Summary
S4, E1
Peter Kingdom never meant to fall for a client. Romance was something he’d long since filed away—too complicated, too risky, and definitely not in the plan. But then Ann Wheeler came to Market Shipborough. She was only meant to stay long enough to settle her aunt’s affairs… and yet, she stayed. They became friends. And for months, they danced around something neither of them dared name—until one night changed everything. Now Peter’s left facing what he’s tried so hard to avoid—his feelings, his past, and the terrifying possibility that he’s ruined the best thing he never quite had the courage to ask for.

Ruby Harper, a quirky local artist, and Sidney Snell are tasked with decorating the community Christmas tree - an undertaking that predictably garners the disapproval of the city council. Sarah Mannington, a mysterious herbalist, sets up shop on Market Shipborough's high street. Her father, Charles, becomes smitten with Gloria. Lyle once again finds himself defending Henny Leach in court, all the while battling nerves about meeting Emily's parents for the first time. Summary
S5 E1
When London businesswoman Emma Harrington inherits her late aunt’s country pile in Market Shipborough, she wastes no time in palming the whole affair off onto Peter, the long-suffering executor of the estate. Her instructions are brisk and to the point: sort out The Grey Coterie—a formidable band of pensioners living (to Emma’s irritation) quite legally under her aunt’s charitable rent-controlled agreement. Having turned the mansion into their own version of paradise, they preside over competitive bingo nights and a bewildering proliferation of tea cosies that would put the Queen’s kitchen to shame.
Whilst Peter grapples with these canny tenants—who deploy guilt trips and disapproving looks with military precision—romance and mischief ripple through the town. Poor Lyle manages to bungle his proposal to Emily with the timing of a faulty clock, Doreen Wheeler has descended in full maternal force to fuss over little Henry’s first birthday, and Sidney Snell is—inevitably—trying his luck with Gloria once again.

Summary
S5 E2
When Geoff Merton applies for his state pension, he expects bureaucracy—not accidental bigamy. Thanks to an unpaid court fee, his ex-wife Marjorie (now sunning herself in Spain) is still, legally, his wife—much to the horror of his current one, Pauline. Meanwhile, Sidney Snell has declared war on the council after his beloved, unmoved-for-decades 1973 Bedford camper van earns itself a parking ticket. As if Peter Kingdom doesn’t have enough to unravel, his wedding plans stall over a minor venue dispute. And just when he thought nothing could surprise him, Annie announces she’s considering a home water birth—right in their living room. Between bureaucratic blunders, civic outrage, and impending fatherhood (again), Peter wonders if he’s the only sane man left in Market Shipborough.

Summary
S5 E4
Market Shipborough has a new solicitor. She has a sleek, glass-fronted office, an espresso machine that cost more than Lyle's bicycle, and a twenty percent introductory discount that is doing absolutely catastrophic things to Kingdom & Kingdom's client list. Peter, operating on three hours' sleep and the fumes of new parenthood, is choosing to view this as healthy competition. Lyle is choosing to view it as a declaration of war. And Belinda Chadwick—Market Shipborough's most dangerous woman in Louboutins—decides that loyalty is a matter requiring her personal intervention. Whether Peter wants it or not.
