Summary
Buck really didn’t know what he did in a past life to deserve this.
His eyes snapped open again, dragged toward the front door. The house sat in heavy silence, the kind that wasn’t peaceful but rather blaringly obvious, pressing in on his ears until he swore he could hear things that weren’t there. The faint crunch of the ice-machine. Pipes settling somewhere in the walls. Some sounds, however, were missing from the regular traffic. Notably, the hum of Eddie’s fan.
Where the fuck was Eddie?

‘You’re in the hospital.’ His sister–what was her name?--supplied. ‘There was an accident at work.’
Work? Where did he work again? In the clouds? Maybe he fell from one of them.
‘Did you want me to get Eddie?’
A warm feeling bloomed in his chest. Eddie…yes that word was familiar. He nodded, slowly.
His sister smiled softly and squeezed his hand. His eyelids drooped, heavy.
‘You rest.’ Her voice was soft. ‘Eddie will be here when you wake.’
