He invited everyone. He and his dad made the cards for the invites and his mom asked the other moms.Still Shane sits at home, with the cake and the plates ready and he is alone.
he can hear the nervous whisper of his mother.
He hears how his father tries to calm her.Shane knows that no one will come. He saw that some boys on his team threw away the cards.
he spend two afternoons with his father making them.
He knows he is different , but it hurts to actually feel it.
In the end, he eats the cake alone with his parents. Shane smiles and tells his mom that it is okay.
They both know it is not.
They put down the decorations and watch some hockey.Shane cries himself to sleep that night.
