Summary
"Leaning against the door, he let the dopey, love-sick smile rise to his face once more. Not even the bitter sting of cat rejection could overshadow the giddiness from a team-outing-slash-group-date gone well.
'Herm? Is that you?' He heard. Seemed like one thing could. Suddenly, all of the dry spots Chad had left were instantly wet again."
(or: in which Herman comes home after the bar, and learns rather unexpectedly that he was not the only person in his family familiar with polyamory.)

Summary
It was refreshing, he thought. It felt nice to set down the roles of heroes for a night and just be people, go out into the world without the expectation of helping whoever needed help at that moment.
That didn’t stop Prism from attracting lost, recently heartbroken girls in the bathroom of whatever club they’d go to and making it her personal mission to talk them into making better decisions, but at least it was a choice, then. She would return to find Flambae on the dancefloor, often accompanied by some other man, and whoever she didn’t approve of would be pushed to the side and told he was taken, because she’d apparently made it her mission to get him to make better decisions, too.
Hence the dread. Hence the gradual fade of her music as she read his silence exactly for what it was.
“Okay,” she said, “get your ass over here and tell me what’s up.”

Or: Flambae has a confession to make.

Summary
“She didn’t tell me she was sending the hot nurse.” His voice is low, raspy in a way Robert is sure is supposed to be seductive but sounds a little more like he swallowed sandpaper. He grins up crookedly, eyes shamelessly dragging over the column of Robert’s throat. “Not that I’m complaining.”
Robert blinks. Once. Twice.
He… he wasn’t expecting that.
Or,
Flambae is concussed and thinks Robert’s his boyfriend. Shenanigans ensue.

Summary
Another reason the poster is so wildly expensive, even months later, is because that specific line of merch was also the release of Track Star’s first official merch line. He had only debuted a month earlier. Robert himself had only met the hero a week before his birthday. A week after his birthday, Track Star had started babysitting him.
Months later, he still does, even if Robert had grown too old for a babysitter.
“Call me Chase, kid.”
Robert removes his hands from his hips and crosses his arms instead, just like how Chase is posed in the poster.
It feels better than Dad’s pose.
=====
If you were to ask a young Robert who his favorite hero was, he would say Mecha Man, just as everyone expected it to be.
However, his real answer is Track Star.
That answer hasn’t changed, even over 15 years later.
(Or: Five times Robert knowingly imitated Chase (and the one time he didn’t))

Summary
When Robert was around 10 years old, his Uncle Elliot gave him a... Gift. An AI lodged into his brain. Powers, technically.
After the coma, he can't really hear his "brain twin", and decides he should probably fix that. Besides, "Oracle" would definitely fit right in with the Z-Team.

Summary
AU where Robert has powers his dad forced him to suppress in his youth. Upon stepping into the role of Mecha Man Blue, Robert runs himself into the ground physically, mentally, and financially to uphold his family’s legacy. It’s what he was born and raised for, after all. He can’t afford to fuck it up. He’s nothing outside of it. His dad was so keen on drilling that into his head.
…with that kind of pressure on him, is it any wonder he starts to act out? It really shouldn’t be surprising that he needs to let off some steam, some charge, so he doesn’t lose his cool doing real hero work. Call him a hypocrite. Call him a supervillain in a hero’s suit. Robert’s long since past the point of caring.
It’s just a shame he’s working so closely with people who know the hallmarks of a real villain a lot better than he would like them to. He’ll have to keep his work and his fun separate, for the team’s sake if nothing else. They mean a lot to him. He genuinely wants to help them succeed in their redemption arcs.
But he has no intention of stopping. Not when he’s finally back in his prime.
Not for anyone.

Summary
“Sooo have you actually had gay sex?” Victor asks genuinely curious.
Robert tilts his head, an actual grin breaking through. “Have the news ever lied to you?”
Everyone stares at Robert. He just shrugs.

Or the SDN makes the horrible executive decision to put Robert onstage as the Z-Team’s hero representative, fully aware that his PR experience consists of half a prayer and a legacy doing most of the heavy lifting. Robert takes the microphone and runs with it, feeding Los Angeles the most outrageous half-truths he can get away with.
The Z-Team slowly realizes their dispatcher is a public menace.
Unfortunately, they are completely whipped.

Summary
Robert has always treated his body like something temporary—maintained just enough to keep going. Then one run-in with a passing villain leaves him younger, unscarred, standing in a body that no longer carries the visible proof of the pain he survived. As the Z-Team watches him move through the world in a way he hasn’t in years, concern sharpens into something heavier. Others begin to notice what Robert himself has long learned to dismiss, and the truth becomes harder to avoid: whatever hit him didn’t just revert him—it revealed how much pain he’d been living with, and how quietly he let it happen. Because if this is who Robert used to be, then the version they’ve known has been surviving far more than he ever admitted.
—
Or: Robert gets caught in the crossfire of a fleeing villain’s power—and wakes up in the body he had at twenty-one.

Summary
Every power has a price. Something that would make you laugh at the irony if it wasn't so damn infuriating. A man with the strength of ten at the height of half of one. A woman with asthma who needs to hold her breath to stay invisible. A walking fireball who can lose his eyebrows to a rogue flame.
So of course when Robert realized he wasn't powerless, he could only laugh at the irony.
An immortal man who wishes he was dead really was the icing on the cake.
