Agatha wets her lips, leans in close. Rio’s eyes track the movement before she has time to realize, and she has nowhere to go, back pressed against the many tins of chopped tomatoes on the shelf. She tries to keep a neutral expression. Unfazed. Possibly unsuccessfully.
“So I’ll earn it.”
OR
Rio inherits her aunt's restaurant. Agatha makes the whole thing much more stressful than it should be.

“Ah, so there’s the line. You know, if you wanted to take me out, you could’ve just asked.”
Agatha glares at Rio for her stupid joke, “No need for all the excess—a photo of you will do, just so they know when I come home that I could date if I wanted to.”
“So you want a picture of me to convince everyone back home that you’re going on a date… instead of just going on a date?”
Agatha clicks and points at Rio, “Now you’re getting it.”

Agatha needs to convince her son and her friends that she’s having the whirlwind vacation romance of a lifetime. Probably so they don’t think she’ll die alone. That’s where Rio (who she knows absolutely nothing about) comes in.

Summary
Agatha Ruth Harkness, senior lecturer on sexuality and power dynamics in colonial New England witch cults, had hit a gold mine. Four boxes of unexamined documents straight from her time period of expertise that she gets to be the first to decode. A research grant that will last through the spring semester, at least. A holiday break full of peace and quiet. The only problem was that she had suddenly been handed a bratty grad student who was probably going to steal her thesis right out from underneath her.
or: agatha plans to spend the holiday by herself. too bad rio's around, being endearing and unwillingly filling her with holiday cheer.

“It’s nice,” she nods, taking a second piece before she begins to suck the juice off of her fingers, inserting each one individually into her mouth and releasing them with an audible pop that nearly sends Rio into a coma.
