Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes finds out what it's like to truly want something, John Watson isn't too bad at deductions, and everything gets a bit bright for a minute.
"Sherlock Holmes isn’t sure about John Watson right away. That in and of itself is unusual, as he typically forms instantaneous, and negative, opinions about everyone he meets. The truth is Sherlock is so engaged in his work when Stamford brings John to meet that him that he fails to register his presence almost entirely until John offers him the use of his phone."

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes is a nightmare, John Watson loves (almost) every minute of it, and the terms of ownership are negotiated via a rather roundabout path.
"John knows he is not permitted to say the words to Sherlock. Sherlock, so disdainful of all sentiment, would view it as evidence of the weakness of John’s devotion to him, not its strength. So he tells him he’s mad and cracked and disturbed and a danger to society. He calls him a clot and an idiot and a prat and a wanker and every other name he can think of and Sherlock beams like John has written him a sonnet or carved his name into his chest. "

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes meets an old acquaintance, John Watson doesn't enjoy a trip to the country quite as much as he thought he would, and the past absolutely refuses to stay where it belongs.
'John raises an eyebrow. “And our client is?”Someone he doesn’t think about anymore, someone who seems so far in the past it's almost like Sherlock is looking at a film strip of things that had happened to a stranger…
Sherlock pauses, trying to think how to explain it to John. At last he settles on, “A university-mate of mine, we did our first year together. I solved something for him once, but I fear it brought more grief than anything else, and I haven’t seen him since. I had heard he’d moved abroad.” '

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes keeps secrets but tells no lies, John Watson ceases to be sure about anything, and the definition of seduction is scrutinised, broken down, and reconstructed.
" 'Sherlock… what do you see when you look at Irene Adler?'
'What do you mean?'
'I mean… do you see anything like… like what you see when you look at me?'
Sherlock finally turns to meet John’s eyes and looks him up and down. 'No.'
John should be relieved by this, but it's little comfort. 'But there’s something though, isn’t there?'
Sherlock appears torn between answering honestly and not replying at all. At last he says, 'Yes. Something.' "

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes wonders what to be if he can’t be himself, John Watson has to be someone he wished he didn't, trust is tested on all sides with no margin for error, and complete darkness is just barely held at bay.
" 'John, I am going to tell you something and then I am going to ask you to do something for me.' Sherlock keeps his tone even. 'It's very important for me that you not react immediately to what I'm going to say, however much you might want to, and just do as I wish without asking me any questions right away. I cannot process an emotional outpouring or speak at length right now. Can you do that?'
John instantly puts a hand on Sherlock's back. 'Of course,' he says, but in the voice he uses to keep others from noticing that he's afraid."

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes loses everything, John Watson loses more, and we discover that if moving on is inconceivable then going back may be impossible.
"John has the wild urge to put his lips to the pavement and taste the blood, diluted with rainwater, to confirm that it truly belongs to Sherlock.
He’d know, of course he’d know, no two other people could possibly have explored each other more intimately, he knows the taste of Sherlock’s blood, of his sweat, of his tears, of his semen and saliva, of the insides of his mouth and his nose and his ears and his deepest, most private crevices, the smell of his elbows and his armpits and his hair and his toes, there’s not a part of him John couldn’t recognise with all five senses…"

Summary
In which Sherlock Holmes discovers what it's like to wait, John Watson is pretty good at denial, and every shadow has a light source.
The conclusion to Conductivity.
" 'You see it now, don’t you?' Mycroft continues, sounding almost compassionate. 'You must let John move on, accept that no matter how willing you are to be there for him, he may not be able to be there for you. That’s implicit in whatever foolish promises you’ve made to him. And likely the only way you’ll be able to hang on to any part of him at all.'
Sherlock lets out a long string of invective, but his heart isn’t in it. The truth of this is undeniable."
