Summary
Aonung's unhelpful and deeply incorrect guide to become a strong and manly leader according to his uncle. With a few (many) fails.
Or more like, 6 times where Aonung failed at becoming a manly leader because of Neteyam and the one time he succeeded. (Also me using this as an excuse to preach about Neteyam's beauty because I can).

Summary
Neteyam snorts quietly, his eyes flickering from under his eyelashes to gaze up at Aonung's face. Startled, Aonung continues. “And I don’t think you’re freaks or anything. I was just saying that because I’m— I was—” He can’t let Neteyam know. Not yet, and probably not ever. “I was afraid Lo’ak would take Tsireya away.”
It’s only a tiny white lie. Equally embarrassing, infinitely less shameful than the cacophony of feelings that rise up in his chest whenever Neteyam looks at him. Neteyam, the son of Toruk Makto: fearless, aggravating, irresistible.

but what ao’nung will never forget were his eyes.
his wide, dark eyes. full of uncertainty and fear. how they followed him while he walked. that was it. there it was. looking into the strange boy’s eyes, it feels like he found something.
maybe he’s not as strange as he thinks.

Summary
“It’s not our fault, you know, to look… different.” Neteyam explains, and the ocean between them vanishes.
“No, it isn’t.” Aonung responds, a little too quickly for his liking. It gets a small smile on Neteyam’s face, so he supposes it doesn’t really matter.
