Despite how friendly Hakkai can seem most times, he is ruthless when it comes to protecting his Own. He would fight and die for every single one of his companions. He would kill for them, if they asked.
This does extend to the array of animals he's found on their travels to Baldur's Gate. Scratch is part of his Own, and he doesn't appreciate his Own being threatened.

Summary
Astarion paces around the perimeter of the camp. The itch worsens, dread settling in his stomach as well, churning until he thinks he might retch if he is not mindful. But why? He is not worried. Hakkai can handle himself.
He repeats the lie until he can almost believe it, if only to quell the nerves building inside of him.Hakkai has been kidnapped by a hag. Astarion and Halsin learn more about their fearless leader, including how to care for him when given an impossible task.
But when does a man become a monster? Is it when he physically changes, or does it come from the mind?
