Summary
Five years after the death of Jin Guangyao, order has returned to the cultivation world. The seat of the Chief Cultivator of all clans still remains unclaimed. After much deliberation, the next Forum has been decided. The first Discussion Conference, after the Jin Clan’s ploy, in five years. The urgent topic of debate: the next Chief ‘Cultivators’; the best from each clan, each on equal footing, to mutually protect the natural world from evil.
Five years ago, Wèi Wúxiàn and Lán Wàngjī parted ways atop a nameless mountain peak.
Fatigued and bored, the infamous cultivator returns to the Cloud Recesses with nothing more than an apple, a turnip, and an uncooked potato. He would just stay until he got back onto his own feet.
Too bad his reputation had a tendency to follow him.

Summary
Two years had gone by without an utterance of Thunder City, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the Thunder Emperor’s Shrine. A promise made to himself, in keeping their retirement free from stories, lessons learned from darker days.
In the first year, Xiaoge refused to leave the village, or take any outside work. In the first year, Fatty developed several relationships with the villagers and farmers. But, reality is sobering. During the second year, Fatty wins court custody of Xiao Mei. While Xiaoge is drawn back into the line of danger.
...Maybe it was his hopeful thinking that any peace between them would last into a retirement.
