Chapter Text
Jimin was six years old when he met Min Yoongi, who was eight years old at the time.
Jimin looked up to Yoongi because he was older and he could ride a bike without safety wheels and he got to stay up until 20:30.
At the time Jimin didn't know why Yoongi's family was so important to his, he didn't understand any of the business stuff and all he knew is that Yoongi was a nice companion.
He remembers Yoongi being the one to teach him how to ride without safety wheels instead of his father, he was too busy as usual. He remembers Yoongi taking him out for ice cream after he'd fallen and scraped his knee, he remembers Yoongi being the one to patch it up and kissing it softly like a mother or father would normally do.
Yoongi was the one to help Jimin study for a test, Yoongi was the one to learn Jimin how to tie his shoes.
It was always Yoongi, Yoongi helped him whilst their parents were busy doing whatever it was they were doing.
Yoongi was the only thing that felt safe, secure something that was always there and never changed. Yoongi had been there to celebrate Jimin's birthdays with him when his parents couldn't, he remembers Yoongi always bringing his favorite cake and a present to his birthday.
“Make a wish Jimin” Yoongi would say as he lit the candles,
Every year Jimin made the same wish,
Please don't take Yoongi hyung away from me
Jimin clearly remembers the face Yoongi made when Jimin had bought him a gift for his birthday for the first time, Jimin had saved money to buy a Kumamom plushie.
Yoongi had often told him about how much he loved the Japanese mascot and Jimin wanted to give Yoongi something in return for everything he'd done for Jimin. Yoongi's face was priceless and Jimin wanted to savor the sight.
“I love you hyung!” Jimin said as Yoongi held the Kumamom plushie, it was the first time where Jimin had actually said it out loud. He thought it a lot afterwards but never had the guts to tell him.
“I love you too Jimin” Yoongi had said with a smile on his face,
This was the moment where Jimin knew he'd fallen for Yoongi.
Jimin's education was planned out, every step and class selected to shape him to take over the company of his parents. The only good thing about his whole school carrier was that Yoongi followed the same classes, meaning they'd attend the same school and that was enough for Jimin.
There was a rare moment where Jimin actually made friends, they were assigned to do a project in high school. A group project and Jimin was asked by Taehyung if he wanted to join him and his friend for the project. Jimin, being extremely grateful, took this chance.
He was in a group with Hoseok and Taehyung who were some of the funniest and brightest people he'd ever met, he loved them to bits and is forever grateful for taking him under their wing and always being there for him.
At first Jimin had been extremely awkward around Taehyung and Hoseok's bantering, it wasn't until Taehyung invited Jimin along to hang out at his place that he started to open up.
Taehyung's brother greeted him excitedly, Jimin was intimidated by the beauty of the man who was greeting him. Jimin stumbled out a greeting before Taehyung stormed down the stairs to take Jimin with him upstairs.
Hoseok was already upstairs sitting on Taehyung's bed with his back pressed against the wall, they watched movies and played video games together and Taehyung's brother, Seokjin, cooked for them which was so much better than the instant food or anything Yoongi cooked if he was brutally honest.
Taehyung and Hoseok became his best friends, his pillars especially in the last two years of high school since Yoongi had gone to college. Yoongi had less time for Jimin and focused on his studies and the time he did have he spent with Namjoon, Yoongi's friend from college, making music. They both shared the same passion for music and thats how they became friends.
There were occasions where Yoongi would be at Taehyung's house when he was there too, Namjoon was dating Seokjin and was found around the two friends often since then.
Taehyung and Hoseok were the only people Jimin ever told about his crush on Yoongi, Taehyung claimed he already knew because he was his best friend causing an argument who was who's best friend but Jimin wouldn't have his friends any other way.
Hoseok told him to tell Yoongi about it, Yoongi would love him too he'd said.
After high school they parted ways, Taehyung went to art school just like Hoseok and Jimin went to business school. He was happy and sad at the same time, going to business school meant going to school with Yoongi again but it also meant leaving his friends.
Taehyung told him to stop moping around because Taehyung said he'd rather die than stop hanging out with Jimin and that they'd hang out until his death.
After college Jimin and Yoongi got engaged, much to both of their shock and surprise.
Their parents had been arranging their marriage for years, they were absolutely thrilled to tell them.
Jimin couldn't be happier. He loved Yoongi and he adored the man, he was his best friend and more.
Jimin was actively helping with the planning of the wedding, Yoongi not so much, he was often away and didn't return until early in the morning.
Yoongi avoided Jimin like the plague and Jimin voiced his concerns to his best friends,
“He probably needs some time to process the fact it wasn't him actually asking you but that it was arranged” Taehyung had grinned.
“He needs some time” Hoseok had agreed
Jimin smiled as his friends words calmed him.
Yoongi was spending even more time with Namjoon and Seokjin, the couple being engaged themselves too.
Jimin was worried, he didn't know what Yoongi was thinking or what his thoughts were which was a scary thought and the reason why Jimin ignored the problem.
The wedding day was exactly how Jimin had wanted it to be.
Yoongi's best man was Namjoon,
Jimin had a hard time choosing a best man but settled for Taehyung after Hoseok's forcing.
Jimin had written vows, he was planning on telling them but Yoongi didn't want to tell vows.
Yoongi had gradually become grumpier and Jimin was worried, this wasn't the Yoongi he knew.
“Do you, Min Yoongi, take Park Jimin as your lawfully wedded husband?”
there was silence for a few seconds making Jimin nervous, Yoongi glanced to the crowd before looking back at Jimin,
“I do”
Jimin sighed in relief,
“Do you, Park Jimin, Take Min Yoongi as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do” Jimin said in a heartbeat, his heart was hammering out of his chest.
Jimin missed part of the speech as all he could hear was the beating of his own heart, until he heard the words;
“You may now kiss the bride”
They both leaned forward, their lips met shortly before Yoongi pulled back. Jimin felt his lips aching for more but he wasn't going to complain. The crowd broke out in cheers, Jimin couldn't wipe the smile of his face. Yoongi's parents walked up to him to wish him nothing but the best in the marriage and Jimin's did the same with Yoongi.
Hoseok and Taehyung embraced Jimin tightly, “congratulations Min Jimin” They grinned and Jimin felt his cheeks heat up because that sounded really nice.
Jimin saw Yoongi talking to Namjoon and Seokjin, there was another man, well more like boy he couldn't be older than Jimin. He was talking with them and Jimin had never seen or heard from him before. Jimin vaguely remembers the boy sitting next to Seokjin during the ceremony meaning he must be close to Yoongi.
Taehyung had dragged him over to Seokjin and Namjoon who congratulated him,
“We wish you the best” Seokjin said, his voice sounded more like he was convincing himself that things would be good for them but Jimin was to happy to ask him.
“Congratulations” The boy said offering Jimin his hand,
“Thank you..” He said suddenly thinking what he should call him,
“Jeongguk” the boy had said, “Jeon Jeongguk”
“Thank you Jeongguk” Jimin smiled, “thank you for coming, I don't know who you are but you must be a friend of Yoongi”
“Yeah” Jeongguk stuttered “I'm a friend of Yoongi”
Taehyung stared at Jeongguk, a frown was adorning his features as he took Jimin with him again.
“I don't like the kid, there's something up” he'd said.
“Don't worry Tae, I'm sure he's just a little shy” Jimin said,
“So you noticed the stuttering too” Taehyung said,
“How could I not” Jimin said.
“Just, just be careful around him” Taehyung said and Jimin promised he would.
Jimin enjoyed himself with his friends, they were drinking and dancing but when he and Yoongi went to their hotel room for their wedding night is when it cam crumbling down on Jimin. This was no fairytale.
Jimin sat down nervously on the bed as he didn't know what was going to happen, Jimin knew what people normally did on their wedding night and he was nervous but if it was going to happen he was glad it was with Yoongi.
But this is when it went wrong,
“What's the plan hyung?” Jimin asked shyly, Yoongi glanced back from the balcony where he was smoking.
“Sleeping” he replied coldly,
“Don't you want to..” Jimin said too flustered to finish his sentence.
Yoongi stepped back inside, “Jimin, do you have actual feelings for me?”
Jimin felt nervous, surely that wasn't a question anymore right? Otherwise they wouldn't have married each other. It didn't take a lot for someone to figure out Jimin liked Yoongi, his parents knew and he thought they arranged their wedding because Yoongi felt the same.
“Yes” Jimin said softly as he swallowed the lump building up in his throat,
He heard Yoongi groan but he said down next to Jimin and gingerly put a hand on his shoulder, “Jimin, I- I love you and you know that but I don't love you romantically, not anymore”
Jimin looked up, tears in his eyes because not only was his love unrequited but he also missed his chance since Yoongi had feelings for him at some point but Jimin was too coward to confront Yoongi about it.
“Anymore? When did you...?” Jimin said his breath shaking,
Yoongi chuckled “It was in my last year of high school, I loved you a lot Jimin but I saw you with Taehyung and Hoseok a lot at the time and I thought you were in a relationship with one of them”
“Can't we give it a chance hyung, your feelings might return and mine certainly won't fade” Jimin said with a little hint of hope in his voice.
“I can't Jimin” Yoongi said, popping the last bubble of hope in Jimin's chest with a needle,
“But hyung we can..” Jimin tried to reason but Yoongi looked at him sternly making Jimin stop talking.
“Jimin I was able to move on from you because I met Jeongguk in my first year of college” Yoongi said and it all fell into place.
Jeongguk was at the wedding because Yoongi had invited him, he was sitting in the front row next to Seokjin because he was close to Yoongi. He got flustered when he said they were indeed 'close' he was the person to who Yoongi kept staring at during their ceremony.
“How.. how did he capture your heart so easily” Jimin asked sounding more demanding, he felt like Jeongguk had stoled Yoongi from him, if he had never met him he would've loved Jimin and they would enjoy their married life.
“I met him at a café, he was singing and playing the piano and I've never heard someone sing so angelic” Yoongi said staring dreamily at nothingness.
Yoongi used to say that about Jimin's singing,
“He had the most beautiful doe eyes and the most perfect bunny smile. He was so shy when I bought him a drink. He listened to some of my tracks and he was adorable. At first I felt nothing more than a want to help him out, help him start but then he got more comfortable around me and opened up more, he got brattier and sassier with the day and no matter how grumpy I got he'd always answer with the same bright smile and I noticed that I loved the kid” Yoongi blinked for a moment as a sigh escaped his lips,
“As much as I hate to say this Jimin but there's no place for you in my life” he looked at Jimin “Not like this at least” he said his hands gesturing between them.
“Why not” Jimin said as the tears were running down his face, “This could be a great thing if only you'd let it be”
“I love Jeongguk, Jimin”
No, no don't say that
“I love him with all my heart”
No, no you can't
“I'm not going to give up what we have for you Jimin, we're happy, I'm not giving him up”
“please Yoongi” Jimin said, his hand searching for Yoongi's but he had retracted his hands.
“Jimin, I will not give Jeongguk up. Not now not ever”
Yoongi left Jimin in the bed alone as he walked out of the room where Jimin heard and enthusiastic voice greet Yoongi, a voice that was undoubtedly Jeongguk's.
Jimin fell asleep in a cold bed but woke up in an even colder bed.
Yoongi picked Jimin up, the car drive was silent and Jimin felt like he was the only one who felt the awkwardness in the air.
Jimin and Yoongi's house was big, spacious and the house was equipped with beautiful furniture, Jimin wished he could feel like it was a home but it felt cold.
Yoongi slept in a different room, he was almost never home because of work and if he had spare time he was with Jeongguk or Namjoon.
Jimin often had Taehyung and Hoseok over when they had time,
He was happy when they were around but miserable when they weren't.
There was one time where Yoongi was the one at home and Jimin was gone, Jimin came back home only to find Yoongi lying on the couch with Jeongguk barely dressed.
Jeongguk lifted his head from Yoongi's chest, who was sleeping soundly, and Jimin felt rage boil in his stomach.
“Hello Jimin hyung” Jeongguk had said, Jimin wished he could say Hello back but instead he said something else,
“You ruined everything and you have the nerve to be in my house?” Jimin had said, Jeongguk looked confused at Jimin.
“If it weren't for you, I would be having a happy life with Yoongi. I'd be the one in your place now. But you just had to step into the picture. You, Jeon Jeongguk, ruined my life” Jimin said tears in the corner of his eyes.
“Jimin hyung,” Jeongguk said, his voice sounded concerned, Jimin could laugh, why would Jeongguk care about his feelings anyways.
“Get out” Jimin said finally yelling,
“hyung..” Jeongguk said but Jimin approached him making the boy stumble backwards,
“You ruined my life what else do you want!” Jimin yelled and he felt a hand grab his wrist before his fist could collide with any part of Jeongguk's body.
“Get dressed Jeongguk, I'll drive you back when were done” Yoongi's voice was soft as he spoke to Jeongguk, Jimin had never heard Yoongi talk like that to anyone, not even him.
Jeongguk nodded as he sprinted upstairs and Jimin's stomach turned at the fact that the boy was already so familiar in the house.
Yoongi turned Jimin around, Jimin expected Yoongi to look disappointed but he was met with a face full of pure anger.
“Jimin, what the actual fuck were you thinking” Yoongi growled angry,
“What was I thinking?” Jimin snapped back “You were the one to bring him into our house”
“Yeah, he's my fucking boyfriend what did you think?” Yoongi said angry and Jimin wanted to cry
“But I'm your husband!” he yelled and tears fell down his face,
“Jimin, I told you I'm not dropping Jeongguk for you” Yoongi said, Jimin winced as the words had been said enough times already.
“Jimin, you're talking about how Jeongguk ruined your life. Well you're ruining mine” Yoongi snapped before he walked upstairs. Leaving Jimin alone.
He came back a few minutes later with a small suitcase in hand and Jeongguk's hand in the other.
“How long will you be gone” Jimin asked softly, being tired of yelling and being angry.
“Don't know” Yoongi's reply was short and curt, he was clearly still angry but there was some softness in his voice.
Yoongi walked out of the house with Jeongguk, Jimin could hear Yoongi starting the car and driving away.
Jimin was sitting in the corner of the room and it smelt like Jeongguk. Like it wasn't even Jimin and Yoongi's house but more like Jeongguk and Yoongi's house and Jimin felt a hollow ache in his chest as held his knees close to his chest and buried his face in them.
