Summary
He should have let it go. Instead his stupid, stubborn pride made him attempt to lift the blade with one hand, just to feel a little bit like the time before it all went wrong. Before the visions of destruction, the fear, the mistrust. When he was just an upstart knight promised to have a comfortable life in a comfortable world with his comfortable friends and nothing was wrong and he was okay and not trapped in an ever-cold stone tomb.
But that time was gone, forever, buried well beneath years of hurt and pain. His arm gave out, the blade falling from his hand and hitting the ground with an echoing clang.
Shame prickled at his bony fingertips. But mostly, he just felt sorrow, regret, as they all stared at the shining blade lying among the filth caked on the cracked stone-brick ground.
“Your hero’s strength,” he announced in a quiet rasp. “Do you see what you’ve done to it, now?”

Summary

After an achingly long time, the defamed hero of the land, Link—who happens to also be Orville's closest friend, or at least used to be—is finally freed from his wrongful imprisonment. Now, they're near strangers with four long years sitting like a wedge between them.
