Bilbo sat on a bench in the warm sunshine, hearing the babble of the river to his left. He tilted his face up to the sun and closed his eyes, letting the whole world wash red and black, soaking up the heat and small moment of peace. For a moment he could pretend that he was back in the Rivendell of his old age, with the peace of the valley wrapped around him, the cheerful song of the elves in the distance, the sweet scent of the flowers in the air. For a moment there was no Ring or Quest or the shadow of sorrow laying on his heart. For a moment he was at peace in the sunlight, just breathing in the clean, crisp air.

Summary
Waking to a world that existed decades before his presumed death, Bilbo Baggins finds himself on a precipice to choice. To stay and watch history play out as it had once more, with all of its joys and sorrows, or to make the choice to change it, even at the risk of his own life. But this new-old world and this new-old Adventure will not be something Bilbo will have to face alone, as others arrive to Arda's far shores that had never been there before in this Age, and old friends and allies – and enemies – have knowledge of the world-that-was as well. It will take courage and faith – and quite a bit of luck – to get there and back again once more.
