few pants that dangerously sounded like moans, a guttural sound trapped in his throat.
He felt the rush of sensations that usually warned Chishiya that he was about to come, like a coil tensing in his lower belly, ready to snap against the heat he could no longer contain within his groin.
Should he tell Arisu? He had told him to shut up. Repeatedly. But giving a warning was basic manners when one was about to cover someone else's hand in cum, right?
"I-I'm going to-"
"Good," Arisu groaned, "Quietly now."
A few more strokes and Chishiya was done for.
The coiled snapped, his vision whitening out as he came in Arisu's hand. He felt his entire body jerk as the other man's fingers squeezed around his length, pumping him in adept movements.
Arisu's other hand on his shoulder pressed him back against the chair as his back arched with his release, forcing him to stay as still as possible.
A moan escaped his mouth, unrestrained and shameful when Arisu's thumb brushed over his tip covered in cum, the overstimulation causing Chishiya to lose the control over his voice.
"I'll have to fail you for that," Arisu taunted.
He let go of his shoulder as Chishiya fell slack against the backrest of his seat, his mind dizzy from his orgasm. He closed his eyes, feeling the world around him spinning unusually. He heard Arisu search for something in his bag and then his softening cock was wiped by paper tissue, the unexpected sensation making Chishiya open his eyes, straightening in his seat.
"Let me go," he snapped, grabbing the tissue from Arisu's hand.
"Sorry for helping," he snickered but let go, sitting back in his chair.
Arisu observed him as he finished to clean himself, getting redressed in quick movements.
"What the hell is wrong with you anyway?" Chishiya snarled, turning away from him as he gathered his exam papers.
"You wanted intel, I happened to be the best person to share it," Arisu shrugged, moving his chair away.
"Don't you understand what a competition imply? Don't you have classes on the psychology of it in your madhouse?"
"I've never agreed to your bet if I remember correctly," Arisu smirked, playing with his pen spontaneously.
Chishiya scoffed, slamming the papers flat on the desk with a loud noise.
"But now that I have seen how far you're willing to go, fine, I'll agree to your terms."
Chishiya was not sure he wanted it anymore. He had seen and heard Arisu's grades. The length he had gone to even before choosing - in his mind at least - whether he was accepting Chishiya's wager told him that he would know no limit to his determination in his success. Would Chishiya have gone through the same magnitude of actions just to assess his opponent? He had thought himself winning with a hand on a thigh and ended cornered by more vicious than him.
He could not allow himself to lose however. Not against someone lazy like Arisu who played games all semester long and somehow had the best grades of his cohort. Not against someone who thought he could teach him about his grades like a self-absorbed freak. Not against someone he didn't know that name of two days ago but had figured out his reading pace for fuck sake. And certainly not against a psychology major in a bunch of modules he could have passed in primary school. And who could make him come like a pathetic virgin teenage boy from a hand job.
"I'm going now, psych' kid, Chishiya muttered, grabbing his bag and sliding it over his body.
"Not tidying after yourself?" Arisu asked, pointing at the stack of papers with his pen nonchalantly.
"You work there, no? That's your task then."
With that he crossed the room, opening the door and gritting his teeth as a harsh gust of wind hit his face. Right, shitty isolation the other had said.
"See you later, med stud'," Arisu sing-sang behind him as Chishiya closed the door abruptly.
"Asshole."
