Summary
An orange in the bottom of the Christmas stocking is a treat, meant to be savored. In popular culture, the orange represents a ball of gold that St. Nickolas gave a girl to pay for her dowry.
Oranges have always been Jack's favorite food, ever since Phil gave him that first one many, many years ago. Over time, Phil has taken care of Jack in the little ways that he could, even if it was just a treat or keeping an eye out for the boy. If he could have, Phil would have brought Jack in from the cold the first time that he tried to break in. Now, with joining the guardians, Phil can finally give Jack something that they have both wanted for a long time: a home.
