Chapter Text
The memories we carry and the stories we leave behind can outlive us. They become our mark on history, passed from one generation to the next. But the memories that are never shared, and the stories left untold, risk dying twice: first with the people who lived them, and then with those who never had the chance to hear them.
When one story ends, another begins. It's an endless cycle, and I think that's what gives the world—and, by extension, the universe—its meaning.
Like the countless stories that came before it, and the countless others that will follow, this one is no different.
At least, not to the world.
To me...
This isn't just a story.
It's my life.
These pages are all that's left of it.
The events that changed the course of my life happened many years ago, yet I still remember them as vividly as if they happened yesterday. There hasn't been a day since when I haven't found myself thinking back to that time. Some memories still hurt. I don't think they ever stop hurting. Others remind me why I kept going, even when I wanted to give up. Together, they made me the person I am today. They led me down the path I still walk.
For the longest time, I thought I was normal. Just another Worker Drone trying to live an ordinary life. I had a family. An imperfect one, certainly, but a family all the same. Looking back, I don't think I ever appreciated just how lucky I was to have them.
The people I love carry memories of their own, some just as painful as mine. We all carried burdens, though some were heavier than others. Somehow, we endured. We survived long enough to tell our story. Those experiences changed all of us, steering our lives in directions none of us could have imagined. Or maybe they didn't change us at all. Maybe they simply revealed who we truly were beneath everything we endured.
Trauma never really disappears. You just learn to carry it a little better. With enough time, resilience, and determination, the weight becomes easier to bear. The pain we endured, the struggles we overcame, and the sacrifices we made shaped us into people stronger than we ever believed we could become. And somewhere along the way, we found something far greater than anything we had lost.
Sometimes I still wonder how I survived everything life threw at me.
It feels like a miracle.
But I did survive.
And because I did, I found a life filled with more love, hope, and happiness than I ever thought I deserved.
I wouldn't trade it for anything.
No matter how painful these memories can be, I can't let them disappear. They shaped my life, and they deserve to be remembered.
That's why I started writing.
At first, it was simply a way to hold on to the things I was afraid of forgetting. But over time, it became something more. I've always admired the quiet dedication behind telling stories, the care it takes to preserve a life, a memory, or even a single fleeting moment before time can steal it away.
So I choose to remember.
I choose to tell you everything I saw.
Everything I learned.
Everything that changed my world forever.
This isn't really a story about me.
It's a story about my family.
They're the ones who shaped me into the person I became. These pages belong as much to them as they do to me. I can only hope that by sharing our story, a part of them will continue to live on, just as they continue to live on in me.
And to all of you reading this...
I hope these pages help you understand how everything came to be. How a single moment can alter the course of history. And how everything we believed we understood about life was challenged.
Welcome to my world.
