Work Text:
It's awkward and clumsy and strange. The sensation of fake lips on fake lips.
Am I doing this right? Sun wonders. He's not sure how long it's supposed to last. Or what he's supposed to actually be doing during it.
There's a weird pressure, too, which Sun realizes is the other person. Of course it is. There is another person. Obviously.
You can't really kiss without another person. Of course. Sun has seen the movies. He knows what kissing entails.
Except, in the movies, it always goes on for way too long. Is he doing that now? Is this too long? Is the other person good with this?
Also, in the movies, kisses are deep. Passionate, Sun knows it's called. With tongues and holding heads and everything.
Is it expected that he'll do that right now?
Should he do that?
Sun is getting distracted. Is that normal? Should he be focusing more on the kiss?
But no, it's too late. The other person pulls away. Smiling, but it doesn't quite reach their eyes.
They make a few comments, thank Sun, and then come up with what's probably an excuse to leave.
Sun can't quite figure out why. Everything had been going fine, right? The kiss was fine, right?
Maybe he just didn't do a good job. That was probably it. What is kissing normally like?
A quick search reveals the answer.
Butterflies. Sparks. Soaring, swooping. Dizzying. Wonderful. Addictive.
So much more than just another kind of touch.
Oh, Sun realizes.
I was supposed to feel something there.
