None of that has anything to do with social media, there differences between sites, yes, but that doesn't change what they are. You can say that tiktoks are 'creative gifts born out of love', that doesn't mean it isn't media content for the purpose of entertainment?? Like, just think about what social media is, it's in the term, Social. Media. It just means spaces online where people interact for social and entertainment reasons, usually over a common media form (like videos, photos or written works), but often it is multiple forms mixed together. There is no requirement that there is an algorithm that recommends you things, although most other fanfiction and written works social media does have that. Just because the site functions as a library for inspired written works doesn't change its purpose, tiktok is a library and archive of short-form video content, Facebook is a library and archive of photos, those both have algorithms that function differently, and you can't make money off Facebook posts either, both of those platforms have comment spaces (that are under the control of the posting account or mediated by a more external force) where you can directly interact with other users or the original poster. Like, it's not a bad thing for it to be social media, that's just what it is??
