Because he moved suddenly and tried to talk, and that was too much stress.” He looks up, then, black holes for eyes. Takemichi shoulders the gaze. “He talked to you.”
“He did,” Takemichi answers softly. The good arm that’s wrapped around the pillow he’d picked up clenches around it. He already knows what the question is, but he lets Mikey ask it anyway.
“What did he say?”
“He talked about you,” Takemichi replies, simply. “You’re his brother. Why would he talk about anything else?”
Or, people seem to have the odd habit of entrusting Mikey to him when they're about to die. Takemichi recognizes patterns.

Usually, a friendship is built on trust and two mutually consenting parties.”
Hanma looks genuinely puzzled at that. “Really?”
They stare at each other for a long moment, before Chifuyu gives up and rolls his eyes. “If I agree to be your friend, can we be the kinda friends that see each other once a year and only send memes over text or something?”
After years of working with animals, it should come to no one's surprise that Matsuno Chifuyu has developed a soft heart for strays. Sure, he wasn't prepared to be dealing with one in the form of a fully grown menace of a man, but now that Hanma Shuji is here, they can pry him from Chifuyu's cold, dead hands.
