It had been five years since Evan came back from the SEALs permanently. Five years since the 118 family finally met the last person they needed. Five years since Buck started at the fire academy. Four years since Buck completed his probationary year at the 118 fire house.
And since then, the 118 family has only grown.
First with Buck and Maddie coming in. Then came Jee-Yun, Chimney and Maddie's daughter who is a ray of sunshine in any dark time.
Then was Mara, the traumatised little girl who Hen, Karen and Denny were able to save and adopt, not without some hardships over the course of the adoption.
And finally was baby girl, Esmerelda 'Esme' Diaz. Born through surrogacy with Evan Diaz as the biological father.
And finally, the family was complete.
Bobby Nash had found the family he had lost.
Evan and Maddie were able to find the loving family life they had lacked in childhood and were finally able to salvage their relationship.
Life was finally good for them all.
