Legendary Lovers

Summary:

Introducing

Notes:

I am supposed to hate him. He wears the wrong jersey, plays for the wrong side of the stadium, and stands right between me and everything I’ve ever worked for.

He is my greatest enemy.

And yet, my brain spends every waking hour cataloging the things I despise about him. I hate that thick, dirtiest shade of blond hair that never stays out of his eyes. I hate that cocky, unbearable smirk he flashes. I hate how he’s so damn tall, towering over me. I hate that he manages to look effortlessly annoying every single day.

But most of all,

I hate how exhausting it is to keep pretending that I actually dislike him.

K.J

We aren’t teenagers anymore. We shouldn’t be acting like this, and I know for a fact I shouldn't be going out of my way to intentionally get under his skin.

But he makes it impossible. He has this terrible, arrogant attitude paired with a face so terrifyingly enchanting it makes me want to think about things I absolutely, definitely shouldn't.

Maybe I’m just desperate for his attention. Maybe, that’s the real reason I purposely do the exact things I know he hates, just to watch his jaw clench.

Whatever the reason, it's working. He sure as hell hates me.

The first thing children in South Korea learned about football wasn’t how to pass a ball or what the offside rule meant. It was his name. Kim Juhoon.

By the time he was twenty, he was a national icon, having led South Korea to a historic World Cup victory as the youngest captain in history. The media dubbed him Korea’s Treasure, television stations replayed his winning goal on a loop, and kids everywhere wore his number 23 jersey. At twenty-five, his flawless, calculated technique and cold, merciless intensity on the pitch made him an unstoppable force. Football came first. Always.

On the opposite side of the world, another number dominated the highlight reels: 08. Martin Edwards Park, Canadian football’s golden boy. Born to a Korean mother and a Canadian father, Martin chose to represent Canada after his parents' divorces, a decision that earned him the label of "traitor" by furious fans online. Where Juhoon brought precision, Martin brought absolute chaos, toying with defenders and playing with pure, arrogant instinct.

They were polar opposites, yet equally brilliant, turning every football debate into a single, impossible question:

Who was better?

Their rivalry was already fierce, but it turned personal three years ago when Martin accidentally injured Juhoon’s teammate and never apologized. It grew even uglier after Juhoon posted a shaded caption celebrating his World Cup win, heavily implying Martin lacked pride in his heritage. They openly detested each other. Juhoon hated Martin’s loud, smiling arrogance; Martin hated Juhoon’s silent, stuck-up perfection.

Which made the latest announcement entirely unbelievable. The world’s biggest sportswear brand had just signed both of them as the faces of its new global campaign. Everyone else around them knew it was a disaster waiting to happen.
