Work Text:

The sound of the keypad beeping alerts Changbin to Seungmin’s arrival. He waits patiently while Seungmin finishes inputting the code and opens the door.

The apartment is dark and quiet—by all accounts, Changbin should be in bed, but here he sits. Seungmin deftly toes off his shoes in the entry way and tiptoes down the hall, and Changbin waits patiently for him. The fridge light illuminates the space a bit when Seungmin opens it, depositing something inside before turning.

“Jesus Christ!” Seungmin all but screams when he catches sight of Changbin sitting in the dark of the living room. “What the hell are you doing?!”

“Waiting for you,”Changbin says simply, not moving from his spot on the couch.

Seungmin puts a hand on his chest, taking a deep breath in through his nose. “Why are you waiting for me in the dark like a murderer? Yah, Seo Changbin, you almost gave me a heart attack!”

“I wanted to see you as soon as you came home,” Changbin explains, voice calm, “so you wouldn’t have time to dispose of the evidence.”

“Evidence? Evidence of what?” Seungmin doesn’t move from his place behind the kitchen island, and Changbin acknowledges the smart tactical move.

“You know what.”

“I can assure you, I have no idea what you’re talking about. And while we’re at it, you don’t even live here. Did Felix let you in?” Seungmin looks around, searching for his wayward roommate.

“Felix is involved, I assure you, but no, he didn’t let me in. I know the code, Kim Seungmin. Don’t try to deflect, I’m the one asking the questions here—are you sure you don’t have anything you want to tell me?”

“Oh, I have lots of things I could tell you,” Seungmin mutters darkly, crossing his arms.

“I just think it’s interesting that you’ve come home so late on a weeknight.”

“You keep saying home like it’s supposed to mean something,” Seungmin mutters.

Changbin sniffs. “It does to me.”

“Does it?” Seungmin’s eyebrow is raised, but Changbin can see a smile twitching at the corner of his mouth. “What do I have to do to get you to tell me what you’re so bent out of shape about?”

When Changbin doesn’t answer, Seungmin crosses the space between them, only stopping once his standing between Changbin’s legs. He leans down, hands on Changbin’s cheeks, and kisses him.

It’s a good move, one Changbin should have seen coming.

“Am I forgiven?” Seungmin whispers, all his sharp edges smoothed away.

Changbin shakes his head, ignoring the racing of his heart. He can’t lose focus now. “I can taste it on you.”

Seungmin frowns, pulling back. “Hmm?”

“The lie.”

“The—?” Seungmin looks lost.

“It tastes like barbecue.”

Realization dawns on Seungmin’s face. “Oh my god.”

“You went for barbecue without me. How could you?”

“I told Jisung not to post that on his story,” Seungmin groans, dropping his head to Changbin’s shoulder. “I’m gonna kill him. And Minho-hyung, while I’m at it.”

This is silly and stupid and I don’t much care ☺️☺️
