The cafe was moderately busy, Dei gave the barista his order, drumming his fingers on the counter as he looked around.
Blowing his bangs out of his eyes, he grabbed the coffee and took an empty table by the window.
Rubbing the tattoo on the back of his hand Dei scrolled through the texts with Hidan.
How did we get here? What do I want from him?
Early in the relationship, Sasori had told him he didn’t mind Dei having other partners, as long as he was the priority.
These last few days…had been a shitshow, to put it bluntly. Deidara had been hopeful that last night would have been a foot into the door to continue the budding relationship he had with Hidan. Hell Sasori had agreed!
But seeing Hidan cocky, baring that bite mark just sent him into a blind rage. His mark sympathetically pulsed hot on his neck as he gripped the coffee harder. Did he even give a shit about Dei?
Sipping his lukewarm cup, Dei waited for his friend to arrive.
Hidan’s stomach was in knots. Was this even a good idea after last night? His body aches and the burn in his throat told him otherwise. The hum of the coffee grinder and chatter of patrons washed over him as the doorbell dinged to the downtown cafe.
Eyes roaming the menu, he settled on a croissant and a chai latte with cinnamon. Swiping his card he took his receipt and went to wait.
“Hidan?” The barista handed him the steaming pastry, “Your latte will be right out.” Nodding his acknowledgment, he went to wait against the wall.
The flash of blond out of the corner of his eye had him pause and change to sit down at the occupied table.
“Hey.” The suffocating feeling was back in force as he took another bite of his food. “So you wanted to talk about….this.” Dei was fiddling with his cup. “I’m not…hell, I can’t even say that now. The bites are not what you think. Kakuzu is an asshole with some sorta complex, and I pushed him too far yesterday. That’s what it was from. We’re not together .” The hushed word made Hidan heat up a little, cramming the last bite into his mouth.
Hidan’s gaze wouldn’t meet him. Dei let go of his cup and leaned forward, “Are we together Hidan? Because I thought that was what you wanted.”
The call of his name from the bar made Hidan jerk his head, “I…yes…hold that thought let me get that.” A hurried scramble for his drink and he was back, blowing on the lid.
A couple of ponderous seconds passed. “I’m with you Dei, if you’ll… both …have me.” He winced a little at the thought of Sasori in on it, but if that was what it took. A snort was violently exhaled from Dei, as the blond took in his words.
“Sasori is willing to have me. He tolerates you but -tch yeah I want to be with you. It’s..eh what’s the word. Invigorating.”
Hidan gave him a little smirk. “Invigorating? Well, damn, hun. But no yeah, I’d like to if you’re both still up for it. Kakuzu has…well. Ask Sasori about it. I don’t know why but they’re talking.” He stood. “We still on for this weekend?” The question was posed as he pulled out his phone. Deidara squinted at the mention of Kakuzu, “Talking, hn? He never mentioned it but I’ll ask I guess. I’ll see after work what he wants to do.”
Zwoop.
Dei tapped his screen, unlocking it to view the message that just popped up.
Danna: Almost off. Are you done talking?
Glancing back to Hidan, who just seemed to be watching him, he replied.
KatsuBird: Yeah, I’ll wait for you.
Flipping the screen down, he met Hidan’s eyes, “Alright, we’re in this. Need you to figure out what the hell is up with your roommate though.”
Scooting back to stand, he gestured to Hidan, “I’ll get with you later this week if Sasori says anything.” Hidan nodded, fishing out a few ones to tip the store as they left.
